And even though the temps don’t drop drastically here in the other LA, it’s great to have a nice cider to sit around the fire with while you’re out on the patio.
Here is a great holiday cider you can sip on at work, and share with the kiddos.
2qt pear juice
8oz faux rum
4 cinnamon sticks (additional for cup garnish)
Orange for garnish
(Faux rum ingredients)
1c demerara sugar
1oz rum-flavored syrup
½ can ginger beer or ginger ale
Dash of rum extract
In a small pot, mix the faux rum ingredients and bring to a boil.
Pour the faux rum and pear juice into a slow cooker. Add a couple of pinches of nutmeg and the cinnamon sticks.
Since I have a satsuma tree in my backyard, I added a few slices of oranges to make the pot aesthetically pleasing, plus the acid in the orange will help with the sweet taste of the cider.
Pierce the apple with the whole cloves and place the apple in the cider mix.
Cover, and cook on high for about two hours.
Ladle the cider into your favorite mug, using an additional cinnamon stick and orange slice to garnish.
This cider is great for a cozy night watching a movie, or as I’m doing, enjoying it with a nice cigar.
