We own a Newfoundland that loves the water. Last week of June we had a hot spell where temps were in the 90s consistently for days. Nights were humid. Trying to make sure all our dogs had plenty of water, we neglected to do a brush out at night under our Newfies chin and around his ears. Consequently mats formed over the hot days with areas not drying completely which made the mats worse. Mane n tail was recommended, it does work with smaller mats, I spent several moments every day working on the larger mats, following the directions, with very little success. We learned a valuable lesson with our Newfs fur and what we need to do better. Ended up cutting the larger mats to a smaller size, then applying Mane n Tail working on the smaller size mats. Our Newf was very patient but would only hold still for 1015 minutes provided I moved to different areas on his chin, chest and ears. Chewys delivery was great, smell of the product was fine. Its not a miracle mat untangler, also depends on the kind of fur being untangled. Works much better on our Great Pyrenees fur than our Newfie fur.Anonymous
Works on human and non human hair types. Works on all hair textures. Trusted and true. Can actually ]keep hair detangled throughout the day due to its silicone. Works almost just as good as silicone which is a gel that coats the hair and keeps the stands seperated. When using on type 4 hair if you dont have the desired slip WHEN detangling just use silicone or a hair butter.
Just purchased this detangler and Im in love. Ive tried so many different detangler products, all of which have left me in rage mode, frustrated beyond belief. I have super thin/fine/bleached hair, that tangled easily. Whenever I wash my hair I have to use a detangler or leave in before I can brush through it. This did an amazing job and detangling my hair, I could brush through it without any issues after a few spritzes. However, the smell is soooo sweet, very artificial, candied, something. I thought it would dissipate over the course of the day and it did not. I kept getting whiffs of it and was like 'who is that!?'. I have baby fine hair and really dislike conditioners that you leave in. I often use detangler and found this to not only detangle but also condition hair as well. Nice scent, not feminine by any means. One downside is the sprayers on this product shoot more of a stream than a mist so I have to use another spray bottle to get a fine mist. I thought this was going to be a leave in conditioner spray like pretty much every other one on the market. I was wrong. For this price the truth is that I expected more surprising results. I don't notice any positive difference between using it and not using it, I think my hair looks better if I don't use it, and that's why right now it's collecting dust in a drawer. Keep in mind that my hair is bleached and colored, but despite that it is very healthy. I think the problem is that this product contains protein and my hair is low porosity, so protein just doesn't do my hair any good and makes it look worse. If your hair is high porosity (if you stick a hair strand in a glass of water and your hair sinks) then this product might be worth it for you.iHerb Customer

Overall, this product is affordable and works almost as well or on par with the brand name product. It smells great and easy to use with a lock top, to keep it extra safe in case of children reach. I am pretty picky when it comes to products I apply to my daughters hair because she has thin hair. This product makes it so it much more easier to brush through hair after a shower, with toweling dried hair. I find hair products displeasing and reach less for them when they have a strong fragrance, I just don’t want to smell it while applying the product to my hair or waiting for it to dry but I don’t have to worry about that with this product. I feel like this product doesn’t work as well when my hair or my daughters hair is dry, it doesn’t make much of a difference. Which is the only downside because I would like to use it when my hair is dry, as to brush my hair when it’s gotten tangled throughout the day.tina.l

I got this for my Jon Renau HD wig because it was matted and frizzy just after a few wears and this was recommended to me as a solution. I can’t say this changed my situation much but I don’t think this product is to blame, it’s the quality of the wig I suppose. After coming out with this product the wig is tangled again after wearing it for an hour.
My hairpieces after about a month have been getting frizzy, ratty ends and nothing helped. I just purchased this product and it worked like a charm! I will never be without it. I could not believe how awesome my wig ends looked after using. Its a miracle. Thank you John Renau for such a great product!
The product works well for both detangling and conditioning. I use it nightly on the ends of NOT heat-friendly synthetic hair, combing it first with a wide tooth comb, then following with a tighter tooth comb, and third, a very close-tooth comb, then using hair clips horizontally to press those wild ends, due to their frizzy, non-friendly-heat pieces. It doesn’t “cure" it, but surely helps!

I used this first on my three year old daughter who has extremely fine, curly hair. While most products I’ve tried weigh her hair down, this one does not! Additionally, it makes her sometimes wavey hair into perfect doll-like curly cues. The product makes her hair look like a small curling iron was used to make those perfect spirals. Not only does the product work in both no humidity and high humidity, but it also smells really nice. It doesn’t have an over powering aroma at all like you get with a lot of products. Back to review another product from the 2020 spring walmart beauty box collection! Now I’m kind of biased on this product since I’ve been using it even before I got these samples. I purchased the full sized bottle at family dollar for under $6. Now let’s get to the results. Whether you follow all the curly hair rules and regulations or whether you just follow whatever your curly hair responds to, you might want to give this a try! It’s very good if your hair is in DIRE need of moisture on your refresh day, or just simply to define your curls on wash day. It’s also color safe if you have color-treated hair. If you hate the smell of coconut oil, I don’t think this is for you. However, the smell goes away after a while. It’s not as heavy as the coconut curling cream from @cantubeauty which I’ve also tried. I usually pair the curl defining cream from Suave with the leave-in conditioner and serum gel that come with the same line but it works well with products from other lines as well. My hair has no complaints so far. And for those of you who are curious as to what my hair concerns are, my hair is high porosity, color-treated, dry, damaged, and my curl pattern is 2c/3a. WOW! This works well on my 4C hair. It took a lot less work to comb through my hair that had sat for 2 weeks in a protective style, especially at the roots that get extra tangled. Plus, the price is great. Oh, and I used it on dry hair even though instructions say to use it on damp hair. I just used plenty to dampen my hair with the product. I have long thin hair that always gets knotted after washing. Not normal knots, large massive matted knots. There are actually not a ton of adult detanglers available that are an affordable option so I was forced to use kids detanglers. I have to say I have found my replacement! First, the smell is amazing! It smells great without being overbearing or making my head smell like a fruit. Second, it actually works! A few sprays and some working in with my fingers and I can tell a noticable difference in the ease of brushing my hair. You don't need to oversaturate your hair with the product, just enough to cover lightly.. All in all I am very happy with the free trial I received and will certainly purchase on my own.

The manufacturer has improved the ingredients in this product since I used it as a child myself. I've used some of the more natural detangling products, but there is a trade-off because they are not as effective and are more expensive. This product smells great (actually smells like pears), but it is sticky. However, it is the most effective thing I have found for detangling my child's curly hair. I don't believe there is a perfect product out there, but this is the best I have found yet.
