I found this product yearssss ago when I first started the Curly Girl Method. It was very runny, white and much lighter. I ended up repurchasing it and when I opened it, it is incredibly yellow and thick and the ingredient list is completely different. This used to be really good. My hairdresser used it on my hair once and it was so good I went out and bought my own. Loved it. Left my hair soft and completely frizz and flyaway free. I was so happy to find something weightless to achieve that and that felt like water on my hair instead of a heavy cream or serum. Then all of a sudden they decided to change the formula. Why did they have to do that?! The new formula had a strong smell and it actually created frizz in my hair, so bad that it lost all shape. Day 2 and 3 it started feeling stringy at the ends. I have dirty blonde, thick, wavy, slightly frizzy hair, and I have never found a hair product that gave me soft, defined, frizz-free curls. This product gives me just that! I cannot believe that I finally found a product that leaves my hair soft and my curls defined. I was mesmerized by the results! Directions for use: After taking a shower, either towel dry, wring out, or air dry your hair until it is still wet, but not damp and full of water. Next, with a wide-tooth comb, brush hair so that there are no knots. Then, layer by layer, pick up pieces of your hair and spray thoroughly, making sure that you are spraying the sections where you want your curls/waves defined. I go ahead and spray my entire head of hair – BC IT'S JUST THAT GOOD! Comb through after spraying. After about 30 minutes to an hour, I go back and brush out my hair with the wide-tooth comb again, just to make sure my hair doesn't get crunchy. If you don't comb your hair again after spraying, your hair may end up more crunchy than you'd want; if you do comb it again, your hair will have no crisp, and it will be as soft as can be. I was very skeptical with this one claiming to be all products in one, but it truly is. I couldn’t believe what my hair looked like when all I did was spray it in, comb it through, and let air dry. Because it is light it does not weigh my curls down and my hair dries quicker as well because I’m not using heavier styling creams or gels. I’m really pleased with this product. I even love the removable lock on the sprayer so you can take it with you without any mess. Where they could improve is the shape of the bottle. The rectangle is not the easiest to handle. It's super easy to apply and I was looking for something that not only added moisture to my hair but would help bring my dry damaged curls back to life and this product has been very good so far! It's soften my hair and I can see the hydration by how well my hair stayed together it didn't feel coarse, and controlled my frizz. My wavy curls have definitely improved in bounce. I will start off saying it is VERY moisturizing. My hair texture has changed as I got older. was my go to hair product until I was at least 20. It was the product for mixed girl hair. My hair isn't as thick anymore so I need something thinner? This isn't it unfortunately. I got no curl definition from this. I managed a tighter wave. This would be a good product for thicker hair but it also left my hair with an oily crunch if that makes sense. It does have a nice light clean scent. I'm surprised by a lot of the negative reviews. I was in the drugstore one day and I was looking for something that would give my extremely dry hair more moisture. Regular conditioner and hair oils weren't enough. I also have wavy hair, and I wash it every 4-ish days. I use this after every time I wash my hair along with hair oil. I love several Shea Moisture products and this one smells delicious, so I'm pretty bummed this product didn't work out for me. I figured if it didn't enhance my waves, it would at least add moisture to my hair or work as a leave in conditioner, but unfortunately it was pretty heavy and just sat on top of my hair. It never really seemed to penetrate my hair shaft at any point, therefore I can't claim any positive benefits from using it. (Well, besides my hair smelling good 😉!) However, it might be a great product for the right hair type work much better on thicker, coarse hair that can really tolerate heavier creams. The consistency reminds me of butter or coconut oil before it melts (see pic). It has some really great ingredients, and per the packaging, it's made with fair trade shea butter cruelty free, which is a plus in my book! It also says it has NO parabens, phthalates, mineral oil, animal testing, or petroleum and is color safe. The hold is not there and my hair is low porosity type 2b hair and i did not find it reducing frizz either. I pair this mousse with the Curl Enhancing Smoothie from the same product line and they work really well together! I section my hair and evenly distribute the Smoothie, then I use this Mousse to focus on my ends. Finally blowdry with a diffuser attachment. When I use both products together my curls clump together nicely and my ends stay frizz-free. I can also use the Mousse on its own for a more natural/less defined curl. I have been using this product in conjunction with the rest of the curlific line and I am a customer for life. I use the texture treatment each wash day which is once a week and I follow the instructions on the container which says to only leave it on for a minute after working over entire head. I follow up with the leave in conditioner and the curl definer and a moisturizer from another brand and I have noticed the difference! My hair feels stronger and it doesn't look dull as with other pricier brands. I am starting to notice length retention and my ends couldn't be more healthier! I love aphogee in general, but this line is now my staple styling line! As far as hair typing goes.. I have a mix of 4a-4c. As with others, I have not seen the entire line at Sally's, so I have to order from pharmapacks. Entire line includes the texture wash, texture treatment, leave in conditioner and curl definer styling cream.

Before Miss Jessie’s I used deva curl but when the lawsuit came out I didn’t know what to do for moisturizing my hair. My natural hair has an uneven curl patterns of 3a/b/c so it’s always been difficult to find a product that works w/my entire head. For reference MY curls are very malleable and cannot handle the thick consistencies of shea moisture. I’ve found this product as the perfect moisturizing curl cream I’ve tried since deva curl in which I’ve been able to layer the amount of product needed to address the different sections and patterns of my hair. If you are in between wavy and kinky/could hair and cannot handle thicker products this is DEFINITELY worth a try! I have straightened my hair since I was 11. So for like 24 years. My daughter has curly hair and I have always taken care of her curls. So I decided to start wearing my hair natural again but I have so much damage from straightening it for so long. I’ve been trying to find the right product to combat the frizz and help me get my curl pattern back. And WOW this product worked a miracle on my hair! I went to bed without a bonnet on to see how my hair would do and it was still soft with minimal frizz in the morning vs other products I’ve used where my hair is dry and knotted in the morning. My friend had told me about this product for years. I had little hope and thought it only worked for her gorgeous Hispanic curls because she just had great hair. I typically have wavy hair with random curls and sometimes straight ish hair with lots of frizz. My hair is thick and heavy. I put some of this product on after my evening shower and then plopped straight in bed (not suggested at all) and yet, somehow this product STILL managed to work and I woke up with cute, managed waves with very little frizz and lots of bounce/volume! This isn't necessarily a bad curl cream, but I do think it's overpriced and so I probably won't repurchase. This cream doesn't really give me any extra curl, which is the main reason I bought it, so that's a bit of a let down. It does make my hair soft though and provides some hold, so there's that. It also smells nice, not at all like pet shampoo like some people have said. More like something sweet, like a baked good, I can't quite put my finger on what it reminds me of. This cream does give a specific look, at least for me, and that's definition but with separation. If you're looking for big curl clumps this probably isn't the product for you, but if you like smaller clumps (not stringy, just smaller), you'll like this. Luckily that's the look I'm going for because I have layers, if I use a product that makes big clumps I end up looking like I barely have any hair. The best thing about this cream in my opinion is that it doesn't weigh down my very fine hair even if I use a lot of it (it comes out fast!). Not many products for curls can be used liberally on fine hair, so if your strands are fine and you like the smaller clump look this would probably be the perfect product for you!JD
The curl cream is great, it's light weight and has a very faint smell which I like. More important than the product though I would like to give a HUGE shout out to the customer service at COBIA. Immediately after I placed my order I received an email thanking me for placing the order. My product was shipped (for free!) quickly and efficiently through Canada post. The packaging was beautiful but also environmentally friendly AND COBIA included a nice little gift from me. Even though I am on the other side of the country COBIA took the time and energy to see that I was happy, they truly went above and beyond. I would definitely shop with them again and will definitely recommend them. Hopefully one day I can visit them in person in BC! Support local businesses, support COBIA 🙂
I don't understand how this product has such good reviews. I've found better drugstore products for half the price, or if I want to splurge I like devacurl touchable curls. This product left my hair stringy yet dry, and sticky. I've used products that leave a hard cast and then once you scrunch the stiffness goes away…not for this product. I also like versatile products that I can air dry, or diffuse. Don't even try diffusing with this product, it makes the stringyness ten times worse. I am on a very limited budget and I threw this product away after 3 uses (I don't think I've ever thrown product away) because I couldn't even tolerate it enough to keep it as a back up. I haven't tried the other products by this brand, but I will not buy this curl cream again.Kat

This product is amazing I honestly did not think it would all work on my hair. I have curls that are normally uncontrollable. This made my curls soft but tight. My hair felt a million dollars after using every product in order as stated how to use them. The packaging is simple but bright you can clearly see them on the shelf. They smell fresh as in you are in hair dressers having a wash and blow dry! But at home with the same effects. Easy to use all in all these are a great product for those with long loose curls and short tight curls.
I purchased matrix brand total results a curl can dream rich mask for curls and coils. I’ve found since adding this product to my hair washing routine that my hair is getting softer, full of moisture, and literally looks so much healthier. Firstly wow, full size bottles and all smell amazing with a super stylish and sleek design. I’m almost out of my 1st tube Oleo-Curl and I’m back for more. I hope Kerastase never stops making this. This is by far a girl with curls best friend. For years I’ve used from cheap drugstore products to high end very expensive salon products, some left my hair greasy, other stuff left it dry, separated and crunchy and by the end of the day I always had frizz with the other products. This is Amazing! My curls look great, feel soft and I don’t have frizz all day long. The bonus, my hair even looks good the next morning. Not only that, but most importantly, it wasn't heavy like a lot of creams can be. My hair was softer, the color more vibrant, and my styles held far longer than usual. It isn't sticky like most, either. When used on dry hair, it smoothed down pesky fly-away hairs and freshened that lovely scent it has. My hair looked polished and fresh. It gave new life to my tired hair, which means the world when nothing else has worked very well. This product does all it claims to do, and then some. Nice smell which is not gone after 30 mins using this product. Hair does not stick unlike other product and easy to comb through. For a touch up just use a little drop and kneed it through hair again, wonderful. You only need a little drop to get maximum effect. Product is lasting about 3 months when used daily.Anonymous

I struggled with definition and really had to look for a product that defined my curls. I was buying pricey product thinking that it would define my curls but eventually I found out I could save money!! I love mixing this gel with leave in conditioner as another reviewer mentioned. I rake though shea moisture’s curl smoothie and follow up with this product. I end up diffusing my hair after. Do not sleep on this product!! It is affordable and helps bring the definition I wanted. Don’t Shrink is a CGM approved protein gel with olive oil, shea butters, and glycerin. Flax seed really helps my hair retain its curl shape, the large jar helped me explore different styling techniques to see what works best with my hair and the price helped me feel better about re-styling failed experiment days vs conserving pricy product; which let’s face it, there’s a lot of fails in the beginning for curlies lol. I tried it out with super long hair and also with a long bob reset chop and both had consistent results. I achieved really great definition with a hard hold, I still had frizz but I also know this is most likely user error since I’m always improving my routines. I clarify every wash so I’m not one to comment on build up. I really wanted to love it, but I found out mid tub that I prefer shrinkage while I train my curl type. Like many wash and go naturalistas who rock the teeny weeny fro, I have gone through a lot of products trying to find that ONE which does what I need. I have finally found Aunt Jackies and I'm thrilled. It is the holy grail! I have moisturized curls that pop, no dryness or flakiness, and the curls last for DAYS with minimal fuss. For daily maintenance, I just fill a spray bottle with water, jojoba oil and Aunt Jackies leave-in and spritz that mixture to refresh my curls. Best of all, the entire regimen isn't a sticker shock to my wallet yet contains all the good, clean ingredients more pricy natural gels have.
