What a phenomenal week it’s been! We made the hike (or should I say SWIM) through Emerald Gorge last week, which was a big bucket list item for me! You first have to hike over a huge pile of fallen trees and boulders and then trudge through knee high water. After that is the real test of strength and endurance (or sheer madness) where you have to wade through ICE cold chest high water! Once you brave this area you’re rewarded with a breath taking view of a waterfall. We took our friend, Lauren, who was visiting from Iowa and our Portland-native friend, Ryan, was our tour guide for the day. He tried to convince me to swim up the waterfall, but once I was neck deep and couldn’t touch the bottom I nearly went into shock! The water is heart-stopping cold and I just couldn’t do it! We ventured to Horsetail Falls after that where you can actually walk behind the waterfall. I haven’t traveled to too many places yet in the U.S. but Oregon has to be the most beautiful!
Sunday was our Haunted Luau Housewarming party! We had roughly 30 people in attendance and everyone got into the theme! We had plenty of food (recipes below!) and Halloween themed drinks which you’ll see posted over the new few weeks! Sailor Jerry was kind enough to send over party supplies and décor, our friend Ryan collects skulls and other oddities (like a mummified cat!) and let us borrow quite a few to add some creepiness to the party, and my fiancé was grill master and bartender most of the evening! We’re looking forward to throwing many more get-togethers in the future.. Ugly Christmas Sweater Party anyone? 😉
Unfortunately with preparing for the party and gearing up for next month’s posts, I haven’t had much time for my Birthday Bucket List or anymore wedding planning! I love to stay busy and I feel like I thrive under pressure, but I just get disappointed when I’m not accomplishing my personal goals. Knowing me, I’ll complete all of my bucket list items in one day and complete all of the wedding details a week before the big day! I guess that being said, I should wrap this up!
