Grilled Mozzarella Cheese with Marinara
One of my favorite meals growing up was grilled cheese with tomato soup! I wanted to make a “grown-up” version of it as a party appetizer and since its October, I gave them an extra Halloween spin! Keep reading for a quick recipe and how to make the spider web!
1 package of mozzarella slices
1 loaf of wheat bread
Butter or margarine
Jar of marinara or just click the photo for my easy homemade version!
For spider web:
3 Tbs sour cream
1 Tbs milk
Start by buttering the side of bread that will be facing out. Heat a large skillet on low-medium heat. Put a slice of bread in the pan (butter side down), then add 1 or 2 mozzarella slices, and add the last slice of bread (butter side out).
Cook for 5-7 minutes or until light brown, flip with a spatula and cook the other side for another 5-7 minutes.
Cut into triangles and arrange around a plate. Fill a small bowl or custard cup with your marinara and place in the middle.
For the spider web, combine sour cream and milk in a small zip-lock bag, seal, and mix well.
Cut a small piece out of the corner and draw a spider web on top of the marinara.
