The hold is not there and my hair is low porosity type 2b hair and i did not find it reducing frizz either. I pair this mousse with the Curl Enhancing Smoothie from the same product line and they work really well together! I section my hair and evenly distribute the Smoothie, then I use this Mousse to focus on my ends. Finally blowdry with a diffuser attachment. I heard other reviews and videos rave about this mousse and had to try it. I have to say, they are right. I have fine texture, low porosity natural hair. My hair is short, but when stretched the back comes to my collar bone and the front comes to the end of my nose (to give you a reference). I get good definition using a gel, but this product really defined my hair, and I had more body. Body is a problem for those of us with fine hair. My curls lasted 4 days, especially in the top which is longer. My hair is shorter on the sides and since I sleep on my side the definition fades sooner. I still had a little definition on my sides day 4, but the top still had curls. The first time I used it I only used a moisturizing deep conditioner and the mousse. It did great defining my curls, but left my hair very dry. The next time I used a moisturizing deep conditioner, leave-in conditioner, a moisturizing gel, and a sealing oil with the mousse. Sounds like a lot, but this is the process I have to use every wash day to keep my hair moisturized for 3 days. I did not have any problems with dry hair at all this time. I have thick heavy waves/curls. The product worked well when I used it with a leave in conditioner. The day I was in a rush and didn't put a leave in my hair was course and felt dehydrated. It doesn't help to clump your curls on it's own, but was easy to style and mold my curls with my brush. Dried quickly and smelled good. I didn't get a chance to use it for a long period of time to see the overall quality. The bottle untwisted just enough while under my sink and spilled. Luckily I had it in a container. The bottle easily untwist. You should keep the product right side up and make sure it doesn't knock over. Unfortunately it's the bottle quality that keeps me from buying this again. I would suggest checking The Doux’s channel on YouTube to see how she uses the styler depending on the length of the hair. I have a short natural tapered cut and the mousse works best went I finger twirl the top and front. I love the slip and the shine. Even though the hold is soft – it survives my sweaty workouts. Love this product. I have wave/curls, and this makes my waves hold, prevents them from falling flat and frizzy, and allows my curls to actually form. I typically have to wash my hair every 3 days, and most products I’ve tried tend to build up and make my hair greasy before day 3. This one doesn’t. I’ve tried so many different gels, mousses, creams, oils, to enhance my poor little damaged waves and I always come back to this. My hair started getting wavier in my teens but I just didn’t take care of my hair very much so my little waves were not flourishing as they could’ve. This product definitely helped enhance them while nourishing them to lock in my conditioner. My hair is slowly graduating from very damaged 2a to relatively damaged 2b hair! I love this product. It locks in your conditioner and adds that moisture you need while sealing up your waves. I like to put a little conditioner on my hair while it’s still really wet from the shower, then comb through my hair with a brush (if I use my fingers like I’m supposed to then the top of my hair at the roots gets really wonky so I have to use a wider wet brush to get some of it normal) then I put this stuff in and I scrunch it up and put it in my little hair towel and I’m done! I have fine, low-density 2C-3A curls and generally follow CGM, but I wanted to try a new mousse because it's still not spring and I'm super bored! I wish I'd looked at the ingredients more closely before buying this mousse, though, because it contains propane, which honestly just freaks me out. I still tried it because I spent money on it, but I wasn't super impressed. The mousse is ***VERY*** thick, so I mixed very small amounts with water before scrunching it into my hair. After diffusing and scrunching out the crunch, my curls were actually very well-defined and had good volume, but even though I used VERY little – an amount that was maybe the size of a plum for my entire head of hair (falls between jawline and shoulder) – my roots felt extremely gummy and gross. I know it's the mousse because the only other product I used was the ultra-light leave-in I've been using for years. I can't imagine being able to use much less product, though, just because of how the mousse comes out of the can. So overall, it does define curls, it may leave a gummy residue (my hair may really be just too fine), and it contains scary ingredients. The scent is also pleasant, but very strong and appears to last (I did my hair hours ago and I still smell like coconut). I wouldn't buy this again, but I'll probably save this as a back-up product in case I run out of my holy grails – and stay far away from open flames, yikes.CB

I have very porous damaged overprocessed hair, fine with medium density, and a wavy curly 2c/3a pattern. This mousse/cream is absolutely amazing and does exactly what it says it does. I use it a few different ways, I can go for very defined curls and add this to my entire head, and brush the foam in, with either a Tangle teezer or denman brush, then scrunch, and I get flawless moisturized defined curls, or I just scrunch it in on its own, and get extra movement and body, or pair it with a harder hold gel and use it before the gel, and with a softer hold gel, I use it afterwards, to give me yhe best of both worlds, body and definition. I wanted to like this, but I just don’t. It leaves your hair feeling dirty and crusty the same way a sea salt mousse would. I use mouse in my hair quite often. I like the way gives my hair and curls bounce without stiffness. This one though whether your hair is clean or not, leaves your hair feeling dry, dirty and crusty. My first impression is I love the packaging the blue and gold is very pretty. I also like the smell. It’s a really strong coconut scent. So if your not into strong or coconut fragrances I wouldn’t recommend this line of products from Maui Moisture. First I used this mousse first on my daughters tightly coiled hair along with the gel and it worked okay but nothing to rave about it defined the coils and gave a nice shine. The second day however I noticed her hair had so many flakes I had to wash it out. I would say that I will not use this again for her because it has somewhat of a drying effect on naturally coiled hair. When I used it on my hair I didn’t like the way it felt going on. It felt kinda stiff and drying so I didn’t use on my full head. I would not recommend to for thick coiled or tightly curled natural hair.kristina.b

This works as well as any, and better than most. I definitely get volume from it, though I'm always looking for more, and it doesn't leave my hair full of static as many mousses do. My hair is very thick and very straight, so it has to work pretty hard to provide some lif, but does so without being stiff or stickyt. It also lasts a long time in the can, which I think is a big plus, as other pretty good mousses often turn to useless liquid, no longer foam, before the can is empty. I hate that. I use this mousse to give my limp hair fine hair some thickness and volume. It definitely makes a positive difference. I use about an egg size dollop for my shoulder length hair and it also gives me a nice amount of hold that stands up to the Florida humidity. I then let my hair air dry overnight and then in the morning I use a curling iron to create loose waves. My waves are defined and I also get plenty of nice volume and bounce. I don't even need hairspray. My waves stay in place for several days and the volume is still there even after sleeping. This mousse has a very light pleasant scent that dissipates quickly. It isn't stiff or crunchy at all. It's nothing like the mousse of the 80s and my hair is very pliant and has tons of body. The hold is great and my hair stays in place no matter what the weather dishes out. I'm very satisfied with this mousse and it's become one of my all time favorite styling products. Who knew? When you first apply it can feel drying and a bit sticky, but once it dries you can scrunch out the crunch and it leaves you with soft, defined, and decently held waves/curls. I found that this is THE BEST product I have ever used for air drying my hair. It comes out soft, not stringy or crunchy like other mousses. It also hold my curl all day. The next day I just use a spray water bottle, wet my hair, and scrunch in a little more mousse, let it air dry, and my results are just as good as day one. Best second day results I have ever had. My mother got this mousse for herself and gave it to me because her hair is more on the wavy side and didn’t really work for her hair so she thought I should give it a try. I was super excited- it smells great, it has cute packaging. However, once I started applying it to my hair I realized it wasn’t going to work for me either. It made my hair feel instantly dry, it matted up my curls and did not define them and made my skin itch. I decided to give it a couple more tries, putting in different amounts of it and more moisturizing products and still, my hair felt dry and clumpy using this product. I'm a fan of the Bumble and Bumble mouse but it is pretty pricy. I have been giving more low-cost options a try lately and decided to buy this on a whim. It 100% smells like lemon cake. I don't mind that, but I was curious what the whole scent debate was about. When you do start to dispense the product, a lot comes out at once. It is a really light mouse, but it is also kind of thick. For having fine, 3B hair, I was worried. I worked it into my hair and combed it through. My hair was really wet as a note. Then I scrunched it with a microfiber towel and let my hair do its thing. It is really soft and bouncy and is holding its shape without being crunchy. So far so good. I was able to try this product after i found it at the dollar store. I don't particularly use mousse very much anymore but I will use it from time to time. I really like got2b products and have had good experiences with them in the past so I ended up using this product daily. The product is supposed to give you extra volume which is something I really want in my style. It also has an average price of 6.99 which is an ok price for a drugstore mousse…. I was able to get it cheaper since i found it at the dollar store. After washing and towel dying my hair i put a handful of the product into my hair and style as desired. I found it didn't give a sticky or filmy feel to my hair and that my style held really well. I also had a pretty decent amount of hold and volume throughout the day. I'm not sure if i would purchase the product as I do not really use mousse, however it might be a good alternative to hairspray.ina.m

Does exactly what I want my mousee to do! Okay, just like the hairspray, the first thing I noticed was the heavenly scent. It really does smell great! To me, the scent was so nice that it almost smelled more like a perfume than a hair product. That matters to me, because, well, lets face it, our hair is right by our nose, and who wants a not-nice scent right there all day? So, before I even tried it, I liked the scent. I used it a few times, and was very happy with it. My hair is fairly long, and naturally wavy, but it's also really, really fine. So that means that it often can feel flat. And the roots especially can feel awful to me, just really super-flat and unattractive. So I really liked this mousse because it helped keep my waves in, and my hair where I wanted it to be, and, on top of all that, it gave it volume (especially at the roots! Yesssss!). The other thing I really liked was that it did all this without making my hair feel sticky, or gunky or anything, or too stiff. My hair still felt nice and soft. Oh, and, also, I really love the colours of the can of mousse….it's a pretty, vibrant, cheer-you-up combination of colours – a nice bright yellow, and a lovely bright magenta. Maybe that sounds like a strange thing to mention, but I am the kind of person who always notices all the details, and I'm also the type of person who likes things to look nice; if I'm going to have a can of mousse out on my bathroom counter, why not have it be something that looks nice, right?

I like this mousse. It is the best I have used, and the only that I use, but I agree, what a pain it is to dispense!! I agree that ION needs to find a better way for this, or they will lose customers. I found the only way to keep it dispensing is to do these things. When you first use it, you will find that it may not dispense. Shake it well. Then run very warm to hot water over the entire nozzle while holding the bottle in a downward position. Now shake it again and try it again. If it does not work, repeat running the water, this time make it hotter or hot. Shake and it should work. Now, the tricky thing is if you set the bottle upright you will go through this repeatedly and who knows if it will work most of the time. This is what I do and so far, I have had no problems. I keep the cap on, and I store it upside down. I wedge it between other things, so it does not fall. When I am ready to use it, I shake. and then remove the cap and it always seems to dispense, as long as I store it upside down. Always shake it upside down before use. Always shake it anyway so it does not come out watery. There is something wrong with the pressure or the nozzle and keeping it upside down is the only way that I have found works. I hope ION does something to fix this. Who really wants to store their mousse upside down? If you travel with it, I advise doing the same, but tape on the cap, just in case. pr follow the process running the hot water over the nozzle, etc. I would be interested in new reviews if this has helped. This mousse really does make my hair look thicker. It also adds some volume. However, use it sparingly because too much can weigh hair down somewhat. I apply a very small puff to my shoulder length hair and then let my hair air dry overnight. In the morning, my hair is rather stiff but once I run a brush through it, it's fine. I use a curling iron to create loose waves that I then run my fingers through. This mousse not only makes my hair look thicker, it also has great hold that stands up to the Florida humidity. My waves last all day and into the next without stickiness or crunchiness. But like I said, don't use too much. This can will last a long time because I only use a small amount. It has a very light scent that dissipates quickly so it's suitable for those who are sensitive to fragrances. It's by far the best thickening product I've tried thus far. I get great hold and tons of bouncy body. Although my hair is medium textured, I think this would be a great choice for fine hair too. But it's very concentrated so it doesn't take much to do the job. I definitely recommend it for fine or medium hair.

I have type 3a hair and this is one of the few hair products I've repurchased repeatedly. I transitioned to my naturally curly hair over a year ago, and after trying lots of gels and heavier hair products, I decided to switch to a mousse. How I use it: After washing and conditioning my hair, and applying a lightweight leave-in conditioner or cream, I use this mousse. It gives great definition and is lightweight enough so my hair doesn't look like a puffy blob! I refresh by spraying my hair with water and scrunching in the mousse where needed.
