I like this leave in conditioner it has a water like consistency. It has almost a fruity pineapple scent. It doesnt moisturize my hair but It is also an additional heat protection so it makes my life easier to not constantly try to buy a seperate heat protectant for styling. It doesnt do much hydration at all but it does the job for a tiny extra bit of moisture. If youre someone that has low perosity hair i don’t recommend as it doesnt have much hydration properties at all but maybe for someone who has an oily scalp and want a more lightweight product this may be the one for you. I've used this product for several years, and like it a lot. The wig shop where I bought my wig recommended it to me, and I purchased my first bottle with the wig. Since then, I've had no reason to switch brands. It seems like a small bottle (8oz), but you only use a small amount in a sink full of water so a bottle lasts a long time. (I probably average 6 months per bottle, but your mileage will vary with the length of your wig, and how often you shampoo it). My wig is synthetic BTW. This conditioner is 10/10. I have tried “The One� conditioner and have also loved that one as well, but this one has different benefits. For one, it’s super light and not as thick as some conditioners, the slip is great. My hair used to look so dull if I didn’t wash it and now it looks shinier and feels super soft. My hair doesn’t feel heavy. The no fragrance makes a huge difference because I don’t have those extra unnecessary chemicals drying out my hair. One con for this is the bottle size. I should’ve bought a bigger bottle because of my thick hair I have to use a lot of product. The small bottle featured in the photo was between $10 and $13 and lasted me about 2 weeks. This formula literally caused my head and scalp to become insanely itchy and when you scratch, since the formula is so drying, your scalp gets flaky. It’s not dandruff, but looks like it because of all the flakes. I’m so disappointed with this product. I used this shampoo only once, and I could feel it making my hair a strange brittle texture as I washed it. I can generally wash my hair and not use conditioner, except for the first week after I get highlights. I could not even run my hands through my hair after washing. Needed to use a conditioner, and then still had trouble getting a brush through it. The bottom 2 inches of my hair remain unmaneageable since I used this product. Now I am forced to use conditioner just to brush through my hair after washing, even though I am using my previous shampoo. Very unhappy that it basically wrecked my hair. I was given this shampoo and the matching conditioner as a gift and I was very excited because I believed this was supposed to be a great conditioner. At first I believed it worked great! My hair sometimes gets oily and I no longer had oily hair at the end of the day but then I began to lose more hair than usual. Then I began losing HANDFULS of hair at a time. I was losing so much hair I truly believed I would go bald. I finally realized my hair loss was probably due to this shampoo and conditioner not just stress so I stopped using it. I am still experiencing hair loss but slowly my hair is getting back to normal. If you have thin hair I would NOT recommend you use this incase you do experience hair loss because my hair is extremely thick and I lost at least half a head of hair I can't imagine the damage this product could do if you had less hair to start off with! I am NEVER EVER using this brand or this product again!!!Emily

I have NEVER had issues with shampoo/conditioner up until buying this. I have tried many different cheap shampoo/conditioners, and decided to splurge a little on this product after seeing some hairstylists on social media recommend this brand. Unfortunately I have similar experiences as other low reviews on this product. I have noticed that I am shedding a LOT more hair than normal in the shower. I have also noticed after 1-2 weeks of use that my hair has started to feel greasy and heavy. It almost feels like the product did not get washed out of my hair. At first I thought maybe this was my fault that I didn’t rinse it out well. But last night I made sure to do a thorough job rinsing out my hair, and woke up with my hair the greasiest it’s ever looked after a wash. I’ve never had a product do this to my hair. I wanted to love this brand and especially this product, but I can't. Everything was fine until about 2 weeks in to using the shampoo and conditioner. My scalp first started getting dry and itchy, which has never been a problem for me. About 3 weeks in, excessive amounts of hair started coming out when I washed or brushed my hair. My hair wasn't falling out in clumps, but it was more than normal, causing me to be concerned about the cause. About 1 month in, there was a lot of dandruff, irritation on my scalp, and parts of my scalp were getting crusty, almost like a had massive dandruff buildup. I want to preface this that I have never had any of these problems with other brands, including other inexpensive brands, high end brands, and custom shampoo. I used other Kristin Ess product including the scalp scrub, detangler, and the scalp every day conditioner. I stoped using these products and stuck with just the shampoo and conditioner to see if my symptoms improved. My symptoms continued to worsen and I realized that it was the shampoo and conditioner causing all of my problems. I even showed my hairdresser and she thought that the brand was good because it claims to be vegan and and lacks bad ingredients. There is something in these products that caused all of my symptoms and is not good at least for my hair type. I would strongly encourage using another brand to avoid dealing with the symptoms I experienced. I am not saying you will have the same problems, but for me, it was awful. I am really disappointed in this shampoo/product. I waited for a second wash/usage before I gave my review, because I wanted to be fair and I wanted to give it a chance. I have 4b and mostly 4c hair, my hair is also low porosity and very densed. The very first time I washed my hair, my hair didn't take well to this product. I had to wash it a second time for my hair to feel managable, and even a third time on the firsrt try. One week later I washed my hair with this product again. After applying a nice amount of water to my hair, I applied this shampoo, but once again my hair did not respond well to this product. My hair felt like it had wax in it and was very filmy. I did use the moisturizer and the leave in conditioner, prior after my previous wash, so I might have used too much. However, I literally had to wash my hair 3 times for my hair to feel soft and clean. It does have a pleasant smell, and it did give my hair a nice shine afterwards, but it shouldn't take that many washes for my hair to soften, especially when I'm using a Black hair care product that claims to be for type 4 hair. The bottle isn't that big either. I really wanted to like this product for three reasons: 1) It was supposed to be for type 4 hair, 2) It's a Black Owned Company, and HBC Students Assisted in this product. That's the only reason I'm giving it 2 stars, but I had better luck with other hair care products. I would say, if you haven't tried it yet, try it for yourself. It may be okay for you, but it didn't do the job for my hair. I will not by this product again, it needs more work (in my opinion for 4c hair).Donna

AMAZING!!!… I actually considered not going natural anymore because I could not find a products for my daughters and I hair. Everyone in our household is natural and our textures vary from 4a, 4b and 3b. I love the water activated advanced conditioner. Normally I would have to use a detangling spray for my 4 year old because she fusses when it detangling time. I put the conditioner in and she did not fuss I was SHOOK!! and so HAPPY that I was able to complete our wash day without tears. Also the shampoo really cleaned her scalp and any residue that like to stick around after I rinse our hair. You guys have to try this combo ( shampoo and conditioner) it is a really good product!! This shampoo is holy grail. My hair felt better after one use! Hubby bought me the huge shampoo and conditioner I loved it so much! I recommend this to all ladies, especially those who have bleached or dyed hair. It makes my frizzy, wavy hair manageable and soft. It doesn’t have an intense smell, but it does smell good! The shampoo cleanses without stripping, and with this product I can go about a week without washing. I do rotate this with my purple shampoo, and I love that I don’t have to worry about this making my bleached blonde hair brassy in between purple shampoo uses. Although this makes my hair shiny and silky, my hair is falling out excessively when I brush and in the shower. I know you lose up to a 100 strand a day, but I'm losing an unusual amount. Never experienced this. I brushed through my whole head last night and had a whole clump of hair. Took a shower the next morning, then brushed again, and lost another huge handful of hair. It hadn't even been a whole day. It wasn't a gradual fall out of hair. I can only assume it is this shampoo because I don't use any other products on my head, other than its a ten miracle leave in product to detangle, but that never caused unusual fall out. However, my mom uses this shampoo and apparently it works good for her hair and we both love it's a ten, so I feel bad leaving this review but unfortunately my scalp didn't have a good reaction.Elizabeth

I wanted to love this because it smells really good in the bottle. I used in for the first time and when my hair air dried (I rarely blow dry anymore) it felt heavy, brittle and dry, but my roots were greasy, and my scalp started itching. I thought maybe it was a fluke and I was in a hurry and maybe didn't wash it out well. I used it a second time and really made sure to shampoo everything and rinse well. Same thing.
