Cajun Lime Tilapia
I used to go to this restaurant for their Cajun Lime Tilapia nearly once a week because it was so good! I was spending about $15 every time and that’s not including tip! Needless to say, my food addiction was breaking the bank, so I learned how to make my own : ) I’ve done this recipe using fresh and frozen tilapia filets and honestly there’s not much difference! It’s a great meal that can be done in less than 10 minutes and a 4lb bag of frozen tilapia filets (usually about 12-20 filets per bag) will only run you $12 at most grocery stores!
2 fresh tilapia filets (if using frozen, make sure filets are fully thawed before cooking)
½ Tbs Cajun spice
¼ tsp lime zest
A few dashes of cayenne pepper
2 Tbs olive oil
Juice from one lime
Cover a baking dish with foil, then lightly coat with olive oil. Turn broiler on to high setting or at 500 degrees F.
Sprinkle Cajun seasoning and cayenne pepper evenly on top of the tilapia filets. I usually sprinkle just a little bit in the pan as well. Next add lime zest and coat with lime juice.
Bake filets for 5-7 minutes or until top of the filets get flakey.
