This is an insanely strong fast nailer. I had originally set it up for bump nailing and found that I did not have the skill level to deal with this setup so after putting a nail through a window I switched it back to just the regular trigger setup. It's actually surprising how fast a guy can fly through 100 nails. Anyhow I used this nailer for framing (3 1/2 inch nails) and building my own trusses. There are a good variety of nail sizes but they range from 2 1/2 inches to 3 1/2 inches to be exact. Spiral nails are also available. The down side is the price of these nails should be compared with the competing nailers as in some cases they seem to be twice the price. But with that being said, the price of these nails should not really be the main deciding factor considering the amount of labour costs you are saving. Also check for nail availability locally before buying this tool, my local shops really were limited on stock. Still a fantastic tool and not a glitch, well except that plastic nose opiece does tend to fall off on occasion. Another note, don't use clipped nails for construction that will be inspected, most areas won't allow them but for some funny reason the nails are widely available.Ron

I've never used a framing nailer, but I have several upcoming projects around the house that allowed me to justify this purchase. The refurb I ordered was basically pristine (as is pretty much the case with all the many tools I've purchased refurbished from CPO). Required a $2 adapter from my local, orange home improvement center in order to attach to my incredibly inexpensive 6-gal air compressor. Manual and bump fire trigger were included. While I have no basis for comparison, I thought this nailer was comfortable to use, nicely balanced, and the tip bit with tenacity into 2x4s I nailed together for some basement shelves. I set my cheapo compressor to somewhere between 70-80 psi and got reliable, consistent performance with 3" Bostitch fasteners. No double fires or anything weird. This nailer is a joy to use. Definitely the most fun tool currently in my posession and quite a time saver. I'm a fan.dm

I received this nailer a few weeks ago and have used it on a couple of small projects. I've only had the chance to test it with 3" plain nails, no ringshank or galvanized yet. The nailer does a good job with the 3" nails, driving them fully into most woods. On a particularly hard piece of old wood it left the nail heads up just a bit and I needed to finish with a hammer, one hit each, so not too bad. Also, the nailer doesn't have the weight to resist itself so you have to press it into the wood a little more than you may expect. Cycle time is reasonably fast, faster than I expected but still slower than a pneumatic. I didn't get a chance to test the longevity of the battery, I drove several hundred nails and had battery left. Overall this is a good nailer, I don't know if I'd call it heavy duty. I'll be curious to see how it does on treated wood with galvanized ringshanks, I may need to update this review, we'll see. Right now I'd say it's a quality, medium duty nailer. First, this nailer was much heavier than I expected. It's bigger and heavier than my DeWalt air-powered nailer. I guess that's to be expected since this is fully-contained and the battery alone adds quite a bit of weight. I was surprised at how well this would sink nails. Also surprised that it would fire in pretty rapid succession one after another. I used this on a project out away from the house — that's where it's value really comes to light. No need to try to string electric to the job or have an air compressor hooked up. When you are remote from power or air, and you need a nailer, this is a great solution. It gets the job done! Adjustment on how deep the nails are set is effective, simple, and seems to hold pretty true across the life of a battery. I was going to give this 4 stars because it's so heavy, but that would be like complaining that a sledge hammer is heavy. It's a nailer that contains its own power-plant and power source. So I had received this product this past Wednesday. Immediately that night I had put it to use at my house doing some remodeling, prior to using at customers houses. I was extremely impressed this evening with it. I had other batteries fully charged since one with kit wasnt charged. It drove the nails in fully and was fast and able to keep up accordingly with my pace. Did not jam one time. I really like the belt/rafter hook. Extremely durable and heavy duty with was definately a bonus in my eyes. The battery lasted longer than I anticipated and working amazingly the entire time. I wish this kit would have came with the heavy duty hard case however the soft bag is still something to keep it protected. This nailer worked the same the past 3 days at customer properties, not once jammed and worked precisely. So far I cant say anything negative about the nailer. I would definitely recommend this product to my friends and family, any other contractor out there also. Dewalt once again awesome product and you definately proved yourself with this nailer.Josh47

A real step up from the HF junk. Holds plenty of nails. Only had it a couple weeks, but hasn't missed a beat. As with many nailers, they don't shoot about the last 4 nails. This one, you just add more and keep going. Some will jam if you run out of nails. I like it.srhiss85

I used this framing nailer for about 3 years before Milwaukee came out with the M18 version and I upgraded. The nailer is very well balanced and is very consistent in sinking in 3” nails into wood. For the 3 years I used this nailer it did not jam on me ever and at that time I was doing a lot of framing throughout the year. Gets the job done!!Young
