It’s official.. the holiday spirit has caught on and everywhere you look houses, yards, and stores are decked out with lights and holiday décor! I’ve caught myself listening to Frank Sinatra Christmas Radio on Pandora and dreaming about getting a little snow more than a few times this week! We put our Christmas decorations and tree, which Punk has been sleeping under ever since, and I can’t wait to have an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party!
At the end of the month we’ll be flying back to Iowa, then driving straight up to Northern Minnesota to spend time with Josh’s family for a belated-Christmas and to celebrate New Year’s Eve. After that we’ll be driving back down to Iowa to see my family, spend time with friends, and Josh of course will be working on existing clientele.
Heading back home is always a double-edged sword for me.. It’s great to see friends and family, but unfortunately you end up running into a lot of people you DON’T want to see. We have a lot of bitter and bored people who try to stir up issues when we’re back and it takes away from the quality time with loved ones. I decided this time I’m done trying to fight with certain family members, sociopathic ex-girlfriends, and any other drama comes our way when we’re home. We’ve created a happy life here in Portland and at the end of our trip we get to return to it, while leaving the bitterness behind in the hole they belong in.
Aside from venturing out to see a handful of friends, I plan on spending the majority of my time with a mug of spiked cider, reading a few novels, and relaxing in front of my parent’s fireplace. Oh and of course baking and blogging! 😉
How will you be celebrating the holidays this year?
