I received Essie Smooth-E basecoat as a #freeproduct to try for my honest review from #topboxcircle #trytopbox. I had never heard of this basecoat so I was intrigued as it stated it was a ridge filler and would give my nails a smooth finish to apply polish. I use a lot of dark colours especially blue that has a tendency to stain my nails. I did find that with the initial application it gave my nails a matte finish with an almost grippy feel and then I applied my Essie polish in a nice deep blue. It did dry quickly before I applied the polish. I have had the blue nail polish on for a few days and did find my nails chipped almost the next day so that was a little disappointing. The finish was nice and clean looking like a mani should be. I am not overly impressed though. I feel that there are better products on the market.CeeZee39
I absolutely love the entire Essie line, they always have high quality products. It’s my go to for my mani/pedis. The only issues I’ve come across is that my nail polish never lasted a week. It would constantly chip off, but since trying out this base coat that Essie brilliantly thought of, I no longer have that issue. Initially I was a bit skeptical about this product claiming to smooth the ridges in my nails. I recently had acrylic nails taken off and the removal process wrecked havoc on my nails. The surface of my nails were uneven and they were peeling. When I applied the base coat, I noticed that it filled in the weak spots in my nails. When I applied the nail polish on top, my nails felt so smooth. You would not be able to tell that my nails were damaged. Based on the reviews of Rosy Future OPI nail lacquer I was excited and looking forward to receiving my new nail polish. Wow! What a shock it turned out to be. One coat looked good and I should have stopped right there. Thinking it would look even better with two coats I eagerly added a second as it was easy to apply. One coat gave a beautiful sheer iridescent shimmering look. Adding a second coat gave me neon nails that resembled fluorescent lights. I will continue to use the Rosy Future but only one coat. I am disappointed because I think a manicure with two coats of polish lasts longer. But, the look with one coat is acceptable with top coat layers. This polish is not the winner that I expected but at the same time it is not a total loss either. I would recommend the Rosy Future because of its versatility. For those who like a sheer iridescent look it’s a winner. For those who like neon nails it’s also a winner. Enjoy your new nail polish! I absolutely love this top coat. I use it over Color Street Nails, but also for my daughter when she's painting her nails. It extends my manicure to 10 days, at least (I usually get sick of the color first and take it off). Dries very quick and gives a nice shiney coat. I don't usually need to reapply. I received this nail polish complimentary from Influenster in exchange for my honest opinion. I read a description of this which called it a "Barbie pink" and was immediately like "ugh great, bright pink!" I'm generally not a fan of pinks, but this one grew on me! I applied two coats of Two Timing the Zones over the OPI Natural Nail Base Coat, finishing it off with the OPI Top Coat. This polish bubbled, even after leaving 40+ minutes between coats, which was annoying! I ended up topping it with Essie's A Cut Above, which made already girly nails *even more* girly, and I actually liked it! This was again topped with another layer of the top coat. The polish chipped on my dominant hand within 3 days. Considering there's three layers on top, with the tips capped, that's pretty annoying! On my non-dominant hand, it chipped within 5. For me, it's not worth the price tag and I want far better longevity regardless of the price tag. It's around £15 in the UK, and I've got £1-2 Kiko polishes that perform better. I used this nail polish for the first time three days ago and I couldn't be happier with the result! For years I have had acrylic nails and have recently stopped because I don't have time to go and get them done with my new baby, so I decided to invest in some new nail polish and boy am I glad I did! I used the JINsoon Power Coat Strengthening Base Coat, followed by 2 coats of the Essie Light Lilac, then the JINsoon Top Gloss Quick Dry Top Coat, and finished off with the Essie Quick-e Drying Drops Nail Polish Treatment and my nail look AMAZING! They actually look like I've got shellac on. And what's even more amazing, they dried SUPER fast! It took me maybe 10-15 minutes to do the application, and then I let dry for maybe 20-30 minutes and they were completely set. I was able to get dinner ready and do the dishes straight away with no denting or smudging! This is a game changer! I'm now on day three and they still look as good as day 1! When it comes to nail polish, I tend to be quite skeptical especially since gel is a go-to. However, I was pleasantly surprised with this Essie polish due to its color, application and wear. In terms of color, this shade looks great with one coat or multiple depending on the look youre going for. And since it has a nice shimmer to it, it doesnt show imperfections or chips either. I love natural colors, so this one was an A+ for me. Because you can really build up the opacity of this polish, this made applying it really easy with three main swipes across the nail. And due to the shimmer, its really forgiving even if you do make a mistake. The brush was also quite flat and wide, which helped with the application process. (Drying time was quite short especially if you do thin layers). This polish was also great in terms of wear and is still holding up well after a good week of wearing it. Granted I did apply a topcoat, this still held up through housework and doing dishes by hand. In all, Im a big fan of this shade of Essie polish and think it would be perfect year round if not an easy to upkeep color in the summer months on my fingers and toes.AleksandraM
I am obsessed with Essie, that’s all I have bought since 10 years ago. I have tried Tuck it in my Tux and few others and decided Marshmallow has the best hue!!!! I love the color, not too white not pink, just right. The formula however is horrible. The first couple of times after opening the bottle is great except in order not to get streaks you have to apply 3 coats. After a few days of opening the bottle, the formula gets thick and clumpy and not usable!!! Also, the mandatory 3 layers make the nail polish to peel off in a day or two because it’s simply two thick and rubber feel like almost. Please note this is a constructive review for Essie, I am asking you to please change this formula since I love your products. I would love others to enjoy this wonderful nail polish but at this stage I am not able to use this color anymore. I don’t like anything with sparkle or shine and neither one of your colors mimic marshmallows. The open bottles show the clumps on top. Unfortunately my video would not upload. I was sick of the colours you would get from OPI or the drugstore that just felt a bit too childish – I love pink and purple but I don’t need my nails to look like a kids bedroom wall. This duo gets the job done but not the best compared to others. The base doesn’t always lay smoothly and that really shows on the polish. The top coat takes forever to dry and even when it’s been cured it still has a tacky feeling to it which can leave marks on your polish. DND was the first gel polish company I used. So naturally I knew nothing how about other brands. I use the top coat majority of the time when I was learning how to do nails. With that being said I loved it until I started doing more research. This top coat is not as shiny as I would like it to be, now that I have been using other brands. I have since than moved on to nailsupplyglamour top coat. What has bothered me about this brand top coat is once you use alcohol to wipe off the top layer it instantly gets dull. Now I know this is not a top coat that you need to wipe, but if you accidentally got something on it and you need to wipe it off you definitely can't use alcohol. I have since used with many other gel color brands and they work wonderfully. The top coat is NOT super-thick, like some other brands, so I use as little as possible. Also, be sure not to tilt your nails to the sides when putting into the LED/UV curing machine (doing so may result in pooled topcoat at the sides of the nail, if you have used a little too much). I typically cure my thumbs separately, so that all my fingers lay FLAT in the curing lamp. The finish is beautifully shiny and does require the sticky film to be removed with alcohol after curing the final coat. So far, so good! It is rather fast-drying, especially for as thick and gel-like as it is. It's definitely not as thick as a layer of gel in the salon, but I'd say a little thicker and richer than regular nail polish and top coat. I love that it's versatile enough to wear over any polish. Currently have it over a ColorStreet set. Pro tip – I put them on for a week, file down a bit, and apply top coat for the second week. Brilliant!Emily4280
Easy to work with. Goes on smoothly and is nicely thick on the nail. Self-leveling which minimizes unwanted visible brush strokes. Reapply every other day or every three days max. Gives me a cushiony gel manicure look with lots of shine but removes easily with nail polish remover. Wipes off; no soaking or scrubbing necessary. It also dries down fairly quickly.Happy lady
I actually like the Seche Vive a bit better than the Seche Vite. It is thicker, which I like, but truthfully you probably only get to use half the bottle because it becomes very viscous and hard when you get down to the bottom. I usually pick Seche up on sale or at an off-price retailer, so I don't mind that I am unable to use all the product. It gives a plump, gel effect and lasts longer than any other topcoat I've tried. Plus, it has an unmistakable, glossy sheen that other topcoats can't compete with. Word of warning- it is POTENT stuff- I can't paint my nails with this near my spouse or he complains of being woozy from the chemical smell. *rolls eye* the things we do for beauty!aly.s

This brand is my go-to nail polish. I love that the bottles aren't obnoxiously huge and I can travel with them. They are also made of thick glass and I have dropped them on numerous occasions and no catastrophe of nail polish on my floors. Could you imagine? Anyways, the formula goes on not too thin and not too thick. Easily dispersed on my fingernails. I can easily blaze through my coats and it wear well into many days without chipping. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this nail hardener. It keeps my nails super protected – they're prone to break and they haven't broken since I started using it. It adds a shine that makes my nails look like gel nails, which I love because gel manicures just destroy my nails. However, the shine is not very long lasting but I usually apply a coat whenever my polish is looking dull and it dries in 1 minute, which is so much more time-conscious than going to a salon to get a high-shine finish or just redoing my nails entirely. It also keeps the polish from chipping, and it's not one of those hardeners that cracks after 2 or 3 days. I seriously love this product. I'm also constantly washing dishes and the polish holds up perfectly. I can't say enough good words about this product. It's a life-saver for me!sofialengua
I do like the way this looks on my nails. It looks thicker on the nail than other top coats. However, you have to be like Goldilocks with application and use an amount that’s just right. If you use too much- your nails will never dry! Or you’ll think they are dry and then end up with a “dent” in one of them the next day. You must follow the instructions! I thought I knew how to paint my nails, already… but this is a bit different. I gave it 3 stars because of the price. You pay a lot of money for such a tiny bottle. I knew that before I bought it, but I just had to have it! Although it looked nice on, I’m in no hurry to make a second purchase because it takes so long to get it just right on my nails. I have tried so many different ridge fillers, but as far I knew this the best one found. My nail ridges differs on each nail, so I do apply 3 coats and my nails feel smooth and when I apply nail polish it dries smoothly not bumpy. You know your nail polish looks wacky not smooth which causes frustration on my part. Also I am very rough with my hands, but as everything ages so does your nails. I will order again for sureKaruna
Need to apply a really thin coat (which means it will last longer ;). I finished my left hand and then did my right hand, and there were globs of product on the right sides of my nails on my left hand, meaning gravity is a big factor if you use more than just a very minimal amount. Dries relatively quickly. Thanks to whoever posted about having to apply polish after the coat, otherwise the base coat will peel off. Very much looking forward to my polish lasting longer, that's for sure. I love Mavala products and hope this results in stronger, longer nails. Will try and update. UPDATE: I put two coats of a Mavala nail polish, and two days later it peeled. I was able to scratch the polish right off all my nails, leaving bare nails. So I tried putting this product by itself and, indeed, it also is simply peeling right off. Next trial run: put a different brand of polish after this product. I used this nail polish for the first time three days ago and I couldn't be happier with the result! For years I have had acrylic nails and have recently stopped because I don't have time to go and get them done with my new baby, so I decided to invest in some new nail polish and boy am I glad I did! I used the JINsoon Power Coat Strengthening Base Coat, followed by 2 coats of the Essie Light Lilac, then the JINsoon Top Gloss Quick Dry Top Coat, and finished off with the Essie Quick-e Drying Drops Nail Polish Treatment and my nail look AMAZING! They actually look like I've got shellac on. And what's even more amazing, they dried SUPER fast! It took me maybe 10-15 minutes to do the application, and then I let dry for maybe 20-30 minutes and they were completely set. I was able to get dinner ready and do the dishes straight away with no denting or smudging! This is a game changer! I'm now on day three and they still look as good as day 1! I was sick of the colours you would get from OPI or the drugstore that just felt a bit too childish – I love pink and purple but I don’t need my nails to look like a kids bedroom wall. This nail polish is what I’ve been looking for! Subtle and creamy this just looks expensive on and is definitely for that ballerina off duty aesthetic everyone’s into atm. I usually redo my nails weekly – this nail polish last for that time. It does chip after that but I don’t use a base or top coat. I have used this brand for about a decade and though I have tried other brands of base and top coats, I keep coming back to Seche Vite every single time. There is just something about the formulation that makes my polish last for over a week without chipping. For some reason no other brand of base/top coat does that for me. I don't bother with other brands even if there's a special sale. This really is the best for a long lasting manicure and a beautiful shine. Side perk: it seems to make my two to three layers of polish dry much quicker than normal (I don't usually wait for each layer to dry fully). Seche Vute is my ride or die.
I use the Seche Clear base coat combined with the Seche Clear Fast dry top coat. The combination keeps my nails protected, strong, and my manicures last at least a week. I like the width of the brush, it’s just wide enough to cover the nail in 2-3 strokes but not make a mess. The base coat dries pretty quickly so you don’t have to wait long to start applying your polish. I highly recommend Seche products.stevie.m
I love this brand for and I thought that it would be just as good as a base coat. It is just as good and the top coat. It dries quickly and is clear. It makes my nails look so healthy and shiny just by itself. I have used this for a while now and I do think it helps my polish stay on longer. If it didn't – I would skip this step to make polishing faster. It doesn't smell any strong odor when using this base coat. I will buy this again when I run out. i cant say enough good things about opi. i use so many of their products. this product is a 3 in 1. it works as a base coat, a top coat, and a strengthening formula. it’s clear, but it looks so good on the nail. it’s strengthens my nails really well. and it’s easy to apply other coats to it if you want. or stickers. would definitely recommend!jennifer.f
I absolutely love OPI polishes especially the brush they come with. But I have to say it, this product IS TERRIBLE! I rarely write negative reviews, but this one gets an exception. It never fully sets, so it smudges and I wake up with sheet marks. I have given this topcoat 5 different tries, thinking it must've been user error. The last time I tried it was an experiment to make sure it's the topcoat and not my polish. One hand was painted with 3 coats of polish with no topcoat, the other hand was 2 coats polish, one very thin coat of topcoat. Both sides used the OPI drying drops, then I sat still without touching anything for 4 hours before bed. I woke up the next morning to find the no topcoat side perfect, the topcoat side was smudged on every finger. It's unequivocally this topcoat. I'm disappointed and surprised that OPI would make and distribute such a sub-par product. Probably going to switch to a gel topcoat from here.aleksandra.s
Love this from OPI! OPI has recently become my new fave brand when it comes to nails. The finishing base coat and top coat work emmensly and has the quickest drying time I’ve ever experienced! They’ve knocked all my other nail products out the park! I was super pleased with my application process. So many nail salons use the brand OPI and it has been featured in Hollywood movies!
