Last week we set out with some friends to explore a new waterfall (well, new to us) in the Columbia River Gorge. I was so thankful for the good weather and the chance to get some fresh air! Even though the Pacific Northwest has a fairly mild winter, you still get cabin fever after being cooped up for a while! We went to Wahclella Falls which felt like something out of Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones (yes, I’m a geek) and then on to a second waterfall, which I sadly forgot the name of!

If you’re in a part of the world where winter just won’t seem to end, try to find a local botanical center or pick up some fresh flowers for your space. Just seeing those pops of color and nature will help boost your mood!

Not a blade of green here yet, but the sun is shining.
I will go outside and pick up sticks, trash, and get the yard ready for mowing.
And start raking down the extreme mole hills that started 3 days ago.
At least a mile of trails already in large front yard.
Moles know it is spring, somehow.

I love how often you guys go hiking! Super jealous of that!

We’re looking at 60 degree weather tomorrow and I could not be more excited!! We’re getting a blueberry bush from my brother and sister-in-law, and should be building our raised beds once April hits! I need to bring some flowers into the house though for sure!

Any recommendations on ones my kitten won’t try to eat? Haha!

I’m so thankful to live here and have access to waterfalls and mountains.. a big change from my flat and landlocked home of Iowa!

As for the flowers..good luck! Haha kittens eat everything! I’ve lucked out with Punk and she never bothers any of my indoor flowers, plants, or herbs, but there are sprays that you can purchase or mix up a solution of water and hot sauce to rub on the leaves to deter them from chewing on them. Unfortunately my mother has one stubborn or hot sauce loving cat because it’s not working for her! There’s always hanging planters! I’ve been seeing a lot of cute ideas for small hanging globe planters with air plants and succulents in them. They’re low maintenance, but still look just as pretty as flowers!

Yeah, it’s amazing that you’ve got both mountains AND beaches so close!!

Haha! It’s funny, I had success with one bunch of grocery store cut flowers but not potted ones. So maybe it’s the leaves he loves to eat? I’ll have to experiment with that! Thanks!
