Life has been a bit all over the place lately making it difficult to write. Trying to juggle the blog, work, and a personal life seems daunting when there’s an imbalance in one of those worlds. We strive to have it all when sometimes we have to realize in order to have it all, we have to let go of a few things. Tattooed Martha is not one of them..
This is my source of creative freedom, frustration, hard work, challenges, love, and above all else.. my passion. I can see where I want things to go and I refuse to let go of that vision until I reach it.
This past month has also taught me A LOT about communication. With friends, with family, and with my husband. Some of these experiences have been really good and others.. not so much, but they’ve all taught me the same valuable lesson: WE HAVE TO TALK TO ONE ANOTHER! Open communication (even if it’s a little awkward) is key to strong and long lasting bonds.
I’m not a perfect friend, daughter, wife, or sister. I’m simply TRYING. We all are. We’re going to make a lot of mistakes and hurt a lot of feelings along the way, but it’s pretty hard to learn from these if we’re unaware of them.
Holding resentment and bad feelings towards another person instead of discussing how they made you feel in that moment, turns a lot of little mole hills into a mountain, causing more resentment, anger, and sometimes the demise of a relationship. The same goes for good feelings as well. How are the loved ones in our life supposed to know how much they mean to us if we never express it? I’ve never been a ‘let’s talk about our feelings’ kind of person before, but I have made a greater effort to express them in the moment and my personal relationships have only grown stronger.
People will come and go in our lives, but at the end of the day all you need is a small and solid team of people that you love and that love and support you back. Thank you to my husband and our second wife (it’s a joke.. we’re not actual polygamists!), Britnee, for loving me through all the ups and downs this past month has brought. <3
