I absolutely adore Kiara Sky Dip products! I’ve been using them for about three years total now, and I love the quality, the results, and all of the different colors available. I bought this kit to teach myself how to do my own nails at home. I thoroughly love anything I can do myself at home. My nails tend to crack easily, gel doesn't always keep them sturdy and going to the salon every 2 weeks to get them done (gel or dip) is not in my budget. So I bought this kit to give my nails some strength while also looking great. Plus I suck at polish. I always get it everywhere when using my non-dominant hand to paint. The included instructions are pretty basic and give you a step by step guide that you need to be successful. It also helps that Kiara Sky has a YouTube channel to show you exactly how to do the dip manicure with the starter kit so with the included instructions and YT video, it's pretty fool proof. My first manicure was good, not great but for my very first attempt, I'd say it went pretty well! There are a few tools you will need that are not included in the kit and that includes a buffer block, nail file, manicure sticks and a fluffy brush to brush off excess powder left on your fingers (I used a clean makeup brush that I no longer use and it worked fine). I also like that the kit includes a brush saver to clean the polishes included and extra brush heads incase you need to replace them (This was nice as I pulled the bristles out of the topcoat head by mistake when wiping it off after using the brush saver). The prep, activator and base coat all work great, but the topcoat bottle I got is kind of frustrating to work with. It dries so quickly that the product on the brush hardens before I can do all 10 fingers, so it leaves only a few fibres free and the rest a big chunk. Then when it dries on the nail the topcoat dries matte in some places and has a shrink-wrap appearance in others. I am disappointed because I got this for my 11 year old because kids always want to be like their mommie. I get dipped nails when I go to the nail salon so I thought this would be something similar. Wrong was I. There is no powder. I mean you can buy some, separately. Had I known that, I would have selected something else. Well we tried it anyways and outside of being disappointed about the powder, it turned out ok. As long as you follow the directions, you should not have any problems using this set. As far as a kid (my 11 year old), I recommend that a parent or someone older be there with them while using this to provide some guidance. They can do it on their own but at the same time you want to make sure things do not dry up or get a little too messy. Each bottle is color coded which is a plus. I like the fact that this was done. I have been using this product for a few months now and I love it. It's so easy and stress free. I love being able to do my own nails from home but still get a salon look. I have two issues with this product that is making me go to another brand. 1 even when your super careful to not drip around the top of the bottle they are very hard to open the next time. The other is the brushes are awful. They get hard after just a couple uses sometimes even in the middle of using them making the mani awful. When I have tried to use the brush restorer, when i go to dry off the bristles and feel them to make sure they are soft they pull right out. Even when I am gentle. This dipping system is a huge YES! it costs exactly the same amount as one professional dip manicure and if you are patient and willing to learn a new skill you will save yourself hundreds of dollars with this investment. Because I do have a track record of painting outside the lines with regular nail polish, I was nervous that this would prove disastrous in doing my own dip. However, the consistency of the liquid bonders etc. are very thin meaning they were incredible easy to control. My recommendation to anyone looking to start doing DIY dip nails is to also invest in a nail drill, and a cheap nail brush (that won’t loose its hairs) to brush access powders. I also purchased nail caps to help ease the process of removing my dip manicures, (I absolutely detest sticking my fingers in a bowl of acetone. I much prefer clamping the cotton to my nails). Finally, the best pro tip I can give is to not worry about going overboard when your painting the liquid steps onto your nails. Recalling how quickly the women at my salon painted on step 1, I attempted to create the thinnest layer I could on my first attempt of my first couple nails. That method proved to be a fail and the dip spread out unevenly across the nail and I had to start over again. On the rest of my hand I made sure to make sure I made a solid wet layer across the nail, and each time I pulled my perfectly coated finger out of the powder I wanted to scream with joy! While this product may look intimidating, it really is quiet easy. I should mention that you can also mix and Match whatever brands of powder you want to use with this system as well. I've never had my nails done at a salon, so I've never had any exposure to the process of gel, acrylic or dip nails. I've just always used plain ol' nail polish, but I'm very active and finally got fed up with even the "best" quality nail polishes chipping within 2 days of application. Enter: Dipwell. Compared to some other kits and brands I've seen, Dipwell is way more affordable. I can't speak to any quality differences among brands though since this is my first ever experience with dip powders. I had to do 2-3 full applications before I feel like I got a hang of the application techniques, so if you're used to getting dip nails done at the salon, this will likely be easier for you (assuming you pay attention to the process)! Even after the 2nd time and still looking a little sloppy in places, it still looked better than most regular nail polish applications. By my 3rd application, I was able to create cute ombre accent nails, so you can learn pretty quickly. One thing to note is that this can get MESSY (or maybe I'm still bad at this…), especially with all the filing and buffing residue. Clean-up is fairly easy, but as a total noob to acrylic systems of any kind, I didn't expect the amount of mess it can create. The instruction pamphlet is pretty clear, but I also watched lots of tutorial videos to get a more complete picture of the process. The colors are beautiful, but I wish there were better swatches and photos on hands on the website, because some colors are not well-represented by the single swatch on the website. This system is great and if you’re thorough and diligent with the instructions your manicure will look great and last. I bought this when there was not a build your own option, and was disappointed to find that the naturale colors included were not my style. The lighter color is filled with glitter/sparkles which surprised me- I avoided the glitter set because I don’t like glitter- and the darker color is sort of a deep pink. I bought a kit for my friend a couple months after my purchase and discovered the build your own kit which was such a great option and she was very happy. It was such an easy product to use! Simple application and its difficult to make mistakes. I’ve never had dip done or seen it done. I looked up a few videos on YouTube and just read the instructions. It was so easy and my results were fantastic! It also didn’t stink at all. Like when you get real close you can smell it but it will not stink up your room. My only note would be to have some kind of brush on hand for the excess powder. They provide a sponge in the kit but it doesn’t work very well for the nooks and crannies.KTraver
I have been getting dip nails done at the salon for about a year now and I love the strength that it gives to my otherwise very brittle nails, so I was excited to try this out at home. Only different I noticed from the salon dip nails I usually get was how they wore. The top coat started to crack on a few of the nails after about 2-3 days, but I am pretty hard on my hands. I use to spend $45-$50 alone on a SNS dip powder nails at the salon and now that I discovered how easy and AFFORDABLE it is to do your own nails at home… GAME CHANGER. This is an amazing brand and almost every Ulta store I tried to go to for the color white was absolutely sold out! I got really lucky and found it at a location I was randomly near by. It doesn’t have a strong odor which is great, it’s a small jar of powder so it’s great that a little goes a long way. It only took 2 dips before I got the preferable coverage/color intensity and that speaks volumes! I love doing my own nails and save $$$ every month! I’m still learning how to make them more neat, so I can’t wait to get better!! Overall I like this product. I use it on natural nails. Its like having armour on my nails so they don't break. They look really nice and there is no chipping like gel nail or nail polish. What I don't like is, it takes forever to take off. You have to soak it off (30+ mins) which is horrible for my nails. It takes a good amount of time to remove and redo nails. And it is a messy process. I have learned some tricks through trial and error. Wipe off extra dust, once dry, between each dip, I personally dip 3 times, anymore makes my nails look fake. To keep the brush from hardening I put it back in the bottle immediately then dip my nail. I also use a crystal nail file and a buffer to smooth any bumps. I don't care for the top coat included so I use a different one. Overall it's a good product, but I will keep looking for something not so difficult.Em
This kit is meant to be able to mix the colors to create your own color. But these colors do NOT blend well, and what I mean is when mixing 2 colors you don't get a solid purple or pink or whatever color you are trying to achieve. You can clearly see the 2 different color powders you mixed. The light pink looked like white with red specs in it. The purple looked like blue with red specs in it. This color is gorgeous and I've never had so many compliments on a nail color. People absolutely gush over it. That said, I don't think the pictures are accurate (at least not on my screen). The color is much closer to the third image. I bought the dip powder and the nail polish. I normally find Kiara Sky colors to be accurate to the photos online, but this is the first one that isn't. I was pleasantly surprised when I used this powder and thought I was going to have a black and white marbled look, but actually ended up with a black and silver marbled look. If there is white glitter in this powder, you can barely see it. The silver and black marble turned out quite beautiful when I paired it with a black tip for a french manicure. This is only the second time I’ve done my nails and the first time I used this color so my nails don’t look great. But I’m learning. The purple is very bright and noticeable but still soft and not garish. I paired with black ice glitter for Halloween kinda vibe. I’d say working with the glitter is hard. It doesn’t lay flat. There is no utensil offered by kiara sky to dust on glitter. You either pour or dip. I did see some people use a tiny pharmacy powder spoon they order off Amazon to do the sprinkling on bit. I would recommend that. Otherwise you don’t get much of an ombré effect. It’s hard to do 2 colors fast before the base dries and the powder doesn’t stick. I’m assuming it just takes practice. These are my nails grown out a week. I had to file down the nail area around the cuticle cuz I made them too thick so the color looks lighter there cuz of my file job after I’d already done top coat. I have no idea who decided it was a good idea to carry this brand/kit but they should be reprimanded for not doing their due diligence. The liquids are awful and the powder doesn’t cure all the way. When I went to file and shape my nails, the top layer (the one most accessible by the activator) started peeling back and whole chunks weren’t cured. It wasn’t hard at all. I ended up having to soak them off (which was another ordeal altogether). Now I have to try and find something else to use to fix my mom’s nails. I don’t trust any of the other dip products after this experience and I don’t want to reward them by spending more money, so I’m not sure what I’m going to do. I have never tried dip powder, but after seeing a lot of promotion online and seeing it in Sallys, I decided to give it a try. So far I really like it! I have done two sets. The first set lasted about 6 days and the second has lasted 9. It does seem to start raising from the cuticle but that is probably my error because I am still learning. Hopefully after I geet the hang of it they will last the 3 weeks as advertised. The kit came with a red powder and it seems to be very pigmented and only took about 2-3 coats. Where to start? I’m a former nail tech— of 10 years to be exact. I’ve tried many brands for regular polish, shellac, dip & acrylic. I like trying new, especially kits. This kit was very inexpensive. I read many reviews of wishing to get your money back and I bet you’ve spent more with not so pretty manicures you may have not gotten fixed. Any dip is easier to apply when you’ve had experience painting your own nails. Staying within the nail bed is definitely a must. Also—Don’t buff the top layer to remove. Use a coarse file to actually break the top seal for the acetone to soak through. If you experience clumping, you’re applying too much product (especially base coat). Believe me, it’s not the brand. Clumping can and will happen with even pricier nail brands if there’s too much product on the brush. Your nail tech didn’t perfect their manicures overnight. Practice really does make perfect here. Be patience with yourself if your first dip manicure doesn’t look instagram worthy. There’s enough product in this kit to try again.Chrystal

I love this. The colors you receive are beautiful and its so reasonable in price. I did order mine on amazon for $41 and it only took me maybe 45 minutes to do 10 fingers but that's because I had never done it before. They look pretty good. Just know you need a 180 grit file or an electric file with a buffer and you need to order a top coat separate if you want them to be glossy, if you like the matte look then the kit itself plus the file is all you'll need. Nailboo liquids are perfect! They have a great medium consistency and don't dry too fast or too slow which gives you a bit of time to clean up your cuticles for a cleaner finish! This stuff is great. I recently stumbled upon DipWell when looking for new powders. Ive been wanting a good clear dip powder that I can use on my natural nails just to add some strength. I bit my nails all of my life until the last few years, and have been really having fun experimenting with nail art and different things. I have found dip powders to be my favorite thing to add strength to my nails without damaging them. That being said, I am officially obsessed with DipWell. I tried this on bare nails, and it’s wonderful. The powder is so fine and it’s super clear. I have had problems where my ‘clear’ powder doesn’t end up being clear, and ruining the entire look. This stuff is CLEAR, and you can buff with no scratches or cloudiness (don’t use a super abrasive buffer!). I LOVE it. The BEST clear powder I have used. I paired it on top of GL-45, their fine Holo glitter, and it’s AWESOME. For a starter kit, it's definitely a 5-star item! It's my first experience with dip powered nails and it is very easy. For my first try, it was a trial-and-error on one hand, but by the time I finished my second hand it came out nicer and more even. Now I'm addicted to dip nails! It's very easy to remove and kind of melts off with no or little damage to the top layer of your nail bed. The nails will stay on and last for a while. It already has everything that you need in there, so it's a true starter kit and you can even reuse the powder tray. CON: There are 2 set of nail tips, one clear and one white. The sizes didn't fit well for my nails because the tips are very curved while I just have slightly curved nails. Tips: 1. I use regular nail polish on top of them. If I want to change colors, I file off the polish layer instead of using acetone because it willl not just remove the polish but also the whole dipped nails and all. 2. Besides the lack of different sizes for the false tips, you can get your own tips that better fits you and still use a good amount of the dip powder/glue/activator left! I haven't used it all yet, but you'll get at least 4 manicures or more if you keep your tips short and the number of layers to about 3-4.T
I've been using this product for about a year now. I buy my nail tips separately, glue them on, then use this kit. It can take 2 or 3 times before you master it, but I find it fun. Its similar to acrylic, but doesn't have a strong smell, and doesn't require a lot of filing. I like my nails medium to long length, so this kit is good for about 2-3 nail sets for me. You will run out of the gel before anything else, and it can dry up/glue the bottle closed if you don't store it upright. Do everything on a flat surface, otherwise the powder can get everywhere. It is possible to encapsulate small things in the nail, like you might do with acrylic (glitters, etc.). I'm a perfectionist so altogether, it takes me about an hour to do everything, but with shorter nails you can accomplish everything in about 30 minutes. The kit said it came with 20 white tips and 20 natural nail tips. Mine only had 19 and each one was missing one in different sizes? For example the white was missing one size 7 and the natural was missing one size 9. Which I needed both sizes so it was a disappointment. The dip also did not cover where the acrylic meets the natural nail. Very disappointed in this set. Also the brush on gel would not stick and I had to press hard on the nail which made them look worse.ommontgom

This is the third brand of dip powder I recently purchased. Bought the Live by Color neon orange. It seems to be more of a neon pastel orange. The formula is not good at all. It appeared clumpy and gritty once it was applied. I immediately removed it and the removal process was a pain. Other dips I have I soak a cotton pad in acetone and wrap in foil and it removes easily. This turned into a rubbery and sticky substance once it came into contact with the acetone. I would not recommend this product and will be returning it.Techie78
I use these dips because salon manicures are a huge expense and truly not satisfactory. The salons in my area do not follow proper protocol and use the same dip over and over. They don't even require the clients to wash their hands before they start. It takes a lot of patience and time to get the manicure to come out correctly. I find the dip powder light, easy to use, and the colors (this is my 3rd color) fairly representative of the color you see when you open the jar. When properly applied, the powder will wear several weeks, just like the salon. I wish the directions were more detailed.A@mbsc
