20 Best Finger Nail Polish Remover (2024 Update)

I have been experimenting with more natural nail polishes and polish removers. My nail tech used regular nail polish on my nails and when it was time to remove the polish I used what I had at home Mineral Fusion nail polish remover. The instructions said to saturate a nail wipe I used a cotton ball, and to leave it on the nail for a few seconds. It actually worked. It safely removed all of my polish without harmful fumes or chemicals. My nails are not dried out either. Any negative reviews on this product is most likely due to not reading the directions and using it properly. You must saturate a nail wipe or cotton ball and leave it on the nail for several seconds. This product does work well even on glitter nail polish. I do a pinkish neutral shade and then paint some abstract lines of a gold glitter polish over the nude shade but the glitter part was always quite difficult to remove. Mineral fusion does take off the glitter l, though it does take a little extra rubbing. I have no idea how people can say this does not have a strong smell or that it smells like mango. I think it smells awful although maybe not as strong the drugstore brands. It certainly is less drying and less toxic than other brands and this definitely is the remover I will continue to buy.Anonymous

I have started using color street nails. I recently tried removing them with non acetone polish remover. Oh man, it smelled awful and stung like crazy. I saw a YouTube video of a lady using this remover to get the polish off. She put a little of the remover in a plastic sandwich bag and moved her hand around and rubbed the nails a little. So, I bought it, and gave it a try. Is it weird that Im in love with a nail polish remover It worked amazingly, smelled nice, scent disappeared quickly, and my nails feel conditioned. It has a slightly strong acetone-type scent but it might just be the mango aroma that offsets it. This easily removed polish. A little bit of work for stubborn glitter polish though. Did leave white residue behind on my skin (fingertips) not my nails, but that was removed after a final wipe. My nails, cuticles and hands did not dry out although I felt a slightly non-visible oily feel.Michele Z.

This arrived nearly half empty! The top was taped to prevent it from leaking and there didn't appear to be any leakage in the packaging, so it was not full when they packed and shipped out. I know it's a good product. I've used it before, and with my previous purchases the bottle was full when I bought it. I was unable to attach the photo because this only allows 5 mb and mine was between 7.5 mb.Donna

This stuff is like magic! I use approx 2 TBS in a small baggie and put that baggy in a bowl of warm water. I stick my fingers down in the baggie and wriggle them around for about a minute and the nail polish just falls off. It is very effective at removing nail polish and my Colorstreet nail strips, regular, glitter, gel and everything else in between. I especially love that it doesn't contain acetone which can be especially drying to my nails and skin around my nails. The smell is great too. It leaves my nails feeling nourished and healthy rather than stinky, crusty and dry. The only reason it lost a star is the price is kinda steep. It is worth the extra cost and while I can afford it, I'll pay it. I do wish it was more budget friendly though. I recommend this product.brandy.r

Metallic polishes have always been my go to colour since aged 12 when my older sister told me these were easier to apply without looking blotchy. Whether or not this is true I still do not know 15 odd years later, but my habit has been set! Game of Chromes is a beautiful colour. Normally I avoid a polish this gold out of fear of it looking tacky, but there are a number of subtones to the colour that tone it down and cause it to look a mixture of silver, bronze and gold depending on how the light shines. Very much a statement polish still, but one that looks like it has been chosen by an adult! The polish is opaque enough that one coat will give you sufficient coverage, but I opted for two to get that added sparkle. Note you need quite a long drying time in this case. I tend to only use polish on my toes, and therefore I can't provide helpful comments on how resistant the polish is to daily chores such as washing up and typing. However it has lasted amazingly well on my toes compared to previous polishes I have used. Two weeks later and, except for my nails having grown a little, looks like I applied it yesterday. To be picky, the brush was slightly too large for my nails. My little toe nails needed more of a dot than a stroke! Certainly I would have struggled to do an accurate job on my fingers. However, this is common for me and I would rather the brush spread too far than did not cover my whole nail as it's not that hard to pick off the bits that get on the skin if needed. The polish did go on smoothly and very streak free. As mentioned before, I did two layers and it took a while for the first one to dry enough to attempt the second coat so had to flap round the house wiggling my feet like a mad lady for a while. The top coat was very good and seemed to really meld with the colour polish. Note that you get best results using this in sunlight as that sets the polish in the same way a UV lamp does for normal gel nails. Not the easiest when you're doing this on your toenails and don't have a garden, but I managed! Overall I'm very happy with this polish and think it's great to not need to go to the salon for a long lasting finish.yelitza.s

If you enjoy using any of the beautiful gel polish from Sally Hansen then you will definitely love using their gel polish base coat. As this base coat help bind or adhere the color better to our nails. For me I think it helps not protect our nails but also help the nail color last longer as well. This doesn’t need anymore reviews but I had to leave one cos it works that well. Please watch the video on how to use it – that is super important. In my opinion, it works better than acetone, differently but more effectively if the directions are followed. Somehow it seems to increase in my cotton ball and I only use one soaked cotton ball for all 10 fingernails. With acetone I’ll have to either use more cotton balls or rewett the one I am using. The nail polish, by the time I get to my second hand, just slides off and I have so much liquid in the cotton ball I have to wash my hands afterwards. This 4 oz bottle is going to last a while and I think my search for a nail polish remover ends here. Oh and my nails are moisturized. Believe the hype. ( no the nail polish will not come off immediately but when it does, it will come off totally and easily, I don’t even get the hidden corner polish that always seems to escape my other removers! )M

I liked that this nail polish remover could remove glitter nail nail polish. Other reviews mentioned that this product didn’t remove glitter nail polish. My nail polish was already chipping perhaps that’s why I could remove it with this product. It does take a little bit of time to work the product on your nails to get the removal process started. However, this is nothing considering that I don’t get split, peeling, or dried out nails from this product like I do with regular acetone nail polish remover. Also, there is no nauseating, harsh chemical smell! I think this product is worth the price.Kk

Looking for a polish remover that is unscented and cruelty-free, I though I had hit the jackpot. However, those are the only factors that earn it ANY stars at all. Almost $12 for a small bottle; it's very oily, and barely removes ANY polish. I scrubbed with a cotton pad, and just got bits of cotton stuck to my nail. Then I tried a paper towel, which held together better, but still barely removed ANYTHING from my nails. I like to do intricate nail art, but with this product, the removal process has become the most time consuming and frustrating part of my manicure.Christine A.

I tried a cheaper remover, and big mistake! I won't switch from OPI again. You rub your nails less because it removes polish quickly. Which means it's not sitting on your nails as long. It even removes the extra long wear polishes like the at home gel type longer wear polishes, and I use 4 coats of polish! It is worth the price.Love to look fresh

I didn't like this product at all. I had tried it a few years back before the cosmetic studio that I worked for started carrying OPI as part of a franchise contract. The nail polish remover was too over priced for the amount that was given and it has a high evaporation rate of loose product while it was placed on the shelf with or with out display lights. The product seems to be absorbed too quickly on a cotton pad as well but the only perk was that it didn't bury the fingers like other name brands. I would not recommend this product to any one. Also the nail wipes that they once carried in lavender as an alternative to this nail polish remover had a flaw too, it use to expand in the box which was worrisome for the staff members including myself at the studio. I am very impressed with the Cutex Care Swipe & Go Non-Acetone Nail Polish Remover Pads. The pads are very saturated, strong, and effective at nail polish removal. Love love love. I hate the messiness of a bottle of remover and I usually only wear in a few coats not gel or regular polish but I am confident this would be just as brilliant. Also love especially to keep in a makeup bag when I travel in case paint chips or I need to removed and change a color. I tried to switch to the but it was like a forearm workout every time just to take off one hand and also it ruined a piece of furniture and an article of clothing of mine 🙁 so I am back to this. I think my only issue is my cuticles and the skin around my nails get dry but I just make sure to hydrate extra extra after I am done. I've been wanting to try this remover for a while. I am familiar with the pump style because I have one from Flowery that I use and love. It is identical in style and I'm familiar with how to use it properly. So I finally ordered this, and the pump that I got was leaking… it leaked over the rest of my order, and then when I tried to use it, it will not push down and pump properly. It's as if there is a blockage preventing it from pushing down about 90% of the time even when it is turned to the "on" position. But, you can always order from Ulta with confidence, so customer service replaced it (after a long time on hold, of course. Hassle.). BUT unfortunately the new one I got also has a broken pump. This pump is broken in a different way! It will push down just fine and I push and push and push, but no fluid will come up to soak the cotton ball. That's two strikes out in a row. I'm afraid if I call again they'll think I'm lying, so I prob should exchange in store so I can show them, and our stores aren't even open in MI right now. If you order this, I strongly recommend making sure that you can exchange it at Ulta. The whole point of this remover is the awesome pump. And as I unscrew the top and turn it upside down just to get liquid on a cotton ball, I will admit to feeling extremely annoyed at what I paid. As for the quality of the remover itself, I find the OPI expert touch lacquer remover is superior, but this is still good polish remover.ChinjillaVanilla

This Zoya nail polish remover takes off EVERYTHING you can polish with and by that I mean glittery nail polish just swipes right off. It doesn't dry out my cuticles or make my nail beds feel weird. I love this product – however – the lid is temperamental. Some days it will pump the product onto my cotton round, other days I have to remove the lid to use it. Could be worse, the product inside the bottle is very good so I'm willing to forgive the lid issue. The smell doesn't really bother me because I use a Dyson fan/hepafilter all the time so smells are never an issue.Anony

I love this nail polish remover! It is gentle on your nails and gets even the darkest colors off easily. This only works with regular nail polish. Not gel or acrylic. It has a nice scent and not the overpowering scent you're used to! Love all Zoya nail products but especially this remover. Powerful 100% acetone for acrylic or glitter nails works great! Make sure you don't tip or drip on wood tables or plastic tablecloths cause seems to melt it. This stuff is strong so keep away from children! Professional grade acetone gets hard polish off quickly and eats at your skin so use in moderation. Use with cotton pad or ball. This is some powerful polish remover! If you use the polish strips, gel polish. Glitter polish, or go to the salon to get your nails done regular non acetone polish remover is not going to cut it. Acetone cuts right through the tough stuff and it doesn't take much effort on your part to get it off. I soak a cotton ball and then hold it on the nail a few seconds then start wiping it off and that makes a huge difference rather than wiping it from the start. I had polish strips on my toes for seriously 3 months so you know those were stuck to the nail and not going anywhere! This stuff took it off no problem and it doesn't leave the polish color all over your skin either. It does smell very strong and it will dry your skin out fast so don't overdo it, a little goes a long way!Casjoia

I do all the nail stuff myself at home- you name it, I do it – gel, dip powder, etc. all the stuff that is REALLY hard to remove. This Eternal brand acetone works great and in my opinion is waaay better than the other acetone removers out there. I compared it to a brand I buy from the beauty supply store, and another higher end brand you can buy at Walmart and other stores but I noticed something funny. Even though the others brands I compared this one to also say 'pure acetone' on their labels, they have other ingredients listed on their bottles. Eternal brand however, does NOT have any other ingredients listed, this one really is pure acetone. And it works! It works really, really well. This is going to be my 'go to' from now on!Jester

I think this works great for the price. I purchase fake nails from brands like Kiss because I have small children and don’t always have time to go to the nail salon. Well, when I put them on I use really good glue and that can make it difficult to get the nails off. I used to just bite them off, but I know that’s not good and wanted something that would get the nails off for me. Acetone is the way to go. I did have to do it twice, but when you use extra strength glue what can you expect? I will suggest trying the cotton pad and aluminum foil method, but if you can’t, just soak your nails in the acetone. Anyway, I definitely recommend.Tay

It works great at getting my powder dip nails off! it works well on glitter polish too. I do use finger soaking caps with cotton balls and it works quickly! I go in and buy it in store, that is because after seeing in the store on the shelf, most of the bottles are half empty. This is hands down the best, most efficient nail polish remover I’ve ever used. It easily cuts through multiple coats of nail polish and removes it without leaving a trace. It is slightly drying to the nail but does no damage. It is moderately priced compared to other nail polish removing products but a great value given it’s far superior performance. This nail polish remover absolutely just does the job well! Yes it could be a little bit harsh going around the cuticle, but that’s what oil is for! I bought this stuff at Five Below for a year or two regularly. I recently moved and tried using a none acetone nail polish remover because my boyfriend didn't like the scent. It takes so long and is more of a hassle than it's worth. Since he still insists it smells like acetone, I went back to buying my favorite remover. This comes in several 'scents', they all have the same removing strength. Although they are colored they will not stain your nails. For example I have another remover that is pink that I used when I was trying to clean up, not remove, a white manicure and it started dying the white polish pink. As far as the scent goes you can get a whiff of whatever scent it claims to be but regardless the base note is the acetone, so don't go straight sniffing the bottle. It's a great price and this is probably the average size bottle. This is coming from a nail blogger that uses tons of different polishes, tons of nail art, glitter, and has every kind of remover possible including gel removers, etc. This by far works the best and is the one I use the most. This is PIGGY PAINT nail polish remover. If you look at the bottle, it very clearly states that, yet this product has a negative rating due to blatant misuse and irresponsible reviews. No, it is obviously not going to work on nail polish that contains chemicals (yes, even your “3 free,” “5 free,” “7 free” and “9 free” nail polishes STILL contain harmful chemicals and even often contain those which are supposedly not present). I have Piggy Paint for my daughter, which is non-toxic and responds to the remover made specifically for it (though any other nail polish remover will take it off, of course, as those would probably remove paint from your car!). Do not buy this product unless you are actually using the product it was made for, Piggy Paint nail polish. And, when you’re reviewing a product, make sure you are not giving a negative product review due to user error or something that is no fault of the product itself, such as shipping issues. I am so happy to have a great nail polish remover for my girls that I feel good about them using. As a Mama I worry about harsh things to expose them to. When I found this remover I loved to know that it was Non Toxic and LOW ODOR. We no longer have to smell that awful remover smell. This only has a slight alcohol odor which is nothing compared to what I have encountered for years. No Acetone, Added Aloe & Vitamin E and Eco Friendly and affordable and works nicely. I had used the Piggy Paint nail polish. The polish is really great by the way. I like that it is safe for kids. The remover is a big disappointment. I always use the Sally Hansen Strengthening Nail polish remover. I works well with one single application. It does not seem to dry your nails as soon removers do. I tried one polish remover and it appeared to crack my nail; yes, I felt it damaged them. I have thin nail and this remover does not dry them or damage them.angela.l

I purchased this product expecting it to easily remove my gel polish manicure. It did nothing to help. It seemed to make the polish harder not softer. I used an emory board to buff off the shine of the gel polish first and then soaked my fingers in the polish for more than 2 hours and nothing. My suggestion is just buff the gel nail polish soak in regular nail polish and repeat. This polish is not worth the extra money.natasha77

I'm truly impressed by this polish remover! I'm a nail artist so I've used a lot of different kinds of removers and usually they're all about the same and they all stink and give me a headache. But this actually smells amazing! It reminds me of a tropical island lol and it works great! This is now the only kind of remover I will use! So, my best friend bought me and herself a bottle of this. We went to the nail salon a few weekends ago and got gel nail set. So she used her nurse about a week ago and she told me that it wasn't working. So she said how long was she supposed to soak her fingers in it? It says 15 minutes and she said she ended up having to pick the Nail off. Now her nails are flimsy. I decided to try my bottle to get my gel tips off. I literally have been soaking my hand in the stuff for about an hour. And it's not working that good , so I used my acetone polish remover instead. Maybe it's because we had gel nail tips. Easy to use and long laster. The bottle makes it pretty leak proof which is nice. I've had my bottle for 2 years and have done my nails every week and it's still got plenty of product left. I have been using the regular Publix Walgreens CVS nail polish remover‘s and they have been a pain in the butt for me. For some reason my nail polish never comes off. So I bought this jellyfish artificial nail polish remover just to try to see if it will be stronger and it was. It works really good and my nail polish comes off really fast and I don’t have to waste a lot of cotton balls and a lot of nail polish. It also works great on Gel obviously!andrea.@

I have yet to use this item but I have heard nothing but good things. I would assume it's quite similar to others, young nails has swipe for example. This one seems a bit more affordable so definitely and highly recommend and yes I will definitely purchase this next!lillian.g
