I bought super pink and royal purple here while I had to get racing red elsewhere. I needed to dye my wig that I wanted to use for a costume so I used this. I made sure the wig was able to handle heat before trying this and I also made sure that I had wefts of the wig I could test on. (The wig originally had a ponytail that I cut off and turned into wefts for something else) Honestly looks great considering I was starting from a pale purple shade and not white. Its not the color I expected considering I used rits website to figure out how much to use of each color to get the purple shade I liked but I also came into this knowing my wig wasn't white and that the pale purple was gonna add to the mix. The wefts also helped in seeing how long to keep my wig in for. The wig will do better with water that is at 180°F (just at simmering, not boiling) I kept the wig in the pot for 5 mins and behold a darker violet color.Purple Guy

I’m trying to grow out my highlights & “embrace the grey” but have a bit of fun with temporary colour while I do so. I bought this product after a lot of internet research. Did my patch test, this is a “natural” product, no ammonia, parabens etc so was hopeful. All ok & did a couple of strand tests too. Ready to go! PLEASE make sure you wear gloves, mask around your face, ears & neck with a barrier cream, rinse hair out over a sink or bath. DON’T shower it off over your body! You will look like a Smurf! I wanted to temporarily colour my hair for the start of the football (soccer) season. I left the blue on for about 2 and a half hours & the purple & pink for about an hour and a half. I wrapped my head in cling film in case it dripped, it’s a nice thick gel, so I don’t think it would but better safe that sorry. It smells fruity so no stinky head while you wait. I loved the result! My hair felt soft & moisturised, still does. I knew the blue wouldn’t last as long, red tones grip better, so after 2 weeks & 13 double shampoo washes, the blue has almost gone but the pink & purple is going strong. I still get purple hands while showering but no skin transfer so all good. I forgot to take a before so the first photo is after the strand test but you can kind of see my highlighted, grey & mousey “before” hair. Second & third photos are a day after colouring. Fourth & fifth is to show how the pink & purple have washed out & the blue is almost gone after a lot of washes. If you want a longer lasting semi permanent colour, I would highly recommend this product! Love this product!! Used for over 10 yrs now. Use Vaseline around ears and edges of face to keep stains off skin. Nail polish remover will do the rest. I have black hair and it will only show on porous strands such as bleached or blonde – otherwise it has no where to go and will stain things as it comes off. What I love is that it DOES stain which means as it fades out you still have color stained hair until it fades to a more pastel color. Keeps from having to do all the time. I use gloves to apply liberally. Smells delicious! I then wrap in a cap (plastic bag will work, too) and let it stay on as long as I can- note that this method almost blends into my black hair until a first couple washes. Also note that I would lay a towel over my pillow until the first couple washes. Also, note that I use a special towel for drying bc color will come off the wet hair. Also note that I don't wear white or swim until after the first couple of washes. It's a stronger look than a salon color and lasts a VERY long time. I’ve been using Punky Colors since they were originally called ‘Jerome Russell Punky Colours’. I am a professional hairstylist and I love these non-pro colors for solid colors. Cherry on Top is the perfect bright warm red. It’s bright, it’s true to shade, and there isn’t a hint of cold undertone. That’s why I prefer to use Cherry On Top paired up with the diluting clear to create my pastel pinks in warmer colors than the actual Pink Flamingo or Pastel line. It lasts longer and looks like bubblegum. Yes, this color bleeds. A lot. It is a high concentrate of pigment which helps it last longer on bleached hair and coat non-bleached hair. My suggestion to a lot of you is to get a black towel and black pillowcase so you won’t ruin anything! Always wear gloves. And just rinse it the best you can before adding any shampoo. Shampoo is what makes the color spread all over the tub and stain it. Even if you do stain the tub, most porcelain tubs it will wear off. I purchased the color "Dark Navy" hoping to achieve a deep blue color and it did exactly that ! As you can see on my before pic, I had bleached and stained blue hair from previously using semi-permanent blue dye, as well as dark blonde brassy roots regrowth. This hair dye is super easy to use! I love how it's just like shampooing your hair. I got the color soft greige because I wanted to slightly darken my washed out tips. However, because my hair was already pretty dark, this color lightened my natural black-brown hair and got rid of the brassiness from my previously dyed ends. Great product! I tried the rose gold color for lightened hair first and it didn't do much on my dark blond hair, so I figured I'd try this out. First I put it on wet hair and left it on for five minutes and that added subtle color, but not much. Next, I tried it on dry hair and left it in for about ten minutes and that made my hair very rose gold. It worked very well and I like how easy it is to control how intense the color is. Wear gloves, protect your bathroom, use on dry hair, section section section and fully saturate every strand. Leave on for 45 minutes like regular dye, then rinse with cool water. Then condition and rinse again. It's a cleansing conditioner, which means it's not a deep conditioner so you'll still need to follow up with your regular conditioner if you have dry hair. I had pre-color treated hair. I had bleached hair, that was dyed pink, with then brown put over top. My hair was dark brown almost black on top, medium brown in the middle, and light brown ends. I only applied the dye on my medium to light brown areas and ended up with a ombre dark brown root to beautifully rich and vivid purple. My hair is also ultra thick and wavy and I still have half a bottle left to use to maintain my color! I recommend 8 sections in pony tails for long thick hair, then letting down one by one and only taking half centimeter pieces at a time and saturating and combing through for the most even and vivid results.Lindsey
I have medium to dark brown hair. figured I would give this a try as box dye doenst take to my hair and salon color either a doenst last for me or is just too over priced for me to keep up on. I tried this as the instructions say with damp hair and it did nothing. So I tried it two different times now again with dry hair, once for 30 and once for 45, and with much much better results. I bought super pink and royal purple here while I had to get racing red elsewhere. I needed to dye my wig that I wanted to use for a costume so I used this. I made sure the wig was able to handle heat before trying this and I also made sure that I had wefts of the wig I could test on. (The wig originally had a ponytail that I cut off and turned into wefts for something else) Honestly looks great considering I was starting from a pale purple shade and not white. Its not the color I expected considering I used rits website to figure out how much to use of each color to get the purple shade I liked but I also came into this knowing my wig wasn't white and that the pale purple was gonna add to the mix. The wefts also helped in seeing how long to keep my wig in for. The wig will do better with water that is at 180°F (just at simmering, not boiling) I kept the wig in the pot for 5 mins and behold a darker violet color.Purple Guy
I bought the die to cover stains on my son's gray sweatshirts and to recolor my black jeans. I was expecting a deeper color on the jeans and the color was splotchy on a sweatshirt. I will fully admit the spottiness may have been from my lack of experience with the product. The good news is my son was happy with the end product. It looked like a single-color tie die. I have to start by saying that I'm not sure this grey colour is a fair representation of my view of this entire line as I liked the pink and purple shade in the same range, but the grey colour didn't show up at all in my hair. I have really light blonde hair so that's not the problem, but the colour is just too sheer and disappears when I apply it. Wouldn't recommend this shade in particular. The rest of the review consists of my general thoughts on the hair makeup range. A fun product that lets you play with colour in your hair without the commitment! Perfect for festivals and other occasions where you would want to have fun with different hair colours. You could create the most amazing unicorn hair if you bought a few different shades! Make sure you wash your hands between each colour as the colour does stick to your fingers a bit and it could turn a bit muddy if several colours were mixed. Easy to put on and comes out easily in one wash. You have to use quite a bit of product so I guess the little tube won't last too long, and don't even think about using this for an all over colour, there's no chance that would work as it's quite hard to make the application even. It didn't transfer onto my clothes or my pillow case. You can feel the product in your hair, but it's not anywhere near as bad as those hair chalks that were popular a few years ago.Linn
I was so excited when I first heard about the Colorista hair Makeup and it did not disappoint. Makeup for your hair, it is indeed! Like eyeshadow, it's just as easy to apply and remove. I applied and blended some of the beautiful rose gold pink formula to a couple of strands of my hair with ease and allowed the formula to dry naturally. The colorista hair makeup instantly gave my hair a new lease of life! The newly gorgeous, pastel, rose gold coloured strands of my hair looked so cute, vibrant and chic! The rose gold complimented my dark blonde hair beautifully and this is probably my favourite colour out of the collection so far! I was also pleased to find that when dried the formula did not transfer and it also felt really soft upon my hair. I have wanted to experiment with different coloured additions to my hair as I think they can add definition and character to blonde hair, although I have always been reluctant to as I do not want to apply a coloured hair dye that I would be stuck with wearing for a few weeks. I like to change my makeup colour shades and accessories from day to day and with the new Colorista hair makeup I can now do so with my hair too! I have 2b/2c wavy hair and it's pretty thick and dark brown. I got blonde balayage like 2 months ago. Anyways I bought the indigo color and the color was super dark purple at first. The more i've washed it the color has transformed to blue. It's been 3 weeks and i've washed my hair probably 10 times and it's still like bright blue 😂 I've never had hair color last this long so it's definitely great for the summer if you wanna try some funky hair! It's the one thing I can find that adds my particular color as I "shampoo". I'm grateful someone is making something for us people who like the look of stains. But honestly, it's a very small bottle and it's a bit pricy. I'm willing to pay it but with a caveat, there is no lather. It's exactly like when I've accidentally used the conditioner instead of the shampoo while in the shower. Not a great experience. So, how did it "clean?" Um, just like you'd expect conditioner to clean your scalp and hair. I use it but since I only shampoo every three days I want that creepy stank from scalp oil to not be on me. It's there. No… so I have to cheat by adding some of my other purple shampoo (no alcohol or other bad chemicals in it) to get a real clean experience. I use it alone every other time I shampoo and then I add enough of my other purple stuff on the alternating days to get rid of the scalp stank. I do not have oily scalp either. I don't even know how people with an oily skin condition would feel about this product. Would I recommend? Yes. But I would add my own experience just to get feedback from others. This review is for maintaining fashion color that was done professionally. I had purple and pink rainbow hair. My stylist recommended using this product as directed every other wash. I mixed the pink with a small amount of purple to make a dark pink. It really seemed to revive both colors. I applied to wet hair, used in place of shampoo and conditioner, left in for the rest of my shower, and then rinsed with cool water. Afterwards I applied olaplex hair perfector and a few drops of olaplex oil. Every time my hair was left perfectly soft and clean. I easily made it 3 months between color appointments. The bottle does say to test the product before each use. I imagine there must be some allergic reactions that can result, which I think is supported by several reviews stating they had hair loss. I would recommend being careful about trying to use this as a dye or for extended time on dry hair. This product does not work on my natural brunette growth. Lastly, this can stain your hands, but it won't for long. I just rinse my hands after every segment of hair that I work it into. I also have a scalp scrubber and wide tooth comb that I use to gently distribute so I'm not just using my hands. Rinse the product off of the shower walls and tub or it can stain, but bleach spray takes it right out.B
