This is the best nail polish system I’ve ever tried. My only complaint is the base coat get cloudy, which I know to put in hot water, but I had a base coat get hard on me half way through the bottle, and would not soften, so it was wasted. I received Essie Smooth-E basecoat as a #freeproduct to try for my honest review from #topboxcircle #trytopbox. I had never heard of this basecoat so I was intrigued as it stated it was a ridge filler and would give my nails a smooth finish to apply polish. I use a lot of dark colours especially blue that has a tendency to stain my nails. I did find that with the initial application it gave my nails a matte finish with an almost grippy feel and then I applied my Essie polish in a nice deep blue. It did dry quickly before I applied the polish. I have had the blue nail polish on for a few days and did find my nails chipped almost the next day so that was a little disappointing. The finish was nice and clean looking like a mani should be. I am not overly impressed though. I feel that there are better products on the market.CeeZee39
I absolutely love the entire Essie line, they always have high quality products. It’s my go to for my mani/pedis. The only issues I’ve come across is that my nail polish never lasted a week. It would constantly chip off, but since trying out this base coat that Essie brilliantly thought of, I no longer have that issue. Initially I was a bit skeptical about this product claiming to smooth the ridges in my nails. I recently had acrylic nails taken off and the removal process wrecked havoc on my nails. The surface of my nails were uneven and they were peeling. When I applied the base coat, I noticed that it filled in the weak spots in my nails. Rubber cement is the bond of choice for many paper to paper/cardboard projects. It doesn't curl as some other glues. But in the can, it thickens in time. You MUST have rubber cement THINNER to get it back to the consistency it needs to be in. Add thinner to the can of thickened cement, and mix, add, mix, mix, until you have the right consistency. Oh My Gosh!!! I about fainted when I saw DickBlick was selling Bestine solvent/thinner again! I've been using the little bit of Bestine solvent/thinner I had left very, very sparingly. I admit, I have been very stingy with it. I didn't know when it would be available again! I teach graphic design at a 4-year university. Two of the classes I teach are 1) Packaging and 2) Senior Portfolio. (By the way, these are my favorite classes.) Anyway, my students have to buy actual products at the store to put their designs on. They first have to remove the actual label from each product. Some of the adhesives used by the manufacturers are really strong (read annoying) and take a lot, a lot of effort to remove. I buy Goo Gone, Duck Brand Adhesive Remover and WD40. Although these do a 'pretty good' job, they don't necessarily remove ALL the adhesive and its residue. Once they have exhausted all possible methods of removing the adhesive I tell them I have some 'magic stuff' in my office I will try on the label. I take their product, go to my office, get out my Bestine and use it to get the remaining label off the product. It works EVERY time! I don't let my students come with me as I don't want them to know I have it; they will use it all! Life had been difficult, even painful without my Bestine. So glad it is back! I've been using Bestine Solvent Thinner since I started working in the Graphic Design business back in the early 70's. It was used then to thin rubber cement which was used for mechanical art production. I have been experimenting with more natural nail polishes and polish removers. My nail tech used regular nail polish on my nails and when it was time to remove the polish I used what I had at home Mineral Fusion nail polish remover. The instructions said to saturate a nail wipe I used a cotton ball, and to leave it on the nail for a few seconds. It actually worked. It safely removed all of my polish without harmful fumes or chemicals. My nails are not dried out either. Any negative reviews on this product is most likely due to not reading the directions and using it properly. You must saturate a nail wipe or cotton ball and leave it on the nail for several seconds. This product does work well even on glitter nail polish. I do a pinkish neutral shade and then paint some abstract lines of a gold glitter polish over the nude shade but the glitter part was always quite difficult to remove. Mineral fusion does take off the glitter l, though it does take a little extra rubbing. I have no idea how people can say this does not have a strong smell or that it smells like mango. I think it smells awful although maybe not as strong the drugstore brands. It certainly is less drying and less toxic than other brands and this definitely is the remover I will continue to buy.Anonymous
I have started using color street nails. I recently tried removing them with non acetone polish remover. Oh man, it smelled awful and stung like crazy. I saw a YouTube video of a lady using this remover to get the polish off. She put a little of the remover in a plastic sandwich bag and moved her hand around and rubbed the nails a little. So, I bought it, and gave it a try. Is it weird that Im in love with a nail polish remover It worked amazingly, smelled nice, scent disappeared quickly, and my nails feel conditioned. I absolutely love OPI polishes especially the brush they come with. But I have to say it, this product IS TERRIBLE! I rarely write negative reviews, but this one gets an exception. It never fully sets, so it smudges and I wake up with sheet marks. I have given this topcoat 5 different tries, thinking it must've been user error. The last time I tried it was an experiment to make sure it's the topcoat and not my polish. One hand was painted with 3 coats of polish with no topcoat, the other hand was 2 coats polish, one very thin coat of topcoat. Both sides used the OPI drying drops, then I sat still without touching anything for 4 hours before bed. I woke up the next morning to find the no topcoat side perfect, the topcoat side was smudged on every finger. It's unequivocally this topcoat. I'm disappointed and surprised that OPI would make and distribute such a sub-par product. Probably going to switch to a gel topcoat from here.aleksandra.s

it does a very good job on cleaning brushes. You don't have to use lots of it, so it last a while. It has an average smell, so an open window is sufficient for ventilation, if you are sensitive to a smell. Its not a big issue. The product was damanged when it arrived. That meant it leaked although most of it is in there. The bottle isn't well designed either though and is very awkward to pour. The previous brand I boguth had the nozzle near one edge and that meant I never spilled anything. Putting the nozzle dead center wasn't particularly bright although it is my fault for missing that detail before I ordered. The product itself seems average. It works as well as most paint thinner but you'll waste some of your moeny due to the design.mem

I use Lacquer thinner for all my garage and workshop cleaning needs. This Klean Strip brand is amazing! It evaporates very quickly on items I have cleaned. Grease on car parts is no match for it. This lacquer thinner works quite well for me. I use it to clean out my brushes and air brush components. I also do a lot of model painting which uses up a bunch of brushes.
