I’m torn on this base/top coat. As a base coat I think it does a great job in making sure the polish doesn’t chip or flake, but as a top coat you need to run rubbing alcohol overtop, otherwise it stays sticky after curing in the light. It does stay nice and shiny after use, but it doesn’t mention anywhere that you need the alcohol to set it, so the first time I used it I had to remove everything and re-do without a top coat, as I didn’t have the alcohol to set it!kate.m
VERY shiny, durable gel polish if done correctly. In between salon sets I did my own nails at home with this polish… even my nail tech asked me what polish I used because of how shiny it was. But, I saw these two products and I used them on my nails and none of them have popped off yet.. unlike how they were when I didn’t have primer and dehydrator. I bought this because the box claims it makes nail polish (at least OPI nail polish) last much longer before chipping ("up to 11 days of gel-like wear and shine", actually). I work with my hands and I feel the act of painting/doing my nails is way too time consuming, so it is very important to me that my nail polish stay put and stay unchipped for as long as possible. I used this kit exactly as directed, applying multiple coats of each bottle, used my OPI brand Infinite Shine Long-Wear nail polish (the recommended nail polish to use with this kit, I used the gorgeous, sexy red shade "An Affair in Red Square"), and let dry completely. My nail polish WAS very shiny and pretty when it was done. However, in one or two days my nails were already chipping. I really hate spending half an hour to an hour (natural drying takes forever) doing my nails only to have them get messed up after one or two days at work. So I just wear my nails completely bare basically all the time. I only use nail polish and do my nails maybe once every few months. So does this nail kit make your nail polish shiny and pretty? I suppose so, even though nail polish is shiny as-is. It does make your polish look more gel-like. Does this nail kit prevent chipping for "up to 11 days"? Well I suppose TECHNICALLY yes, it was "up to" 11 days… But *I wouldn't use or recommend this kit to prevent chipping of nail polish if you work with your hands.* It simply doesn't work well for that. I have yet to find anything that will make any nail polish last longer than a day or two without chipping, while I hold a job in which I constantly use my hands. So if you want gel-like nail polish, I recommend this kit, and you should get that gel-like result with any nail polish you use with it. I've used OPI products since I was a little girl. It's long been a favorite nail care brand of my mother's. She went through many years where she would only wear I'm not really a waitress, I still associate that color with that ideal woman we always wanted to be when we grew up. So, when I was offered to participate in this cashback campaign, even though I had never used any of the infinite shine products, I knew I would love it. It's even better than I thought!!! Alpine Snow is an old favorite color of mine but the blue color: To Be Continued is new to me. TBC is a beautiful light baby blue that is mesmerizing! It would work in literally every season and I do think it would be beautiful on most skin tones. The OPI formula has always been a winner. I was glad to find all the shades I was looking for through the Ulta.com app but had a hiccup with customer service I had never encountered before that got me a little ruffled. It was quickly shipped but with excessively poor packing that damaged the chrome paint on the bottles. Which I am fortunate was the only issue cause the way they packed it could easily have broken everything in it. To which I wrote CS and they did not seem to care. So I expect nothing will change. I am not real happy with the downside I have seen shipping and handling customer care from Ulta lately. Onto the actual polish. It’s a lovely shade of light pink with no nude/ brown town to it. Just above ballet slipper. Though it looked a little more watery than I prefer, it did not run at all and I had good control with each layer. I tried a thin on and a thicker one to check coverage. You can get good coverage with one layer done thickly. If that is your preference. Dry time isn’t to long, either. By the time you get through coat one, you may be ready to do coat two. The color is amazing. It is like graphite—almost black with a subtle slate shimmer. However, I find this color tricky to work with. It shrank up during the curing process, and it took four thin coats to build up the color. This left me with a thick manicure that was a bit sheer toward the cuticle and free edge. I really like compact foundations and this one does not disappoint. I ordered Candlelight and it was perfect for my light/medium freckled skin. I'm 64 and have dry skin. I bought this because the box claims it makes nail polish (at least OPI nail polish) last much longer before chipping ("up to 11 days of gel-like wear and shine", actually). I work with my hands and I feel the act of painting/doing my nails is way too time consuming, so it is very important to me that my nail polish stay put and stay unchipped for as long as possible. I used this kit exactly as directed, applying multiple coats of each bottle, used my OPI brand Infinite Shine Long-Wear nail polish (the recommended nail polish to use with this kit, I used the gorgeous, sexy red shade "An Affair in Red Square"), and let dry completely. My nail polish WAS very shiny and pretty when it was done. However, in one or two days my nails were already chipping. I really hate spending half an hour to an hour (natural drying takes forever) doing my nails only to have them get messed up after one or two days at work. So I just wear my nails completely bare basically all the time. I only use nail polish and do my nails maybe once every few months. So does this nail kit make your nail polish shiny and pretty? I suppose so, even though nail polish is shiny as-is. It does make your polish look more gel-like. Does this nail kit prevent chipping for "up to 11 days"? Well I suppose TECHNICALLY yes, it was "up to" 11 days… But *I wouldn't use or recommend this kit to prevent chipping of nail polish if you work with your hands.* It simply doesn't work well for that. I have yet to find anything that will make any nail polish last longer than a day or two without chipping, while I hold a job in which I constantly use my hands. So if you want gel-like nail polish, I recommend this kit, and you should get that gel-like result with any nail polish you use with it. However, if you are looking for anti-chipping, I don't recommend this kit.kira.d
I've used OPI products since I was a little girl. It's long been a favorite nail care brand of my mother's. She went through many years where she would only wear I'm not really a waitress, I still associate that color with that ideal woman we always wanted to be when we grew up. So, when I was offered to participate in this cashback campaign, even though I had never used any of the infinite shine products, I knew I would love it. It's even better than I thought!!! Alpine Snow is an old favorite color of mine but the blue color: To Be Continued is new to me. TBC is a beautiful light baby blue that is mesmerizing! It would work in literally every season and I do think it would be beautiful on most skin tones. The OPI formula has always been a winner. Incentivized for the Opi infinite shine campaign on #influenster through #Ulta.com . I was glad to find all the shades I was looking for through the Ulta.com app but had a hiccup with customer service I had never encountered before that got me a little ruffled. It was quickly shipped but with excessively poor packing that damaged the chrome paint on the bottles. Which I am fortunate was the only issue cause the way they packed it could easily have broken everything in it. To which I wrote CS and they did not seem to care. So I expect nothing will change. I am not real happy with the downside I have seen shipping and handling customer care from Ulta lately. Onto the actual polish. It’s a lovely shade of light pink with no nude/ brown town to it. Just above ballet slipper. Though it looked a little more watery than I prefer, it did not run at all and I had good control with each layer. I tried a thin on and a thicker one to check coverage. You can get good coverage with one layer done thickly. If that is your preference. Dry time isn’t to long, either. By the time you get through coat one, you may be ready to do coat two. I bought this to use as a nail polish primer to help smooth the ridges in my nails while I was trying to make them grow out and become healthy. I ran out of it after about 6 months, and my nails had grown out so I switched to just a regular nail polish primer. After switching I realized that my nail polish wasn't lasting nearly as long as it would when I was using this ridge filler! Londontown nail products hit a nerve for me with my very dry, peeling nails and thick cuticles, so I purchased all the products in the steps to healthy nails and I am not disappointed. After a few years of non-stop gel, acrylic, pop on and extension nails, back to back to back; my once perfect nails were incredible brittle, dry and rough. A couple of months ago I realized how damaged my nails were becoming so I've stayed virtually polish/extension free. I thought I would give this ridge filler a try…I was pleasantly surprised how well it works! I filed and tried to smooth them out, but you could still see and feel ridges. Run, don't walk. This product is a whole grail. I have a terrible habit of biting nails as a stress coping mechanism and this grew back my damaged nails. I got a two piece set of nail polish shades "oh Donna" and "modern love" in my March #boxycharm #boxyluxe box. The first thing I noticed was how small the bottle is. About half the size of a regular polish which is kind of surprising considering they're about 10× the price. After getting to use them the colors are really nice! Its a medium thick polish and it is really pigmented. I can use one coat and get the full effect or use two to make it a little more dramatic. It seems to dry pretty quick which I really like. It has a semi gloss finish. I'm not yet sure about the durability of it but I will update my review when I have a better idea. So far it's is a really great nail polish I gave it 4 out of 5 because of how small it is and how high the price is. I couldn't convince myself to pay that much for nail polish even though its really great.
This was my first product from Deborah Lippmann, came in a sample set from Sephora. Perfect summer color for toes! Light turquoise-aqua base, with subtle-ish navy blue iridescent sparkles. Very in line with the mermaid trend, but in a grown up way. Two coats on my toes did it for me and it stayed on a good two weeks before chipping. It has a somewhat gritty texture because of the glitter so I decided to forego a topcoat as it seemed like it would only make the polish more rigid. While I love it on my piggies, trying it on my hands was not as successful. The formula seems to chip so easily on fingers and topcoat only made the polish fall off the nail in one full piece rather than in chips. Tried again with a super adhesion base coat but not much better results. I say A+ for pedis and C- for manis.member-7b4d1
