Merry Christmas Ya Filthy Animal Wall Art

December 8, 2012

What better way to decorate for the holidays, then to create your own wall art using quotes from your favorite Christmas movies!

…..

 Supplies:

16×20 matte board or canvas (I used a matte board that was leftover from a frame we purchased)

2” vinyl letters (I usually buy 2-3 packages in case I run out of certain letters)

Snowflake stickers

Acrylic paint in your color choice

Paint brush or foam brush

Optional:

Mod Podge

Side note: If you go with a matte board you’ll want to brush on a thin layer of Mod Podge before starting so the stickers don’t rip the board as you pull them off. It won’t take long and it dried in about 15 minutes.

Start by mapping out what you want your board to say so it will be evenly spaced. I went with a line from Home Alone 2 ; ) Next carefully stick down the letters and run your finger over them to make sure they’re sealed down.

Now before you see the next picture, I must explain that I’m not INTENTIONALLY dirty-minded! I was using up an old package of black vinyl letters, but I was short a few that I needed and had to use some letters from a white package that I had picked up. After I finished and stepped back, I squinted my eyes and laughed for a good ten minutes..

DEFINITELY DID NOT MEAN TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE IT SAID THAT!

So anyway.. moving on..

After your letters and snowflake stickers are on, pour out your paint and brush over the tops of the letters and canvas. Give the first layer about 15-20 minutes to dry.

Paint a second coat on and let dry for another 20 minutes.

Slowly peel off your snowflake stickers and letters and you’re done!

Punk really took a liking to mine..

Until it fell on her…
