After a hysterectomy & menopause that followed resulting in 1/4 of my hair gradually thinning and trying every supplement including PRP treatments I realized preserving the hair I had was the focus, since after 5yrs and thousands of dollars later, the hair that had thinned was not going to grow back. I work in the medical field, at an Oncology / Bone Marrow Transplant Center so the topic of wigs is something I'm very familiar with. Many of the patients I work with rave about Jon Ranau wigs so I figured I'd give that brand a try. I've purchased a couple so far to ensure I have a new backup always on hand and plan to venture into other styles & colors but so far I'm extremely pleased with the quality of the cap/top & synthetic hair, style & color and it's so easy to maintain!
The wig was already thinning in the front when I got it and I can't hide this with bio hair because the lace is too long (can't cut the lace because it is the only thing gripping the front, there are no clips). I don't recommend this piece for people with small/low foreheads, maybe if you are completely bald with no bio hair it might work for you but not if you have pale skin because the knots are very dark and the lace is tan. I tried to straighten the hair on low heat and it made a melting smell, I question if all the hair is real. The cap is also extremely itchy and the lace is not soft (because the lace grips) so it is uncomfortable when it sits on my forehead. I would need to sew in clips and then seal off the lace so it doesn't unravel when trimmed, but for $2000 I would expect this to be of better quality. I own many wigs and hair toppers, I am always disappointed in Jon Renau but I took a risk because I liked the color. The Jon Renau brand is not carried much anymore because their pieces are just not worth the price. I am just going to have to stick with Uniwigs because at least I know what to expect and they are keeping up with the trends for comfort and affordability.LS
The hair piece is nicely made and the color was spot-on. I really, really wanted to like this wig. My overall problem was the style… and was in a few of the reviews I had read prior. The front part was over bearing and so much so that it wouldn't stay out of my face…. almost like there was too much hair. While I didn't try to style the piece or trim to see if that would make a difference (didn't want to do anything in case I returned, which I did), so it's possible I could have made it work. But I just couldn't get past the front portion of the wig and all the volume; I couldn't figure out what to do with it! I am not new to hair pieces, wigs and extension pony-tails so I am aware that some effort is-or-might be necessary, etc., but it simply just looked fake on me. I only deducted 1 Star because it might have been fixable but $300.++ I didn't want to take that chance so I returned. But overall, the wig is pretty and the cap is comfy. Good luck!Susie

When I first received the wig I was worried that it would be too thin. But, when I am wearing it, I find that the lower density looks extremely natural and more realistic than the overly thick human hair wigs I have had in the past. The hair is very smooth and you can run your fingers right through it. I had the Kim by Jon Reneau which has extremely sick denier. I have this bravo wig in the color R 11 S. It looks extremely realistic as though my hair had been professionally highlighted. I also find the lace front to be the best I have ever worn. The netting is so fine that I truly can barely see it. This is the first wig I have on where I do not feel the need to cut the lace. Although some may not like the thin density for the shorter length, I find it perfect for every day wear. I was looking for a wig that was short enough to be comfortably worn every day easy to tuck behind the ears, yet long enough to be pulled back out of my face. Also I would like to add that this week does not shed at all so I am expecting it to last quite a while.I gave this four stars only because I do wish there was slightly more hair in the lower back region of the cap.Patricia D.
I‘m a huge Raquel Welch wigs fan, it’s my favorite brand. And I had my eyes on this style for a while and think the stock photo looks fabulous. But it’s my first and last style in regular synthetic. I love the True2Life HD fibers by Raquel Welch, they look and feel like human hair. But these are just extremely shiny and it has a lot of hair! The color Glazed Sand is really nice and the lace front on this style is impeccable, and as this was my first unrooted color, it’s even better and more undetectable than the rooted colors. The most natural looking wig I have ever purchased. A friend who knows I wear wigs, asked if she was seeing my bio hair. I had never seen this style or color in person before and when I took her out of the box she took my breath away, I thought she was SO beautiful! Easily the lightest blonde in my collection now. I had been on a hunt for reds and decided on Harper in 130H. I have NO regrets! She is GORGEOUS! This is my 3rd Harper, as an indication of my satisfaction with this brand and style! I have one in 7H that I purchased and a 614GR that was gifted to me as well. HM fibers always feel dreamy. Harper is a long voluptuous beauty in any color with loose flowing curls/waves and beautiful movement. HM as a brand is very comfortable for me to wear, I would say they are true average (my circumference is 21.25). I have had to cinch in the adjusters on all my HM styles and the caps have wonderful stretch. I still have bio hair to cover and the caps easily cover my hair and a wig grip if I choose to wear one. I have ordered this wig before from another company and it was much thicker and the curls were more defined. This one though very soft is thin and the waves are only on bottom 1/3 of the wig almost as if someone brushed them out. Also the box came destroyed. Someone had taped over the box because original wasn't holding. Inside wig box was all smashed. But wig was intact with tags. I even wrote Henry Margu company to see if they have different qualities of the same wig and maybe sell seconds cheaper or that is even a thing. Waiting to hear backtobagojoe

This is a lovely wig. I love that it's thinner and hand tied. I'm not a fan of the ear to ear lace. It tends to stick up around the ear tabs and you can see it. I've tried glue but it just cakes up on the lace and doesn't work anyway. I wish I had gotten the regular julianne with velvet ear tabs. I am so glad I tried the light version in the julianne before paying a ridiculous amount of money for the carrie light and realizing the lace ear tabs are terrible. If you have hair thinning or loss anywhere in the front, this will not work for you as you'll be pulling on those vulnerable hairs if you have any, yet it won't be enough to hold the piece in place safely, nor can you use adhesive on thinning hairs. Obviously the 3 front clips won't be of use if you have no hair in front; aybe you could remove all the clips and use adhesive instead if you have no hair. For me, with thinning hair, this was unworkable. I was excited about this item, but was left disappointed. Trying to be fair to the store, I kept the items (I bought two) rather than ask for another return. I shouldn't have kept them.Gerri
I have bought several regular January's in the past, and have always thought they had too much permatease, but would repurchase it because it is closest to the style and color I am looking for. This was my first January Hand Tied. I am pleased to say that it is exactly what I was hoping for. The best part is that there is NO permatease, which had always made it too hot to wear in the summer, and now I don't have to worry about wefts showing since there are none. The lace front on mine is fantastic in the color 14/25 – the highlighting and knotting is the best it's ever been. It is much less tiger-striped looking than it had been about 5 years ago. The hand tied January also has less density than regular January, so I only thinned it slightly in spots compared to my major thinning of regular January. Both versions of January tend to be less shiny than the straight versions of synthetics, which is a plus for me. The Jon Renau regular synthetic fibers last longer than the other brands I have tried as well.Brahm

I'm on about my 5th wig since I lost my hair last year to alopecia. I used to have really long blonde, curly hair that I got compliments on daily. This made it hard to deal with going totally bald. I was using a $400 synthetic wig recently and it was okay, but didn't look like me and got yucky from the heat on my neck. I finally splurged on this one when I realized it would be at least another year before I'd have enough hair to do something different. I seriously can't say enough good things about this wig; it makes me look 10 years younger than the other one I had. I didn't like it at first though, it was all thin and straight. I sprayed it down with water and let it dry naturally to get some volume. Then I curled it just a little to ad more volume. Now I LOVE it. Looks so natural and pretty. I'm going to try to attach a photo. This is it combed out after I did a little with a big curling iron. Color is perfect on me (was the lightest color it came in). I feel like I could curl it all to look like the model in the photo with the curls. I may order a 2nd one to keep already curled if I can afford it. I washed it for the 1st time using your line of hair care and it was so frizzy after I was done blow drying it. I did a zoom consultation with Kerry Smith ( who is amazing) and she explained what to do to fix the problem. I will be following her directions step by step and she really put my mind at ease that this will fix the problem. I’ve worn this Sienna wig every day for over months now. I shampoo and deep condition 2-3 times a month and the hair still feels very soft and smooth (not matting). After wearing synthetic wigs for 40 yrs, I will only wear HH from now on. I personally do not find this particular wig time consuming to style or care for. While I did so for the photo, I rarely use a curling iron or blow dryer on it (just air dry and gently comb) and have never trimmed this wig or taken it to a salon. The color is holding up well and not fading. About twice a week I pour a very small amt of Argan oil into my palms and smooth it into the hair to keep it from drying out. With spring/summer approaching, I just purchased a new Sienna and will wear my current one for outdoor activities (more heat/sweat = add’l stress on fibers). If I enjoy 9-12 months of continual wear from a wig and it still looks this great, I’m very happy with the purchase and believe I got my money’s worth!Courtney

When the wigs arrived it was a thrill to take them out and try them on. I love Flirting With Fashion. She was perfect out of the box. I ordered her in Biscuit. She did not let me down. When I saw a picture of this wig, I thought to myself "finally!" This is the style I have been looking for for a while, short, straight, not too much hair, an Ignite but with a longer back. Unfortunately, this wig has a very small cap. It cannot possibly be average size. Average size fits usually lose on my head and this wig I could barely squeeze on. Secondly, it has no lace front. I am too used by now to wearing a lace front monofilament to feel comfortable wearing a wig without. I guess this is what you get for the price. The color and the fibers were great, but I had to return mainly because the cap was far too small.Mimi
The biggest problem I found with this wig was the fit. Average was too big, but petite felt too small. I have a Goldilocks size head and I found the ear tabs on the petite were way too high on my temples, but the front and back fit ok. I bought it on sale and thought I would take a risk even if it wasn’t perfect (and it’s not). The hair itself is good quality and appears to be well made and the style is very cute. I only wish there was a better way to buy wigs other than to pay upfront for an online item, only to find out it’s not quite right. It seems if you can try on hairstyles virtually, there should be a way to try on wigs virtually. If you could upload a photo or enter the dimensions of your head and then try on virtually, you can get an idea of where the ear tabs will fall, for example or how long the bangs will be. It would save a lot of time and money on returns. Eventually, someone will invent it, but until then, buying wigs online is a crapshoot. I prefer to buy locally, however most wig shops don’t carry a very large variety and if you buy the same wig through a wig shop, it will cost double.Vee B.
-1 star for how easily it tangles and sheds; I recommend wearing the hair down over updos because of it -1 star for how chunky highlights are at the part which are unconcealable +1 star for cap and hairline In my pics, I have not plucked the hairline, but I have straightened the wig and rearranged the part. The cap on this wig is definitely better quality than my cheaper amazon wigs (I like that it has velcro straps), but the hair itself both tangles and comes out more easily than my cheapy $30-50 wigs, which is unfortunate. I'd recommend not even bothering to try to do a half updo with this wig, which I'm personally disappointed by but that's okay, it looks good down. The lace came pre-cut, not sure if it was supposed to, but it fits perfectly and blends right into my pale skin, which is great. Hairline is great, pretty natural looking. I ordered the color FS4/33/30A Midnight Cocoa – the highlights are so chunky right up into the part (see pics). Doesn't matter which way you part it, you have giant stripes in your hair with this color (not too noticeable from straight on or from the side but I disapprove still haha). So I would NOT recommend the colors with highlights like this one, just get a solid color. So overall, I wish I got a different color, but that's on me. It's otherwise a pretty good wig and I would recommend it.Aubrey H.

This one did catch me by surprise. I always had the question: what if my Voltage was wavy or curly. This just hits that spot I crave of curls and wave all in a cute pixie style. If I don't feel like that, I simply smooth them down. It's easy to finger style, it's a shake and go, my favorite kind of hair. I am not as fond of the feel of the fibers as some of the other manufactures, but I don't feel that is worth taking a point off for. She is really cute, I never fail to get complements about my 'hair'.Taz's video describes it perfectly, plus the color is just as the video shows. Please be aware that the picture of the color 18/22 does not really accurately portray it.
I am pleased with my purchase of the Angelina synthetic wig. The color is vanilla cream. The wig fits good and has good coverage on the top, sides and back. I would recommend this wig for purchase. Not my favorite. In all due fairness, the color Pine Cone was too dark for my skin tone, and the wig is shorter then I prefer. So, basically I should have returned Kylie since I bought a wig that isn’t particularly flattering for me. However, even my husband (who rarely comments on my wigs), commented he felt the wig looked “wiggy”. I’ll be wearing this wig with a baseball cap when I go on my daily walks.

This wig is beautiful. Well constructed. I trimmed/shortened the bang and widened the part line and find it to be very realistic. I get compliments on it. I bought it in Champagne Rooted. It's close fitting so it doesn't feel like some of those wigs where they are all poofed up, big hair. The only thing that I don't like about it, is the top shape does not fit my head shape so there is a little empty space in the top of it. I guess they shaped it on a rounder type head than I have. It's still one of my favorites.
I ordered this wig in carmel mix (same color as my FIRST wig). The color is nothing like my FIRST wig. The style is very cute; however, this wig is approximately two shades darker than my carmel mix FIRST wig. Additionally, from half way down the back, the color completely changes to a medium brown with no hi-lites. I love the fit of the cap and construction of the wigs, but Ellen's wigs are not consist with the colors on models and what you are sent. Customer service is great.abbie
I purchased this a few months ago and returned it for the same reason I've seen from a couple of other women. What's with the little bubble of space between the wig and my head? Does that mean it's too big? Too small? For the money, I felt that it had better fit well so I sadly sent it back. I loved the quality of the hair, very natural looking and soft.Robin
