IDIOT PROOF!!!!!! This was the best money I’ve ever spent. No more 45-60$ manicures (not to mention the cost of pedicures!) I love how easy it is to use, I find myself doing my nails at least once every few weeks and gelish is very easy to remove with the correct acetone products. The learning curve isn’t too bad, you need to be careful not to apply too close to the nail bed, seal the tips and apply thin even coats. The only issues I’ve ever had with gel manicures is that they can sometimes peel off. This is due to my nails not being completely free of oils and dehydrated before application. I have the mini macaron individual nail lamp that actually looks like a macaron and comes with a full size polish in rose gold. I bought this set expecting similar success but I was a bit disappointed. First off the mini polishes are really hard to use. The brush is so short that it makes applying the polish incredibly difficult. I know what they were going for but the design is all wrong. A taller narrow bottle would have been better if they wanted to make minis. The shorter bottle is so frustrating that alone makes me want to return it. Secondly the lamp while aesthetically cute is not practical because you have to cure the thumb separately from the fingers. This feels like a huge design flaw. I want a salon quality gel manicure at home and I don’t see why a lamp this size won’t accommodate my whole hand. The other thing is that the lamp doesn’t seem to cure as well as the single finger lamp. Now to the pros, the colors are beautiful and limited edition. According to their website they can only be acquired through this deluxe set. But again the bottle brush are a pain. The bottom of the lamp is removable for pedicures but is difficult to slide the bottom of tray in and out. I have used this twice now and I love it! I feel like if you set your expectations properly, it’s a great product. The thing I hate most about painting my nails is that I never have time to let them dry properly so they always dent and chip. These cure right away in the machine so even if my kids interrupt me for something, I can get up and then come back to doing my nails. I’ve had mine on for 3 days now with very minimal chipping. With normal polish by day 3 it’s halfway gone. Keep the coats thin and do 2 coats, drying in between. Is it the same quality as a salon manicure? No. But I paid the same cost as a salon manicure to be able to do it whenever I want so this is a perfect filler to take away from having to get my nails done every 2-3 weeks. This was the first time I've ever done a successful nail extension on myself. I am incredibly impressed with this kit. My thumbs are too big for the largest tip in the set but I was able to combat that problem by using additional builder gel to create a perfect fit. I recommend shaping the cuticle area of the tip before you place them if your cuticle area is more round. I was able to create a custom fitting set successfully and I am sure it will go quicker next time. I would suggest having a nail drill and full hand curing lamp on hand for ease of use. I do not have a full hand curing lamp at this time so I was able to do my nails individually with the lamp provided. But seriously would be time saving to invest in a full size lamp lol. For someone who is new to gel polish and diy nail extensions this was very self explanatory and easy to follow. Would recommend to everyone!!Makenna M.
So user tip. Start with your pinky. Work your way towards your first finger and thumb. Otherwise trying to hold the nail down and use it light will be really hard. if you start with your pinky you can have full use of first finger and thumb till the very end. I chose the medium length. I have done my nails 4 times now. Twice I had a nail pop off. My thumb but that’s cuz I’m a cashier and I gripped something and used my nail not my actual thumb. I wish they had a way for you to just order your size nails once you know your nail size. They give you 00-10 I think and obviously you’re gonna be left with nails you can’t use cuz they don’t fit. Hardest part is holding the nail down to keep air pockets out while pressing the uv light button which as on the BACK of the uv light. Not very user friendly. A push down button on front base would have been smarter. So one star loss for that reason. Either way I love this kit. This picture is after a week of growth and my first attempt at ombré glitter, not easy so I can see a lot of errors.Jack

I’ve been doing my own nails for about 2-3 years now, and the part I’ve always hated the most is having to apply the nail product — whether that’s polygel, gel, or acrylic — because I’m a perfectionist and it takes me forever to do so. Applying them takes a little practice the first time you use the kit, but by the time you’re on your other hand, it’s much easier. I’ve applied fake full-cover tips with gel bottom coat polish before and they don’t last NEARLY as long as these. As I’m typing this out, I still have a set on that I applied over 5 weeks ago. While they’ve definitely grown out, I’m still not seeing any lifting whatsoever at the cuticle. The prep, activator and base coat all work great, but the topcoat bottle I got is kind of frustrating to work with. It dries so quickly that the product on the brush hardens before I can do all 10 fingers, so it leaves only a few fibres free and the rest a big chunk. Then when it dries on the nail the topcoat dries matte in some places and has a shrink-wrap appearance in others. I don't know if I've just gotten a faulty product or I'm doing something wrong, would love some help. Other than that, the three other bottles are fantastic.Maddison K.
Gelish Soak Off Basix Acrylic Powder Nail Polish Dip Manicure Set Starter Kit was selected through the Wal Mark Spark Reviewer Program for my honest opinion. I am disappointed because I got this for my 11 year old because kids always want to be like their mommie. I get dipped nails when I go to the nail salon so I thought this would be something similar. Wrong was I. There is no powder. I mean you can buy some, separately. Had I known that, I would have selected something else. Well we tried it anyways and outside of being disappointed about the powder, it turned out ok. As long as you follow the directions, you should not have any problems using this set. As far as a kid (my 11 year old), I recommend that a parent or someone older be there with them while using this to provide some guidance. They can do it on their own but at the same time you want to make sure things do not dry up or get a little too messy. Each bottle is color coded which is a plus. I like the fact that this was done. I have been using this product for a few months now and I love it. It's so easy and stress free. I love being able to do my own nails from home but still get a salon look. I have two issues with this product that is making me go to another brand. 1 even when your super careful to not drip around the top of the bottle they are very hard to open the next time. The other is the brushes are awful. They get hard after just a couple uses sometimes even in the middle of using them making the mani awful. When I have tried to use the brush restorer, when i go to dry off the bristles and feel them to make sure they are soft they pull right out. Even when I am gentle. These are the full size (15ml) version which is fantastic. I had previously bought the mini set which are only 9ml. I just used it for the first time this morning and I'm very pleased. This dipping system is a huge YES! it costs exactly the same amount as one professional dip manicure and if you are patient and willing to learn a new skill you will save yourself hundreds of dollars with this investment. Because I do have a track record of painting outside the lines with regular nail polish, I was nervous that this would prove disastrous in doing my own dip. However, the consistency of the liquid bonders etc. are very thin meaning they were incredible easy to control. My recommendation to anyone looking to start doing DIY dip nails is to also invest in a nail drill, and a cheap nail brush (that won’t loose its hairs) to brush access powders. I also purchased nail caps to help ease the process of removing my dip manicures, (I absolutely detest sticking my fingers in a bowl of acetone. I much prefer clamping the cotton to my nails). Finally, the best pro tip I can give is to not worry about going overboard when your painting the liquid steps onto your nails. Recalling how quickly the women at my salon painted on step 1, I attempted to create the thinnest layer I could on my first attempt of my first couple nails. That method proved to be a fail and the dip spread out unevenly across the nail and I had to start over again. On the rest of my hand I made sure to make sure I made a solid wet layer across the nail, and each time I pulled my perfectly coated finger out of the powder I wanted to scream with joy! While this product may look intimidating, it really is quiet easy. I should mention that you can also mix and Match whatever brands of powder you want to use with this system as well. I've never had my nails done at a salon, so I've never had any exposure to the process of gel, acrylic or dip nails. I've just always used plain ol' nail polish, but I'm very active and finally got fed up with even the "best" quality nail polishes chipping within 2 days of application. Enter: Dipwell. Compared to some other kits and brands I've seen, Dipwell is way more affordable. I can't speak to any quality differences among brands though since this is my first ever experience with dip powders. I had to do 2-3 full applications before I feel like I got a hang of the application techniques, so if you're used to getting dip nails done at the salon, this will likely be easier for you (assuming you pay attention to the process)! Even after the 2nd time and still looking a little sloppy in places, it still looked better than most regular nail polish applications. By my 3rd application, I was able to create cute ombre accent nails, so you can learn pretty quickly. One thing to note is that this can get MESSY (or maybe I'm still bad at this…), especially with all the filing and buffing residue. Clean-up is fairly easy, but as a total noob to acrylic systems of any kind, I didn't expect the amount of mess it can create. The instruction pamphlet is pretty clear, but I also watched lots of tutorial videos to get a more complete picture of the process. The colors are beautiful, but I wish there were better swatches and photos on hands on the website, because some colors are not well-represented by the single swatch on the website. This system is great and if you’re thorough and diligent with the instructions your manicure will look great and last. I bought this when there was not a build your own option, and was disappointed to find that the naturale colors included were not my style. The lighter color is filled with glitter/sparkles which surprised me- I avoided the glitter set because I don’t like glitter- and the darker color is sort of a deep pink. I bought a kit for my friend a couple months after my purchase and discovered the build your own kit which was such a great option and she was very happy. Bummed it wasn’t available when I bought mine. Love love love! There are not enough words to express how much I love this too coat! It is a bit on the pricey side, however, it is well worth it! Other top coats have never held up as well as this one. There is no smudging, and they last for several days before chipping (which is the first top coat to ever do that for me). Its just your average top coat. Calling this anywhere close to gel is a joke. I followed up a red gel couture polish with this matching top coat and within a few hours my nails have all ready chipped and worn on the tips. Save your money and get a lower cost alternative, it's going to do just as well. This also drags off the color of your polish with it regardless of how long your polish has been drying. I wanted to love this and I wanted it to last more than a few hours.katie.l
This top coat is pretty good! It was very easy apply, and went on very smooth. I had no issues applying it. It did take 5-10 minutes to fully dry. Within the first couple of days I was noticing that the polish under the top coat started the break apart but the top coat was still doing well. By day 3 I was starting to see some small chips on some of my nails, but one nail I had tried a different kind of gel polish from Essie (the blue/grey nail) and that one didn't have any chips yet. It is day 4 now of wearing the polishes, the blue/grey polish on my left hand (my non dominant hand) has a small chip at the side, but my right is still doing well. It seems like the polish underneath determines how well the top coat does and lasts. Some last, some don't. It's a pretty good top coat though!louise.c

I’ve professionally done nails for over 20 years now and you name the product and most likely I have tried it! I enjoy this product a lot. There are so many gel products out there but this one… I like the large assortment of colors and I like that the consistency of the product isn’t too “thick” feeling or looking. A nice thin coat does the job! And I have noticed- if applied correctly- the gel lasts well over a week for me. And I’m super rough with my hands. Only took a star off because of price and how literally every person can get these so called “professional” gel colors etc. Like why did I spend so much money to go to cosmetology school just to be able to grab what I need at the CVS down the road?
I was terrified to try this at home. I have had my nails done for years. I took a chance and my nails are beautiful. I went back and bought more colors, designs, I purchased things to make it even easier on me. I keep thinking of all the money I wasted. At least, I know now and people compliment my nails just like when they were done professionally. My nails are real and long. I couldn’t believe when I removed the gel, dip, my nails are not damaged compared to when they file the top layer, like they did at salon. Thank you for such a wonderful product. I am not a professional manicurist but I enjoy doing my own nails at home. I own a LED light and many gel nail polishes but haven't mastered the french tip look. I went to CVS to purchase the whole artificial french tip nail set but then I saw this kit. I followed the directions, including starting with doing your dominant hand first, which makes sense. I agree with the previous comment…yes, the brush in the gel product dried out right away and became too stiff to make smooth lines. Unfortunately, I had to exchange the first kit I bought because, though it was unopened, the gel brush was missing! I suggest opening the kit as soon as you buy it to make sure all bottles have brushes in them. I'm going to purchases nail polish brushes separately so I always have extras when one dries out. The instructions make it seem like all three bottles should come with brushes but my second kit was missing the brush for the activator. I think maybe you use the brush on the cleaner bottle for the activator interchangeably. I'm a fan and I will definitely be buying this product again.Niters
I did my nails with the white French tip 4 days ago and they're still on and still strong! I have 4 kids and all day I'm picking up toys, upending things and just constantly using my hands and none have broke yet. When I go get my nails done I always have 1 that will break after a 2 days or at most a week! And I pay $60 just for 1 to break so soon. I almost returned this after reading reviews elsewhere. But I figured for $14, it's worth a shot when Ulta has a fab return policy. READ the directions IN FULL before you try this. They say to use a clean paper towel after filing for a reason- dust will make your gel look textured and less shiny (and less professional looking). Like another review said, I also wish there were more smaller sizes so that there's less waste, but I think I'll try filing the sides of those tips down to make them work. I used the French tips and filed them to a cute almond shape.KK

I bought this on a whim after researching the prices of gel manicures at the salons in my area and being too impatient to wait for an appointment. It seems kind of pricey at first, but will pay for itself after a few applications and it comes with literally everything you will need – including files, lint free wipes, cuticle sticks, cuticle oil, and polish remover. I found the instructions to be very user friendly and the results I got are pretty good for my first time. Once I get better at painting my own nails I feel as if my results will be pretty close to salon quality. The entire experience took a little under an hour, I just watched a TV show while I did it. It hasn't been long enough to see how long they will last but so far I'm happy with my purchase. Make sure you wipe the nails at the end or they will continue to be tacky!Olivia
Full disclosure, I actually bought the "Best Day Ever" kit but evidently that kit is no longer available (no wonder I got it for so cheap lol; yay clearance). It appears the only difference though, my kit included some items to prep the nails and foils to help remove polish. I'm so happy with my purchase I wanted to leave a review and this seems to be the closest thing to what I got. A couple extra notes for full context: 1) my only other experience with gel polish was years ago, purchasing an at home kit I saw in an infomercial. It did not go well. And 2) I'm not very good at painting nails. Very messy. But I still try because I love all the pretty colors. 😀 Gave myself a manicure last night and idk if it's the formula of the polish, the brush design, or both, but every step applied so quickly and easily! My hands are pretty shaky so usually I have to go really slow so my nails look somewhat decent. But this stuff seemed to just glide on perfectly with little effort. Even during the tacky phase of each step if I accidentally touched or bumped a nail, it didn't get messed up (this happened with the 1st kit years back). My manicure isn't flawless by any means but I think with some practice it'll get there. I can't afford regular trips to a salon to have pretty nails, so products like this are really great. I would highly recommend these kits and really looking forward to adding more polish colors to my collection!Summer
I am completely sold on this line! With right at eight years of experience using this product, I can say without a doubt, it is the best I have found for at home use. I highly recommend this line! I have spent lots of money paying to get my nails done, now I do not have to anymore! I do have one more thing to tell you…if you work with your hands, in any kind of chemicals, or have your hands in water almost 24/7, you will not like this, unless you use gloves. Chemicals can break down the adhesive in a short amount of time, therefore making the wear time much shorter than the two weeks I had told you about. I am a pharmacy technician and work with my hands a lot, I have had no trouble whatsoever keeping this gel polish line on. My sister however, it did not work so well for her. She is really rough on her hands (her words not mine) and refuses to use gloves (again her words not mine) when cleaning, so it wasn't a good fit for her. I'm a glove girl when it comes to cleaning, so that is just something to think about before you make your decision about your purchase of this product. I feel like anyone who loves to have their nails done and it look professional, this is definitely the ticket! The color I have on in my pictures below, is a discontinued color. I like the whole concept but the lilac blossom requires more than two applications since it’s very light. I have found a few lumps so for next time I’ll have to make sure that they are 100% clean and smooth. I got one nail a bit chipped the day after getting the mani. Really love this little set! Its so easy to use. I purchased the top coat about 2 weeks after getting the color and light, and do notice an improved lasting power with the top coat. The light dries each layer of polish well after 1 round and on the last coat I do 2 rounds of the light. Were doing a lot of swimming and im also renovating our house with hand washing and painting everyday and the polish is holding up well through all of that!Liz
I was really wary of this, because so many products out there are just not as good as they make themselves out to be. I am someone who really doesn't enjoy going to the nail salon and paying $60 for gels that sometimes last less than a week. Years ago, I even purchased my own full gel nail set (completely with the type of UV lamp they have at nail salons), and pretty much failed at that (it was really difficult to get it right). So, I usually just give up and where my nails plain and boring. I figured I may as well try this, and I have to say I am so pleased. I did my nails over a week ago and they are still in really good condition. Only a tiny piece has chipped off from one of my nails. And I use my hands a LOT. I immediately went and bought three more colors of this stuff. This product might finally allow me to be someone who keeps their nails nice and painted.Chelsey S.

This is a great kit! I've used it a few times now and the light is great, color lasts. Wonderful and recommended! I got another brand of colors and another base and top coat which keeps shine longer but over all, SO worth it! Read the instructions to apply correctly: specifically *don't apply all the way to cuticle* because it is thin and will spread out. Finish one hand and let it rest for a minute or so giving it time to spread and then cure under the light.Abigail
So let me just start by saying that I enjoy making my nails look pretty, like just about any other woman. I've tried it all – you name it! DIY acrylic kits, nail polish that is supposed to be "gel quality", dip powders, gluten-on nails. The whole shebang. I was skeptical at first when trying the Sensationail kit but GIRL let me tell you! This stuff has a fairly easy application process, the price is on point for what all is included and best of all.. IT LASTS! No chipping or anything of the sort and it looks like salon quality. I've tried it on my natural nails as well as using forms and it lasts with both. I've tried the raspberry wine, a gray color and a coral color as well and they're all such prettttty colors! So if you're ever wondering if you should try Sensationail products, please give this a try at least because I'm 99.9% sure you won't be disappointed. Also – everything that comes within the start kit, if you run out.. they sell extra that's separate so you don't have to buy a whole kit again!jordan.l
This product does truly stay on for a good 2 weeks or so. At the end of that time the biggest issue was my nail growth, so the gel polish works great. The raspberry wine color is very pretty-sorry of a magenta color. This is probably the most time consuming at home manicure I've ever done. The buffing, prepping/priming, and then 3 coats that go under the lamp took a long time. Be prepared to spend at least 30 min on your nails. There are some areas of the color that sort of thinned out while it cured, but I did pretty thin coats as the instructions said. But the fact that they stayed on for so long was very impressive. I have not removed it yet, but I expect it will take quite a bit of soaking in acetone.TiredMama5
