I had issues with the standard metal (pull up push down) bath plug, so I pulled it out. This is a long hair household, so the drain gets plugged frequently, and it was hard to fish it out around the old plug. The cylinder on the bottom of this flex plug is smaller than the drain itself, but the wide flap generously covers the area around the drain, so it completely plugs the water during baths. This also makes it easy to pull out & remove hair. I don’t have a problem with “how difficult it is to remove the hair”. Just take some scissors, remove the hair, clean the plug, and put it back. It’s easy. You push down and pull up the flap in the centre to drain water. I haven’t had a problem with how quickly the water drains during showers or baths…just clean the hair at the rate you should, and would have to with any other drain plug. It’s been a month, and I haven’t noticed any smells…but I will be curious about how this holds up in a year. I do mustard baths, bath bombs, salts, coffee, etc…no issues with draining or staining.Carly

Unfortunately the hair gets tangled in this product and is very hard to remove. I’ve purchased the starfish style before which works a lot better. This product becomes very clogged easily and the tub fills up with water when it should drain. I would not purchase this again.K Boni

I bought this and it is amazing. At first I thought it was a little expensive but when I add up all the money that I spent on other so called hair catchers I should of bought this on day one. The only issue that I can think of for anyone is if you live in a mobile home. My sister lives in a double wide and it was too big for her drain. I am purchasing a second one for my other bathroom. They also make ones for your bathroom sinks.Gail

This is the best invention. The one that is raised up on the top is the best. We got the one that is flat on top with four holes, but it didn't drain during the shower. This one works perfectly. You know it's ready to clean when the water starts pooling. Easy to clean too.Hwbucky

Does what it supposed to do. Catches a lot of hair! You have to clean it each time before taking a shower or expect water to stand and then you have to clean it in the middle of taking a shower! Bought a couple of these two years ago and when I used the first one in my shower, I saw it started to catch hair on top of the drain (in the flower part). When I removed it, there was no hair on the chain at all, so I tossed it in the trash. A few months ago, I had cleaned the drain with vinegar and baking soda, and saw the second Hair Wig in the cabinet and decided to try it again. These little guys work great. They fit right into the drain without plugging it up in the process, unlike that drain mushroom which lets so little water through you're instantly standing in a puddle. IF you have long hair and you HATE to stand in water as you shower…GET THIS. To me the amount of HAIR pulled out of what my husband thought he already got out…was amazing. He hates when I buy these things…so I didn't show him. He usually "snakes" our drains every now and then because HE can not stand hair clogging the drain and making the water run slow. SO I went into our downstairs shower first…I actually thought..this isn't going to work..but low and behold after I wriggled the thing down the drain ..a large amount of hair came out. My 2 sons and I both have A LOT of hair. I sent this to college with my 2 sons for their shower as they both have longer hair. I haven't heard if they actually tried it. I noticed the other day that my upstairs shower…which my husband always "snakes" if it runs slow…was starting to slow down. So I decided to give it a try. Low and behold I managed to pull out large amount of hair. I for one do NOT try to clean mine. I just throw it out. Too gross for me. I did not get much out of my bathroom sinks…small about of gunk but nothing like the tubs. SO in my opinion use THIS ONLY on drains that are clogged with hair as the other "gunk" may be better to just use liquid drano on as these are way to expensive to use on just gunk. It sure drags out the hair but for the price…and what you get. AS MUCH as I love it…I feel I have to save it for the shower drains with the hair. IF not for the $$ this would get 5 stars. Such cheap product should come with at least 10 little attachments with an option to buy just the attachments once you buy your first set of handles. If you have clogged slow drains because of long hair…you won't be disappointed in these little wonders. I think I impressed my husband…so I will buy more although they are a bit pricey for what you get. BE careful with the little wands they will stick to your cloths and any material and snag it. To be honest they are easy to use because this isn't my thing…un clogging drains I leave up to my husband but since he doubts some of these "finds" of mine I had to show him it worked ! This is a fantastic find for drain clogs! I have a pedestal sink in one of my bathrooms and my daughter and I have long hair so the drain clogged up badly. I tried using a plunger but very little came up. I could not use a drain snake as the top of the drain is divided into fourths and the snake would not fit. And lastly, I did not want to use Drano. So this amazing tool cleaned out my drain in 5 seconds. I couldn't believe it. What attached to the wand was absolutely disgusting. I had to throw out the pipe cleaner looking item because it was too filthy. But, it was worth it as my next step was to call a plumber which would have been a pretty penny!!! This thing is a wonder and a godsend! I have tried other plungers and devices to unclog sink drains, and this really beats them all. After the first few seconds of spinning the wand halfway down its length, I got some resistance, then pulled the wand up. I got a big clog of black gunk and tangled hair. After cleaning off the wand tip and repeating this action twice more, the sink was completely unclogged and draining like it hadn't in years. If you suffer from a slow draining or clogged sink or shower drain, you must first try this before calling a plumber! It will more than pay off for itself. A tip — the wands are supposed to be disposable, but if you clean the tip well enough, you can reuse it again.leftybass1954

I never could get the tub one to work with our drain mechanism, and the sink version got clogged with soap scum and hair to the point that I removed it altogether. I did keep the shower shroom in place, but it gets clogged with man lint in all the little holes, as well as my long hair. The only benefit is that the clog happens at the top of the drain and can be easily removed rather than going all the way down and clogging the pipes. When we do a deep clean of the shower and take the drain cover off, the shower shroom is so gross, full of soap scum and slime. It takes a lot of vinegar power and scrubbing to get it clean again.I want to believe in the power of the sink shroom but I have never found it to work as advertised. Bummer.Erin

I bought this specifically for my fragile drain in the back of my house. For $14.00 I was expecting results. I already had a super cheapy version I was using until it arrived because they are not sold in stores. It fit well inside of the drain so I was excited it would do its job and catch all of the hair. First shower with it, it caused the water to back up because it couldnt drain quick enough through the holes on top. I ignored that because in my mind, it was catching all of the hair better than the junk Id had so it would prevent me from having to pay another plumber to clear the drain. On the 3rd day before I showered, I pulled it up expecting to see hair on it. There were maybe 3 hairs on it which told me not only did it NOT prevent hair from going down the drain but its boasted performance and results were clearly not based on real users experience. Finally, we think we have found the BEST hair catcher ever. Brilliant design, how it allows for the water to still flow through at the top while catching the hair below. All other devices we have tried may catch the hair, but the water is slowed in the draining process at the same time, as more hair gathers. This one is fantastic. So I’ll admit I bought this more so to match my beach themed shower curtain, as thought it would add a little whimsy to my bath. Now, having really long hair that requires a weekly fishing expedition to yank the hair collection from the drain, I was hopeful this would do the trick to catch the hair. While I admit I have to push the suction cups firmly into place prior to turning on the water, it really is catching and collecting the hair. Good product! Keeps the hair out of my shower drain. Make sure you remove it and give it a good cleaning at least weekly or it can get mildewed. This just doesn't work. Like another reviewer, I tried this on multiple shower & tub drains. The mini suction cups don't stick well, despite cleaning the surfaces thoroughly. But whether they stick or not, so much hair gets under this "cover." There was very little hair on top of this item, there was some wound around the mini suction cups (which seem to do a better job catching hair than the top), but most hair and soap scum was underneath on the drain (or down the drain). There is also a surprising amount of residual scum and mildew on the item for only using this a few times. It's too bad because it's really cute and this rubbery plastic won't rust. Definitely do not recommend this item, and wish I could return.smartgirl22

This hair stopper is great! I had clogged the drain in the bathtub with my super long hair. I had to use a snake and Draino to clear it out. I bought this and it catches all my hair!!! 1) This bathroom drain hair stopper strains hair better than anything else I have tried. Some family members are unhelpful about removing hair from simpler hair strainers when done in the shower. this one holds more hair until I happen to come into the bathroom and can remove their hair myself. This strainer does a pretty good job not letting hair go underneath it. 2) This strainer stays put. Other strainers float up when the water does not drain out of the tub well. 3) This strainer has enough surface area for hair to stick to it whiles still having open holes, whereas other strainers clog up, so that water cannot drain. If a strainer doesn't drain after catching the hair, my family members remove it and let all their hair go down the drain. Laundry: If you use it to strain lint and dog hair when doing laundry, the lint and dog hair can be too much if you have lots of dog hair in your house. But that's not what it was designed for. I also use one in the laundry sink anyway. I trimmed it to fit the curve of the sink.Christi

Sooooo this drain stopper catches some hair, but definitely not all and it's not very effective. It only captures hair in that center hole, so the water has to be high enough for the water to drift over that hole and settle into the center. Also, once the water in your tub gets low enough, it stops draining, because the edges of the stopper kind of suction to the basin, preventing water from flowing through, so it kind of just pools around the drain. I can't confirm for sure, but I think this stopper also slows the water drainage in general. My tub tends to fill up to like half calf as I'm taking a shower and it takes forever to drain. I could chalk it up to general drain issues, but it's never this bad when I don't have the stopper in. I'd definitely pass on this item. I've used some version a the tub shroom before, and that works much better.Randi

Wow! This is the most unique and best functioning hair traps I have come across. It fits right into the drain and catches EVERYTHING! To clean it you merely pull it back out and discard the hair that has wrapped around the base. It is a must if you have long hair! Both sinks in my kids bathroom were clogged. 1 had orbeez in the drain and there was standing water in it & the other had kinetic sand in the drain so it drained slow. I poured one side of the solution directly in the drain & I poured the other side of the solution in the standing water. I let both sit for about 30hrs then poured hot boiling water down both drains 2x & they were both clear & water poured down the drain as a normal sink would. This is amazing & I would definitely recommend. This may be one of the higher drain solutions but it's way better than calling a plumberMrs E

I use a drain cleaner 2-3 a year, usually the red bottle, "D". This brand sounded like a good alternative. It was so easy to use, especially because you just empty one of the chambers into the drain and let it do it's thing. I did not use boiling water to rinse. I turned my faucet to the hottest possible and let the water run for a few minutes. The water drained quickly. My drain was not clogged, nor was a dealing with standing water. I do have thick beautiful hair and use too many scrubs & products. So for me, it's about maintaining a clear drain and this product works.MamaBear88

The Green Gobbler Drain Clog Dissolver is an awesome addition to the home care/maintenance. It has no smell, so it is pleasant to use. Also, the design of having to equal containers in one dissolver package is great because it gives you flexibility for the many uses (sink, tub, toilet, etc.). That’s so much easier than trying to measure it on one’s own. Additionally, the use of the drain clog dissolver was easy to pour and did not leave a residue on the surface it was used on. Just my opinion, I did try this product just like the directions say to do. However, it caused more problems for me and did nothing for what it claimed it was supposed to accomplish. I must admit I was disappointed but happily, I did not spend a lot of money so really I also was not expecting much. I would not recommend wasting your hard-earned money on this product It is not worth the headache. Just keep up with a monthly cleaning regimen you will be happy in the long run. These did not desolve. i put one down my drain as recommended on the package. My bathroom sink started having a bad blockage so i took the pipe off below my sink and every one i had put in there(seven or so) was half desolved, thick with water, and squished together. I'm glad they at least got stuck in that pipe and didn't make it farther down so i could clear the problem myself without involving a plumber.Meagan

This is my first review I have ever written. Which is surprising with how much I buy on line, but nothing has really wowed me like this product. About six months ago the house my family and I moved in to had some serious plumbing problems. The worst was in the shower. No matter what I did, snakes, cleaned, plunged, the rotten disgusting smell would not go away. I mean it was awful. The worst. I was able to make it livable, but I'm a mom and no mom is okay with things like this. I was a little sceptical that this little stick would make the smell go away. But it did! Right away. The box says to put one in the drain but I put two. I ran the water for a few seconds and let it sit for about twenty minutes. I then turned the water on and for the first time the water was running very fast down the drain and the clog was completely gone! Plus it smelled like a light lemon fresh smell, not over powering, just fresh. I was so surprised that it unclogged the drain so fast. I plan on using them throughout the rest of the house as well. We wouldve had to wait 3 days for a professional to come unclog the drain but i carefully used these one time use sticks and the tub drained perfectly within minutes. We moved into a rental home and noticed the tub drain wasn’t draining so I figured it was clogged. Lo and behold, it was clogged with hair. Once you get your drain clog free, simply drop one toothed chain down the drain to catch future cloggers before they grow problematic. The cute plastic design on top prevents the chain from falling strait through! Warning! Pull out, check & clean the device each month to prevent 'overload' & 'pitting' of the metal that causes possible breakage of the chain (which WILL fall through!) Keep it cleaned off. I've been using this product for a year and a half. I continue to buy it as I feel it is the most effective one out there. In the past, I've used a disposable "snake" but that only takes care of things after the fact… and in my case, I'd have to unscrew my drain each time to use it. With the drain wig, I can just pull up and remove once it is clogged and replace with the next drain wig. Much simpler and cleaner. I understand some of the negative reviews complain about the hair building up on the outside of the drain on the flower part. I find this only happens if the hair going down is in larger sections (more than a few strands) at the same time. It simply can't find access to the drain and will build up if in large quantities. However, I don't mind this, because it allows me to just pick up the hair and throw away and keep more hair from going down the drain. After all, that is my ultimate goal anyway. Plus, it's not as often that my hair is shedding at that rate the entire shower.FLMomOfTwo
