We had a snuggly couple of weeks with our favorite Bostons, Milo and Schotzy. For those of you new to the blog, these farty little beans belong to our good friends and we dog sit them quite often. I tend to shut myself inside the house all day when working on the blog, but It was great to take the girls on walks and see all the colorful spring blooms around the neighborhood.
They were less than thrilled about the bath.
And Milo was overseeing my posts all week.
Last week I decided to push myself out of my comfort zone a bit and set up a photo shoot with the talented Sheri House of House Ink. My friend, Britnee, did an amazing job with my makeup and I made a flower crown (tutorial coming soon!) for the occasion. We finally caught a sunny day and headed to Bridal Veil Falls in the Columbia River Gorge. It was slightly awkward as the tourists shifted their cameras from the waterfall to us trying to set up lighting, shoot, and pose without tumbling into the water. My feet went numb about two minutes into standing in the water and I may or may not have rolled off a log while trying to look like an ethereal forest goddess. Being covered in dirt, moss, and goosebumps.. it’s a glamorous life! You can see one of the edited shots on House Ink’s Instagram!
On Sunday we hosted a Game of Thrones premiere party at our place. A small get-together quickly turned to a party of fourteen and I realized that nothing short of a royal feast would suffice! Platters of delicious meats, cheeses, and fresh fruit, a sixteen pound brown sugar glazed ham, bacon wrapped chicken drumsticks, and my mom’s famous pasta salad and deviled egg recipes. Our friends also brought over candied Sriracha bacon and a two layer cake! Of course I had get in theme and dress up as Daenerys so my dress from the photoshoot came in handy again!
Monday my wonderfully creative friend and photographer, Lindsey Rickert, came over to shoot new photos for Tattooed Martha. We took your basic head shots and then moved on to the real fun! You know you have a true friend for life when she tells you, “Let’s shoot you in a messy kitchen while you’re drinking a cocktail.” Ummm.. done and DONE! The kitchen was already destroyed from our Game of Thrones party the night before and whipping up a batch of cupcakes for the shoot, but we decided to destroy it even further. There’s nothing more gratifying than hurling a cupcake at your cupboards and hearing the “splat” that it makes! The clean up aspect was not as fun, but it was worth the mess to get the shots we needed.
The photos will also be used in something else very exciting.. details soon!
I hope that you all have a wonderful, messy, and creative week!
