20 Best Nail Supply (2024 Update)

Luckily I am a nerd and do thorough research on everything I'm about to buy.. so I anticipated needed a few other supplies *SUCH AS A CLEAR DIP POWDER* because this set only comes with Natural. Which is fine, I added a pot of Clear to my basket as well. After that I had all the tools and tutorials I needed to finish a natural looking set (with tips and rhinestone nail art) in under an HOUR my first try! Listen, I used to spend my ENTIRE Sunday doing a set of gels for myself, now that I'm in school I literally do not have the time.. and press ons kept popping off no matter how I applied. This set gives you all the instructions, is super comprehensive, and produces beautiful, strong nails in the simpliest, most user friendly way to get beautiful nails. I don't think I need to revisit gel. It's so messy and detail oriented. Low chemical, but I still had moments where I slipped a mask on to manage fumes.Chaya A.

I absolutely adore Kiara Sky Dip products! I’ve been using them for about three years total now, and I love the quality, the results, and all of the different colors available. It’s by far my favorite dip powder out of any other powders out there. I’ve tried quite a few on the market and this one is always my go to. The colors are vibrant and very pigmented, and the quality is outstanding. I bought this kit to teach myself how to do my own nails at home. I thoroughly love anything I can do myself at home. My nails tend to crack easily, gel doesn't always keep them sturdy and going to the salon every 2 weeks to get them done (gel or dip) is not in my budget. So I bought this kit to give my nails some strength while also looking great. Plus I suck at polish. I always get it everywhere when using my non-dominant hand to paint. The included instructions are pretty basic and give you a step by step guide that you need to be successful. It also helps that Kiara Sky has a YouTube channel to show you exactly how to do the dip manicure with the starter kit so with the included instructions and YT video, it's pretty fool proof. My first manicure was good, not great but for my very first attempt, I'd say it went pretty well! There are a few tools you will need that are not included in the kit and that includes a buffer block, nail file, manicure sticks and a fluffy brush to brush off excess powder left on your fingers (I used a clean makeup brush that I no longer use and it worked fine). I also like that the kit includes a brush saver to clean the polishes included and extra brush heads incase you need to replace them (This was nice as I pulled the bristles out of the topcoat head by mistake when wiping it off after using the brush saver). Overall, this kit is awesome. It takes a few tries to get used to but once you get the hang of it, you fly through it!Talia D.

This was the first time I've ever done a successful nail extension on myself. I am incredibly impressed with this kit. My thumbs are too big for the largest tip in the set but I was able to combat that problem by using additional builder gel to create a perfect fit. I recommend shaping the cuticle area of the tip before you place them if your cuticle area is more round. I was able to create a custom fitting set successfully and I am sure it will go quicker next time. I would suggest having a nail drill and full hand curing lamp on hand for ease of use. I do not have a full hand curing lamp at this time so I was able to do my nails individually with the lamp provided. But seriously would be time saving to invest in a full size lamp lol. For someone who is new to gel polish and diy nail extensions this was very self explanatory and easy to follow. Would recommend to everyone!!Makenna M.

So user tip. Start with your pinky. Work your way towards your first finger and thumb. Otherwise trying to hold the nail down and use it light will be really hard. if you start with your pinky you can have full use of first finger and thumb till the very end. I chose the medium length. I have done my nails 4 times now. Twice I had a nail pop off. My thumb but that’s cuz I’m a cashier and I gripped something and used my nail not my actual thumb. I wish they had a way for you to just order your size nails once you know your nail size. They give you 00-10 I think and obviously you’re gonna be left with nails you can’t use cuz they don’t fit. Hardest part is holding the nail down to keep air pockets out while pressing the uv light button which as on the BACK of the uv light. Not very user friendly. A push down button on front base would have been smarter. So one star loss for that reason. Either way I love this kit. This picture is after a week of growth and my first attempt at ombré glitter, not easy so I can see a lot of errors.Jack

I’ve been doing my own nails for about 2-3 years now, and the part I’ve always hated the most is having to apply the nail product — whether that’s polygel, gel, or acrylic — because I’m a perfectionist and it takes me forever to do so. This kit cuts the time that I would usually take to do my nails in half. Applying them takes a little practice the first time you use the kit, but by the time you’re on your other hand, it’s much easier. I’ve applied fake full-cover tips with gel bottom coat polish before and they don’t last NEARLY as long as these. As I’m typing this out, I still have a set on that I applied over 5 weeks ago. While they’ve definitely grown out, I’m still not seeing any lifting whatsoever at the cuticle. Doing a fill-in is super easy with these as well, which should help save product overtime and make keeping your nails up much easier. Highly recommend!Moses P.

Worth it, I don’t see acrylics lasting much longer in the nail salon industry so this would be a great alternative as apposed to hard gels which is a lot harder to practice. If you’re a beginner nail tech and looking to move up in the world of nail enhancements this is your best bet. No more worrying about powder to liquid ratios and it does dry until you cure it. Ive never tried Polygel before and from watch Nail Career Educations YouTube videos about it I knew I needed to try it. From learning how to do nails on my own from YouTube videos, and having no acrylic or gel experience, I feel like Polygel is the perfect product to play with to perfect the proper nail structure (especially the apex which is especially important since I wear my natural nails very long). Polygel is also amazing since it will never cure unless you put it under a lamp, so you have all the time to get the shape you want so you can save time and effort on filing later. I purchased the NailTek Nail Recovery Kit after my nails were slightly damaged from using gel nail polish. I used this product for a few weeks and my nails got weaker and more brittle. I could not grow my nails at all and they would break while so short that they hurt. I stopped using this product and switched to Sally Hansen Advanced Hard as Nails Strengthener. My nails are finally growing and looking much healthier. I would not spend the money on this product.Tina

I got this in a whim. My nails have been all ridged and flaking ever since the pandemic started. The hand sanitizer and not getting acrylics anymore combined with age and they just look d awful, it sucked. Polish doesn't last and I tried other similar products that peeled or flakes much more easily. I am a hair dresser snd pretty rough with my hands so it does peel off occasionally but I am super impressed with this product's durability! The main thing I noticed right away is that over the years my nails had become flatter and wider, this product seems to have encouraged them back to their proper arched shape and they are much easier to shape the same same now.Betsy

This is the second time I purchased this product. I thought I may not have properly used the product the first time it was purchased. Because QVC so highly recommends this product I decided I would purchase it again and try to use it as recommended. I have twice used this purchase as recommended and decided that this flat out is not worth the money. Nail polish purchased from drug stores and big box stores far exceed this product. Why are we hearing such false claims? After using the product twice as recommended, I found that it started coming off in less than a day. I did the auto ship so forgot to cancel after the first set. So received 2 different sets. The colors look pretty but the second set was basically all the same light pink color and go on clearish and took several coats. The polish doesn't go on smoothly and is just different from regular nail polish since it's some sort of Gel polish. It chipped off the same day, so don't let the Gel fool you, I think regular nail polish would stay on longer. The only thing I liked was how fast they seemed to dry. Other than that, I don't like this product at all. Gave it only 1 star for drying time. I may send back the second set, the first set is too late.pageRus

I was never a big fan of the pink gel coat, so when I saw this set with a clear and Ruby gel, I thought I’d give it a try. I’m prefer this Ruby shade and very happy with the other colors as well! The color trio is far superior to other Perfect Formula gel colors I’ve used. The others I’ve tried have been too opaque and went on unevenly and streaky. Not this trio! They are a little translucent and “gel” like in appearance, go on very smoothly and not streaky and are all wearable! I’m so surprised as I thought I’d only use the pale pink polish and was still pleased with the price, but will happily use all items in this set. Also, the size of the brushes in each bottle os wide and have an oval cut tip, which is my favorite. I recall the old Perfect formula brushes were thinner with very long squared-off bristles so I was not a huge fan of the brand for that reason. I see a lot of improvement and will continue to purchase PF now given the quality of this set. Also, the trio of color polishes come in a nice box together, which would make a great gift, so the entire set is a steal!MrsQ2022

Honestly! These were a bit of a challenge for me to get use to. The curve was different but not bad. I actually enjoyed doing these nails. I painted them with gel polish making them extra durable. I later on was able to trim them down and I currently still have them on a week later. No lifting or anything. These are good quality press on tips.Jemina

Love these!! They aren’t super long so it’s not that big a deal if you want to file them down so they work perfectly. The only issue I had was getting the nails to look more symmetrical when I filed them down to almond shapes. When applying, you have to make sure you put nail glue on both your natural and fake nail to make it last! Nails fell off after 3-5 days for me (I pick at my cuticles way too much, that def factored in). Overall, awesome value for the price and they look beautiful!!Baily Martha

I have always been a nail biter so my nails are not very long. I wanted to have nice nails for a formal event and decided to buy these. They’re much better that I thought they would be. I painted it with regular nail polish and topped it with a gel glitter polish. The gel cure allowed the nails to be a lot stronger which I love. I also painted the nails before gluing it to prevent the mess. My only complaint is that the glue is very strong. Both a pro and a con. It sticks very well but can be messy. I definitely had some left over on my finger. Overall, I would recommend.angelkxss

These nails are gorgeous and I was so excited to get them. However, even with the natural, the c curve is so severe, it is impossible for me to get the nail to adhere to my nail bed. Total waste of money for me. Well, at least I know now and will not be buying anymore.P.S.

Some background on me: I like the idea of manicures, but I haven't had a professional one in years. I hate that they mess around so much with my cuticles. I hate the smell. I hate that gels need to be soaked and scratched off. I have SUPER fast growing and hard fingernails, so even a gel manicure is too grown out at about 10 days. A regular manicure chips off in literally a second.. not even worth the time to apply. I got a competitors product in a subscription box (3x the price, "custom" fit nails). When I heard you could peel them off like a sticker, but there were durable as gels, I was intrigued. I tried those and loved that they applied easily and did last for about 10 days (those broke down at day 10 because my nail growth was getting too long). When it was time to remove, they did easily peel off, though those left a gunky glue on my nails that I had to remove with polish. The other brand was also almost too short to cover my whole nail, so when I wanted to try it again I looked for another brand. When I saw the price on these, I was not expecting much. I loved these. Since then I have used them every week for 5 weeks and I have stocked up on a wardrobe of them.. seriously about 30 packs.. to keep up my mani for the rest of the year. Here's what I've learned: – These are not as durable as the pricier brand. The edge will start to peel up on my two pointer fingers around day 5.. they last from Sunday night to Saturday morning. Then I take them off, file and condition my nails, then apply again on Sunday night. – These peel off PERFECTLY.. no gunk or residue. – It is SUPER important to apply with no wrinkles. The wrinkles will not "flatten out" – instead the color will peel off, looking chipped, and it will really shorten the life of the manicure as the edges start to detach. Apply carefully, and use something to press (hard) and smooth all edges. You'll get better with practice, and it will keep the stickers lasting at least a week+Boss Lady

I appreciated the relative ease of application. You find a sticker that is closest to nail size, opting for slightly smaller if you’re in between. Then you place it and pull it taut over the top of your nail, using the provided file to remove the excess. And that’s about it. The first time I did this, it took a while to get used to it but everything applied flat. The second time, it was a lot faster but I got some wrinkles. Make sure your nails are totally clean when you apply it. I love that they don’t chip, regardless of the design. They last longer than two weeks, the only downside being the growth you see due to time. Removal is pretty easy. You can soak your nails in water and start to peel them off easily. I’ve also peeled without soaking but don’t recommend that. I took one star off because of what happens to my nails after I use this. It really dries out the surface of my nails and leaves a white cast. I even have a chip across the surface of my nails, which was really bad. I think I would still use this for a special occasion, but it is brutal when you’re done so you need aftercare.mary anne.m

I'm comparing Dashing Diva to the Color Street nail strips I typically use – but to be fair they're not really the same thing. DD nail strips are not real nail polish, and they're basically nail stickers. Here's my takeaway: Pros- Last longer than CS because they're not actual nail polish. A big issue I have with CS is that the polish tends to chip and crack after the first few days of wear. Not the case with DD. Easy to remove, no acetone necessary. Convenient to buy since they're sold in stores. Cons- Because they're not real polish, you can't put a bigger size nail strip on your nail. You have to size down so their may be gaps between your nail and the strip unless you happen to have the perfect size cuticle for the DD nail strips. A bit tricky to apply in that once the strip creases there's no fixing it. There's more flexibility in the CS nail strips, so if you crease those you can lift and reapply with no visible crease. Not the case with DD, so I was just extra careful. I had a bit of creasing on the tips of one nail, but I think I need to be more careful when filing and make sure to only file down- not side to side. We'll see if that helps the next time I try these. Overall good for the price, and I'll definitely grab another pack in a different color.AP

I am not a professional manicurist but I enjoy doing my own nails at home. I own a LED light and many gel nail polishes but haven't mastered the french tip look. I went to CVS to purchase the whole artificial french tip nail set but then I saw this kit. I followed the directions, including starting with doing your dominant hand first, which makes sense. I agree with the previous comment…yes, the brush in the gel product dried out right away and became too stiff to make smooth lines. Unfortunately, I had to exchange the first kit I bought because, though it was unopened, the gel brush was missing! I suggest opening the kit as soon as you buy it to make sure all bottles have brushes in them. I'm going to purchases nail polish brushes separately so I always have extras when one dries out. The instructions make it seem like all three bottles should come with brushes but my second kit was missing the brush for the activator. I think maybe you use the brush on the cleaner bottle for the activator interchangeably. I'm a fan and I will definitely be buying this product again.Niters

I did my nails with the white French tip 4 days ago and they're still on and still strong! I have 4 kids and all day I'm picking up toys, upending things and just constantly using my hands and none have broke yet. When I go get my nails done I always have 1 that will break after a 2 days or at most a week! And I pay $60 just for 1 to break so soon. My only complaint about these is you get one wear from each side. Need smaller sizes but you can file them smaller. Just wish more came in the pack. I am buy this again!Bernaybish

I almost returned this after reading reviews elsewhere. But I figured for $14, it's worth a shot when Ulta has a fab return policy. READ the directions IN FULL before you try this. They say to use a clean paper towel after filing for a reason- dust will make your gel look textured and less shiny (and less professional looking). Like another review said, I also wish there were more smaller sizes so that there's less waste, but I think I'll try filing the sides of those tips down to make them work. I used the French tips and filed them to a cute almond shape.KK
