I purchased this brush because it was recommended for fine hair. This doesn’t seem to be the case IMO. The plastic bristles are so long that the boars brush section barely even touches my hair. I think this brush would be great on thin hair. I have a lot of hair and even though it is short, this brush only gets the top layer so I have to do it in small sections which takes much longer and makes my hair look even thicker. It makes it poofy. And my head gets hotter because the dryer is on it longer. I have another one similar with wider spaced bristles that grabs bigger chunks at once and flattens it better. It is much less bulky than the high street equivalent, and has a nice semi rubberised texture to the handle which aids your grip. The bristles are attached to the body of the brush very well and gives the feeling of being able to withstand very harsh brushing as well the brute force of a 2 year old without worrying if the bristles will fall out. Cheap type of wood not solid and dense like another brand that's cheaper. When I was using the brush on wet hair the brush seperated from the paddle on the corners exposing the inside of the plastic under the brissels. The whole brush didn't come up from the paddle gladly. I bought the 855. I've only used it once, but so far I'm happy with it. You can tell it's of good quality materials. Haven't had the problems with the bristles falling out that I noticed in other reviews — but again I just got it. I have quite thick, coarse, and voluminous hair and it definitely holds on tight and gets through it without damaging it or ripping it like most brushes. And, it doesn't add frizz like other products I've used. My only complaint is the handle, which I wish was thicker or had a better grip on it. Kind of hurts my hand to use it after a while.F
I ordered the large brush. The brush looks great especially the finely carved handle (Italian craftmenship what else can you ask for?). The large size is also great for long hair because it can glide through more easily with the extra long bristles. This brush is also static free which is nice because I got very long and dry hair. The ONLY thing I don't like with this brush is that the bristles keep on falling out during the first 3 to 4 times that I used it. It is still falling out but less now. The paddle shape, for me, is too fat in the middle – wish this were oblong and narrower, so that when I flip my mid-back length hair to the front, it would prevent tangles better. My hair is evidently thicker than these bristles are designed for; it is difficult to get the bristles through to my scalp, which is, of course, what boar bristle brushes are supposed to do – keep hair healthy by distributing natural scalp oils the full length of the hair. I do like keeping this in my living room, so I can brush my hair while watching TV in the evenings to relax. If I brush the back half of my head from the underside, and the front half from the top, the brush manages to work for my whole scalp. While it doesn't completely penetrate my thick hair, it doesn't have bristles so stiff they scratch and damage the scalp; it's not perfect, but it still is one very nice brush.birda
I had been looking for a 100% Boar brush for about 6 months, but the ones that got really great ratings were hundreds of dollars. I cannot justify paying that kind of money for a hairbrush no matter how good it is. So I decided to give this brush a try. I LOVE IT!! The wood is beautiful, the handle fits my hand like a glove, the bristles are great and make my hair so shiny and silky. I have been brushing my hair every night and I love the results. I have a lot of hair, but it is fine. I am not sure how it will work on thicker hair, but with my fine hair…superb! I would highly recommend this hairbrush.Janice53
You need info to decide if this is the brush for you. I have fine hair, but I have a decent amount of it. Not a ton, but decent. This brush does not get through to my scalp unless I divide my hair into sections. Even then, not great. You need the brush to reach the scalp to distribute oils into your hair, so it's not super effective at that. For that purpose, I'm going to get a brush that's a combo boar/nylon. The nylon will reach your scalp. This brush is not a good blow-dry brush, either. Boar brushes are not meant to be used to blow dry long hair. That said, this brush is great for blow drying cowlicks out of my bangs. If you have bangs, you might want to consider it. It's also good for bang touch up during the day. So basically, if you have bangs, this might be a nice choice. Ineffective otherwise, unless you have very fine hair and not a ton of it.C

When I first got it my hair looked so silky and amazing, but after about a week the top of my head just started to look really frizzy and my hair is never frizzy. I realize this brush was ripping my hair and I had literally gotten this brush to combat that. I am really disappointed and have just started using my wide tooth comb again. The only time I use it now is on my bang if they are really not cooperating.Piper
