After spending a week with family in Northern Minnesota we’re finally back in the sweltering summer heat of Portland. Going straight back to work after our time off wasn’t ideal, but it’s making me appreciate my next two days off all the more!
My husband’s family (and now my family!) does a huge family reunion every 5 years that was originally started by his great grandmother, Meme Mann, in 1964. It was great to finally meet Josh’s extended family and be apart of this amazing gathering of people. There were golf outings, contests, photo reenactments, and lots of great food!
Us in a few short years! 😉
After the reunion was over, my parents drove up from Iowa to spend a few days with us as well. It was some much needed rest and relaxation.. minus the rest part for me. I can’t sleep without my sixteen pound ball of fluff named, Punk. Cat-mom problems. We woke up with no agenda and spent most of time taking boat rides, drinking beer, and talking.
Of course I caught myself constantly thinking I should be working on the blog. Sometimes it’s good to step away and focus on YOU and your goals aside from work and any side projects though. Okay… I did end up working a little, but I can’t help it!
Since we have half the year left, I thought it might be fun to make some Half Year Resolutions and recommit to some previous goals!
1st on the list: Change everything over to my married name. I handled the drivers license part, but there’s still social security, tax forms, bank accounts, etc… 🙁 A rather grueling task, but it needs done nontheless!
2nd: Redesign the website. Tattooed Martha has been needing a face lift for quite some time, don’t you think? I’m ready for a whole new layout, new features and content, and more interaction with you, the readers!
3rd: Ugh… do I dare say it? Go to the gym on a regular basis. I definitely need to focus on my health more and working out regularly would help tremendously. The only problems: I hate getting sweaty or out of breath willingly, wearing spandex, doing physical activity in front of other people, getting sweaty, repetition, dudes who take too many selfies in front of the squat rack, and did I mention getting sweaty?
Wish me luck! What are your Half Year Resolutions?
