Grey Paula Young Wigs For Sale (2024 Update)

Nora is a delightful fluff and go style with waves and almost curls. I got it in color 38, which is light ash brown with grey. It is supposed to be light ash brown with 25 percent grey (it seems a bit more than that;) It would be nice if Paula Young had at least one style featured in this color. The ash brown is very close to my natural color (a bit lighter) but Nora has more grey than I do personally. Nora arrived smelling absolutely wretched; I almost gagged when I opened the box. I had to wash the wig immediately. I used Paula Young shampoo. I thought I detected the (fumigant?) odor even after the wash, but when Nora dried, she no longer smelled. When I first put her on after she'd dried she was not pretty and the curls were mashed against the cap. I shook her vigorously and then took a wide tooth comb and really brought the fibers up off the cap. I wasn't rough, but I was deliberate in going over the entire wig to revive the fibers. I was able to achieve a style very similar to the catalog photo. In my photos, Nora has a more shag-like appearance, but once on she can be fluffed to the rounded silhouette of the catalog photo. Nora fits my 22.25 inch head comfortably and could be adjusted to go even a bit larger, or smaller. I find the fibers dry to the touch and just a bit coarser than my own very fine hair (although Nora's fiber does not look coarse.) Nora is comfortable to wear and an adorable style that goes with dressy as well as casual outfits. If you are prepared to spend a few moments waking Nora up after you first get her home, I think you will be pleasantly surprised at her fluff and go versatility. Coverage around the ears and nape is great.Lisa

When this DANCE wig and COLOR ME EXQUISITE wigs arrived, upon removing them from the box they were cute, and the colors were pretty and the best thing they had going for them, However, they didn't look much like the ones the models in the pictures wore. And there is too much perma tease or "fluff" to them. They had really no style to them at all. Especially in the front, just couldn't do much with them. And didn't want to try since being careful with them is a must when trying them on. Very disappointed with these wigs. In my humble opinion they were not great and not keepers. So I am returning them and probably won't buy anymore wigs again. Sorry PY but your wigs need to be lighter weight, lay nicer, (some of us like a bit flatter style) far less perma tease or fluff, easier to wear right out of the box…Thanks anyway…Juanita

I am completely disappointed with my purchase. I ordered two of this wig because I really like the look of the style in the picture. The wigs I received will not comb into the style shown. The top is spiked and will only stand straight up and the bangs stick straight out and will not lay nicely against the forehead. I tried to tame it down with wig spray and hair gel but it won't lay down. The top hair stands straight up and the bangs stick straight out. The wig will not comb into a nice smooth pixie like the picture shows. I would not recommend a person buy this wig unless you want spiked hair that stands straight up at the top of your head and bangs that stick straight out at your forehead. The style does not resemble the picture at all !Eve

After I received my order it was apparent that the color was just not a good one for me. I had ordered two wigs, both the same color and found that in person they were just very fake and not a natural look at all. I sent them back and then after reading the instruction found that over half the amount I paid for them was to be deducted due to the various charges they put on returns. I am very upset at this change in policy and cannot see myself using Paula Young Wigs in the future. I have been a faithful customer for over 15 years, so sorry, not anymore.Carol

A few months ago, I ordered the "Alex" wig. I love it! I ordered a second one so that I would always have it ready. While the first one was – and stil is – perfect, the second one is straggly and sloppy looking. When I first took it out of the box and followed directions (shaking, etc,) it looked ok. I put it aside til I could get a styrofoam head. Once I put it on that, it showed itself. I cannot wear it. I have not worn it. Unfortunately, I did take the tag off when I thought it was going to be ok. Please take it back and send me one that looks like the first one.Rosemary

I received the wig in a couple of weeks of ordering..I tried it on but it kept slipping off my head. The velcro tapes were set to the tightest setting. I took the wig to my hairdresser thinking it should be cut as the style was so weird.. She told me to wash it first in fairly hot water so some of the crushing from shipping would come out.. Seriously after wearing it for 30 seconds it looked like I was a cone head!! The inside just above the bangs there is a circle of heavy knit capping.. Not the stretch lace like the rest of the wig liner is made from…This is advertised as a whisper lite wig?…My head dripped with sweat in a few minutes as it just does not breathe the same as my other wigs? My hairdresser suggested it not be cut but to somehow get it made smaller. I have Alopecia so have bought and worn wigs for some years. I have always had wigs come with a stretchy lace type liner with metal adjustable clips on the elastic straps. I live in Canada so not an option to return the wig with the high postage, tax paid and the exchange rate…. So I bought some crazy glue to cinch up the elastic tapes making them shorter.. that was a total mess as the glue did not adhere the same as my other many wigs have done when the elastic stretched out.. I then pinched the material together to sew it on each side to tighten to fit my head.. I have always worn an average size wig… This one with that hard thick cone or dome inside was something else!!! Why did I take the added expense of a hairdresser as well as buying the glue?? The color of the wig and the style now that I have the cap fitting properly suits me to no end!! I look stunning in it and it looks like my own hair. My hairdresser says it does not look at all like a wig….So I made all of these compromises! I suggest that they make this Wig in all sizes so we don't have to glue or sew our fingers trying to make them smaller than Average. I suggest that the Deluxe Soft Touch Grip be sold in a smaller size as wellBrenda

I have 3 Geneva style wigs and love them. I ordered 2 more, it the new ones are much shorter in length than my 3 older ones. Very disappointing that they are not consistent in the styling & length. Geneva rooted is by far my favorite, but the ones I just received are very pixie ish. Even my husband commented on the shortness. I did send one back &kept the other. I don’t know if I will even wear this new one. Not good quality control. Too bad, I have praised their products to friends & family,but now w/a warning.Judy

For the fifth ( or sixth) time in the last 18 months, the wig has been of poor quality….thin, flat, choppy looking. Not like pictured, not like previous purchases. I’ve worn PY wigs for 10 years and have come to expect natural looking hair. I wear them out of necessity, so receiving these last ones has not only been disappointing, but necessitates buying new ones. I have donated several to the cancer center. They have hairdressers who can work with the wigs to make them useable for patients in need. Skills I don’t have. I can’t afford to keep donating and buying anew 😔Carolyn

The wig is lovely in the picture on the website, a little different than what came. I am sure it is the same wig, but the styling was somewhat different. I wasn't thrilled with how it looked on me. On someone else it will be pretty. The quality of the workmanship was good, and it fit really well. But no matter how you try to picture yourself with a certain hairstyle you just can't until you try it on and look in the mirror. I do wish that the website had software for virtual try on where you could upload your picture and try on the wigs before you order. I am sending this one back, just not for me.Cathy

I now own three Flirt Alert wigs, this is my absolute favorite for several reasons. I wear my wigs every day, all day. I need a wig that holds up well to daily use. I find the tangling and matting of the longer wigs to be unbearable! Well let me tell you…flirt alert holds up well!! She is soft and silky, bouncy and beautiful…the 4 inch nape keeps her from matting…I get so many compliments when I wear her. The other day, a woman got out of her car and was screaming across the parking lot wanting to know where I get my hair done because she wanted hers done like mine! LOL! I wish this wig came in a hand tied cap, but that’s my ONLY complaint, if you can call that a complaint.Kyra

I have been wearing wigs since breast cancer caused my already thinning hair to fall out. Due to POS and a hormone blocker I will take for a few more years, my hair had no chance at coming back to anything resembling a full head. I've played around with a few styles, staying mostly with bobs, which was close to my hairstyle before chemo and I was comfortable with. I decided to take the plunge and go for a shorter, easier style and came upon Advanced French. Ordered in a lighter color (RL 14/22, Pale Golden Wheat) as my own hair is mostly white and a golden blonde. The wig came and it immediately seemed to brighten my face and is a very youthful style, not that at 64 yrs. I want to look like a kid, but every little bit helps. I had it on when the husband came home from work and he didn't have to say anything for me to know he approved. Its fun, easy and for a short style, has some styling options. The lace front is not as itchy as some have been and I love getting hair off my neck and off the face. Great little style and ordered two more right away.Therese W.

Just received my Big Deal in Shaded Biscuit. She was out of stock for a while, so I jumped on this order when she became available again, and I'm so glad I did! The fibers are silky soft with los of swingy, natural movement. She's comfortable and can go from daytime to evening easily. Big Time and Upstage are about the longest lengths I'll wear; anything longer jus doesn't look like me. I'm petite, for reference. Also, I have only brushed this wig upside down before putting it on. Loved Dylan in shade 14/26A so much that I bought another one in shade 24/14. Dylan can be worn straight out of the box. The wavy curls look natural and feel so feminine. When they loosen, just spray with water and scrunch for beautiful wavy curls.Andrea

I've purchased several wigs from Paul Young and have been extremely satisfied with the fit, color and quality. They are comfortable, stylish, and sometimes I even forget I'm wearing a wig! I've had several complements on how nice my hair looks and little do most people know I'm wearing a wig! My latest purchase is the Dylan wig and I'm really happy with it. Arrived via USPS in very good condition, with normal time frame for USPS. The wig was easy to put on and take off. There were instructions for all of my purchase. I lost my hair within 6 days due to chemotherapy, so the helpful instructions were appreciated. The wig was similar to the online photo, but less curly, and that was a slight disappointment. Since it had just arrived at my time of need I am very thankful for the purchase. I have ordered 2 more different styles with some additional accessories. I have ordered several wigs from Paula Young & have been totally satisfied! The customer service is excellent. The prices are very reasonable! I have to admit, The Sheer Drama wig that I received a couple weeks ago or less, was my first disappointment. The cap is so sheer, that you can see dark hand tied knots a lot through the top. The wig color is Platinum 101. The dark knots actually made me squeamish! They looked like it had lice throughout it!! Being an RN, I had to really look closer & touch the lice-looking knots, & confirmed they were NOT Lice. It was advertised as whisper light- yep it’s so light you see through the cap!Bobbi

This would be a good wig for someone who is not new to wearing wigs. Straight out of the box the wig had a strong plastic like smell. After washing the smell was much less, but still there. Hoping this will fade with time. I have a large head but took a chance and ordered this anyway (average size). It fits very comfortably. The description says ""100% hand tied"". It is not. The top half is hand tied, the bottom half is sewn wefts. The hair is thick enough to be styled in a messy updo. The hand tied knots,on the top, are not bleached. If you order a medium to dark color it shouldn't be a big problem. If you are a light color you will need to camouflage them. This is not a lace front. There is a fabric band across the hairline that will make styling challenging. This would be a very comfortable wig if you had little to no hair. If you are willing to spend time working with your wig this could be a good choice for you.Raven

This is my first wig. I did my research, and chose Sheer Drama. I lov the waves and style My hair is long but falling out. I live in South Florida so my hair does not keep any curl in the humidity . Ok I thought perfect, I’ll have a full head of wavy hair and the color is a perfect match. Sadly I have a small head and cannot keep the wig on no matter what I do. I bought a grip but no help. So I am going to return my lovely today. I wish there were more choices in petite.Joanna

I previously purchased this item in a different color. I loved this wig and the fit. Unfortunately the new wig in different color will not fit. From front to back of crown is 1/2 inch bigger, ear tab across front to other ear tab is also 1/2 inch bigger, and crown to bottom is also 1/2 inch bigger. Wig can not be worn as it won't stay on my head. To return item costs me over $17.00, which I don't have extra funds for. It was marked as regular size, it's a jumbo!!! This is the beginning of my journey so my issues may be just that I am starting this journey kicking and screaming. I know all the YouTube reviewers say this is wonderful and fun but it isn't what I want to do – I wish my bio hair looked like this wig. It is lovely – soft and flattering for probably anyone. However, I may still return, I have tried in on for a bit several days in a row, still not sure. These may be things I just have to live with now that I have to do this to have normal 'hair'. 1.) Lace front – if I do keep this one, I will NEVER buy a lace front again. Unfortunately, it is very hard to find a nice, well made hairpiece without it because everyone else seems to love lace front – NOT ME. I don't like that you cannot pull your bio hair out from under (I know that it is great if you have no hair, but I have plenty around my face and would like to incorporate – Sincerely Yours by RW was perfect but too short). And though it DOES look very nice (I really didn't think it would look so realistic, it truly looks like a real hairline up close), it is HORRIBLY itchy. Like stiff, itchy netting and I can't wait to take it off. Maybe if I try gluing it won't itch so much? 2. I TOO much hair, as with most all of the hair pieces. While I can make this one work because it thankfully isn't LOADED up with that fake feeling/looking permatease (I know some people love it, I do NOT on me), it is still GOBS of hair. I push my hair behind my ears and I would have to have massive ears to fit the gobs falling in front of my face behind my ear; it is like trying to tuck a large rope behind my ear. Not sure why manufacturers think someone who has had hair loss or very thin hair all of the sudden will feel comfortable with a wooly mammoth strapped tightly to their raw noggin. Again, this one could be okay because I could take thinning shears to it and make it work if I keep this wig. 3. Speaking of the front bit… as other reviewers remarked, OMG does it want to go in your face. I don't want to use any product or heat on it yet because I am not sure I am keeping it so VERY difficult to tell if it will work because that is absolutely a problem. Would probably have to thin and cut that into layers – it is very pretty but no one goes around with a big chunk of hair hanging down like that all day. All of the hair on the cap is geared to go absolutely FORWARD, not sure why. It is something that would have to be worked out with heat, water and product. 4. Cap construction – Not super comfortable. Again, this is all new to me so maybe I am doing something wrong. I am using a wig grip so not sure if that adds to my discomfort. I will say that the seams around the mono part are thick and itchy. I would rather a whole mono top or a basic cap, rather than that seamed bit. Too much going on in the cap. So – if you are a regular wig wearer, this style will probably work for you; I am just not use to all these itches and things going on my head. Sort of like a pretty but uncomfortable underwire bra – you can deal but can't wait to get it off at the end of the day – that is how it feels for me. If this had the cap of the Sincerely Yours, I would have found my piece. Again, not sure if I am returning or not, but it is so expensive for me, for them not to be spot on. I need something that looks like ME and I can wear every day and it looks like normal, non-poufy, non-shiny hair and isn't going to rub my ear or itch my head, etc. I am probably hoping for too much. 🙁LJT

Cap is so comfortable. I had to cut on the bangs a little because they went directly into my eyes. However! The color more than made up for it. The eggplant shade is absolutely beautiful and perfect for the fall season! If your bio hair is or was brown and you are looking for brown yet with a twist of pow…. Choose this color! I have yet to be disappointed with the Raquel Welch brand wigs. Thank you Wigstudio1 for always getting my orders to me in such a timely manner. Makes me so happy to know an order is heading my way. I just wish I had discovered wigs many years ago when I started losing my bio hair would have saved me many tears when I was buying every product out there to get my hair back. I‘m a huge Raquel Welch wigs fan, it’s my favorite brand. And I had my eyes on this style for a while and think the stock photo looks fabulous. But it’s my first and last style in regular synthetic. I love the True2Life HD fibers by Raquel Welch, they look and feel like human hair. But these are just extremely shiny and it has a lot of hair! The color Glazed Sand is really nice and the lace front on this style is impeccable, and as this was my first unrooted color, it’s even better and more undetectable than the rooted colors. But everyone tells me that this style looks like an old woman and I‘m just too young to look that old… 😅 Of course Wigstudio1 is not to blame, their service was first class, as always!Sarah C.

My mother, 85, jokingly said one day how she needed a wig because her hair was thinning and she was have trouble fixing it herself. She goes to the hairdresser once a week, but that doesn't guarantee a week of good looking hair. I decided to check out wigs. I looked for the style most like hers, Winner, by Raquel Welch, and after a second attempt of matching color, found perfect, light brown with grey. It looks just like her hair after she leaves her hairdresser. She wore it all day the first day and didn't even remember she had it on until my dad remarked that her hair looked good that day. Delivery was fabulous, 7 days to Indonesia and I love the way customs is included. This is my third Winner wig, I find the style comfortable and versatile. My other two wigs are brown but I wanted to try some highlights as I had them when I was younger. I think the routed wigs look more natural so I chose Shaded Cappuccino SS12/22. I hunted all over the web for a review or You Tube video for Winner in that colour but could only find longer styles. In the end I ordered it anyway. When it arrived I hated it, I thought the roots made me look like a skunk, and if I lived in the US I would have sent it back. Anyway I kept digging it out of my wardrobe and eventually began to like it. I think I have had brown hair for so many years I wasn't used to the tones. So it's all good now.Maxine S.

I recently received my Becky, and was so disappointed. The color was beautiful, but the hair was wild and straight. It looked like it had been harshly brushed out, and was very dry. I shook it , sprayed it with PY conditioner, but had to cut some bangs and wear it anyway, as I needed to return the beautiful, long Gayle, as it was too long and young looking for me at 74. I have worn PY wigs for many years due to thinning hair, and have only had a few disappointments, but lately have had with problems. I tried washing the Becky in PY shampoo, and conditioner , but the hair remained the same.Judy

I was so excited for the curls. I was sad to see her a little fuzzy around the top. The light blonde colors are a bit shiny. I tried to fix her with dry shampoo but that didn’t work. Decided to just bite the bullet and wear her pulled back. Kinda defeats having curls but once I used dry shampoo, she was mine.Carla

If you love curls, then Becky's the girl for you! She's surprisingly lightweight and cool. She has a beautiful lace front that is not itchy at all and a mono part. I got Becky in the Swedish blonde which is a rooted color. It's beautiful and what you see in the picture is what you get. I've been a wig wearer everyday and all day for the past four years and can tell you that this is a great wig and the price is fantastic! I have a 21" circumference head so am a petite average and the fit and coverage is perfect for my smaller head!!! This makes me so happy as so many wigs are just too large for me. I would tell you to NOT comb through this wig but simply finger comb through and loosen up the curls when you first get her out of the box, otherwise you will definitely look like a "doll head." I wear claw clips to pull hair back, or headbands to change up the look and it all looks great! I've already ordered a second Becky and I'm sure it won't be my last!Cynthia

The wig came to me with some of the hair falling out by the strands without me touching it. Plus top was mashed down to where there was a crease all along the part line. The cut didn’t seem to look exactly like the picture showed. I say the least I was not happy at all about the purchase and would like a full refund.Katie

This has very plastic looking hair and the curls are very disheveled and unruly, and all different patterned throughout. Very unfortunate design. It just wants to fall in your face. I put this in Halloween costume quality.Cambray

Tessa wig is blond with sharp contrast difference between roots and wig. The color alone was different from what your Color Chart shows. Your chart shows some color of golden or strawberry. You chart calls it Swedish blond. This wrong! SO DISAPPOINTED!PATRICIA

I don’t know if I will even wear this new one. Not good quality control. Too bad, I have praised their products to friends & family,but now w/a warning.Judy

For the fifth ( or sixth) time in the last 18 months, the wig has been of poor quality….thin, flat, choppy looking. Not like pictured, not like previous purchases. I’ve worn PY wigs for 10 years and have come to expect natural looking hair. I wear them out of necessity, so receiving these last ones has not only been disappointing, but necessitates buying new ones. I have donated several to the cancer center. They have hairdressers who can work with the wigs to make them useable for patients in need. Skills I don’t have. I can’t afford to keep donating and buying anew 😔Carolyn

The wig is lovely in the picture on the website, a little different than what came. I am sure it is the same wig, but the styling was somewhat different. I wasn't thrilled with how it looked on me. On someone else it will be pretty. The quality of the workmanship was good, and it fit really well. But no matter how you try to picture yourself with a certain hairstyle you just can't until you try it on and look in the mirror. I do wish that the website had software for virtual try on where you could upload your picture and try on the wigs before you order. I am sending this one back, just not for me.Cathy

Nora is a delightful fluff and go style with waves and almost curls. I got it in color 38, which is light ash brown with grey. It is supposed to be light ash brown with 25 percent grey (it seems a bit more than that;) It would be nice if Paula Young had at least one style featured in this color. The ash brown is very close to my natural color (a bit lighter) but Nora has more grey than I do personally. Nora arrived smelling absolutely wretched; I almost gagged when I opened the box. I had to wash the wig immediately. I used Paula Young shampoo. I thought I detected the (fumigant?) odor even after the wash, but when Nora dried, she no longer smelled. When I first put her on after she'd dried she was not pretty and the curls were mashed against the cap. I shook her vigorously and then took a wide tooth comb and really brought the fibers up off the cap. I wasn't rough, but I was deliberate in going over the entire wig to revive the fibers. I was able to achieve a style very similar to the catalog photo. In my photos, Nora has a more shag-like appearance, but once on she can be fluffed to the rounded silhouette of the catalog photo. Nora fits my 22.25 inch head comfortably and could be adjusted to go even a bit larger, or smaller. I find the fibers dry to the touch and just a bit coarser than my own very fine hair (although Nora's fiber does not look coarse.) Nora is comfortable to wear and an adorable style that goes with dressy as well as casual outfits. If you are prepared to spend a few moments waking Nora up after you first get her home, I think you will be pleasantly surprised at her fluff and go versatility. Coverage around the ears and nape is great.Lisa

When this DANCE wig and COLOR ME EXQUISITE wigs arrived, upon removing them from the box they were cute, and the colors were pretty and the best thing they had going for them, However, they didn't look much like the ones the models in the pictures wore. And there is too much perma tease or "fluff" to them. They had really no style to them at all. Especially in the front, just couldn't do much with them. And didn't want to try since being careful with them is a must when trying them on. Very disappointed with these wigs. In my humble opinion they were not great and not keepers. So I am returning them and probably won't buy anymore wigs again. Sorry PY but your wigs need to be lighter weight, lay nicer, (some of us like a bit flatter style) far less perma tease or fluff, easier to wear right out of the box…Thanks anyway…Juanita

I am completely disappointed with my purchase. I ordered two of this wig because I really like the look of the style in the picture. The wigs I received will not comb into the style shown. The top is spiked and will only stand straight up and the bangs stick straight out and will not lay nicely against the forehead. I tried to tame it down with wig spray and hair gel but it won't lay down. The top hair stands straight up and the bangs stick straight out. The wig will not comb into a nice smooth pixie like the picture shows. I would not recommend a person buy this wig unless you want spiked hair that stands straight up at the top of your head and bangs that stick straight out at your forehead. The style does not resemble the picture at all !Eve
