I bought these as a recommendation to pair with the bistro lights I purchased on Amazon. I'm familiar with the Command product line, read the directions and even watched a couple of YouTube videos before I attempted to install them. I followed the directions to the letter & only 2 clips stayed attached out of 10 in the first 5 minutes. Surface was cleaned & it was about 50 degrees outside & I applied hard pressure for over 30 seconds. 2 hours later, those 2 clips are still up but nothing is hanging on them. I'd hate to have all my glass light bubs break because these clips can't hold. Based on the many recent, disappointed reviews similar to mine, I'm thinking maybe the adhesive is defective in this batch…just a theory. Lights still aren't up and I've wasted $$ on buying 20 defective clips. 3M please address the poor adhesives.Olentangy

I bought these clips so that my daughter could hang rope lights on her bedroom wall. The clips worked great for the original intended purpose. Fast forward a month to the holiday season and I again purchased the clips to hang Christmas lights on the inside of my windows in the living room. We cleaned the windows as required and none of the strips lasted longer than 30 seconds. Same strips, 2 different environments and unfortunately they worked well in one area and not another. I've been trying to use these to hang string lights on my porch and they objectively do not work. Despite following the instructions to the letter, I haven't had a single one successfully stick. I've tried different surfaces (i.e. the vinyl siding, the wood rafters/ceiling). I've gone through half of the sticky strips that came in the package and don't have any hooks to show for it. Even though I leave them up for the recommended amount of time before trying to hang lights (and I've tried leaving them up for lots longer than the recommended time, too, just in case), they come off with the slightest pressure, like the pressure required to put the cord in the clip. I'm very frustrated at the waste of money here.jcp115

I wanted to use these hooks to hang some small holiday wreaths on our glass windows at our house. I cleaned the window surface & my husband applied the hooks as directed. Later that day, my wreaths were on the ground and the hooks were no longer attached to the window. Luckily there was an extra strip I could use for each of my hooks. I personally installed the hook this time following the directions. I waited until the next day to hang my wreaths. I thought it was a success. The wreaths were up for about 2 weeks when they fell again along with the hooks unattached to the window. At this point it is 2 more weeks until it is Christmas. I have no more strips so I either need to buy more or find a different solution. I'm very disappointed this did not work out for me.doublecrossed07

We have hung the same wreaths on our windows for years and always used these 4 lb. command hooks. I bought new hooks this year and we hung the wreaths yesterday. They lasted a couple hours and then all the wreaths fell off the windows.The old hooks have a strip of hard plastic on the back of the hook that the adhesive strip adheres to. The new hooks are all silicone (rubbery stuff) and the adhesive strip adheres to it instead of to plastic. Unfortunately, the adhesive strips do not stay stuck to the silicone, and the the whole hook fell off with all the wreaths. The adhesive strip is still adhering to the window but the other side won't stay stuck to the silicone hook. Please go back to the old design which was fantastic year after year. We have some of our old hooks left and will be using those today to hang all the wreaths. I encourage everyone to hoard their old hooks, but these new ones are worthless! I tried calling the Customer Service number today, but it is Saturday and they are closed. What a disappointment.kukudu

Hello. I purchased this believing it would be perfect to hang my Christmas bow on a main window. The item weighed barely a pound so I opted for the large capacity 4lb version. I also liked that they were rated for -20F through 125 which confirmed it was the better choice versus suction cup hangers. I used alcohol and followed the instructions. I exaggerated them and pressed the strip and then the hook for several minutes versus just 30 seconds. I also waited for approx 90 mins versus just an hour. The hook lasted a few days with the first strip and then failed. Then again a couple of days with the 2nd. In both cases the strip came off the glass and the plastic hook itself. I can see a reason why it came off the glass but why would their strip come off their own plastic hanger? I rated them 3 stars because to their credit Command Customer Service offered to send me replacement strips right away. They did mention via chat there is a shelf life, but I just bought this from Lowes. They also confirmed that despite there being a shelf life, there is no best date used by or expiration date on the package. I am happy to be receiving a replacement set, however, it will be too late for this Holiday season. And, if the shelf-life is only one year, they will expire before next Holiday season.wouldacouldashoulda

I only recently became aware of command hooks, but they quickly became little problem solvers for me. I won't use one in a home where I want a permanent hook (they are neither attractive enough nor durable enough), but they worked great in the temporary apartment where I was living — a couple in the closet and one on the back of the bathroom door. They served their purpose and removed quite well after my six month residence. I also read a brilliant "hack" that I continue to use: Place hooks upside down on the outside two ends of a wastebasket to hook the handles of a plastic grocery store bag over — and you have a liner that stays in place (at least until they take our plastic grocery bags away from us). On the other hand, I have a friend who used command hooks all over the house for hanging pictures, with very unsatisfactory results. Not only did the pictures start falling down, one at a time, at about the one month mark, but they also took wall paint and plaster down with them.Oakley17

I was extremely excited to use these to hang my pictures, rods,etc. Besides, they would come in handy because my family was moving to a new house. I read the instructions and followed every detail. I was surprised. Expected some low quality product. They were for pot holders- so I didn't mind much. However, they came sooner than expected- they came in a padded envelope and I was surprised by the weight. Opened em up, ******* in the arm hanger- and put them to fridge- they took with a boom and haven't moved once. They hold the mini mitts near my air fryer/convection/toaster unit and those mitts are on and off the arm hangers a lot. Repeating? They've not budged. There is always a need for an extra towel holder whether in the kitchen, bathroom or workroom. It is within a product test selection that I would have purchased on my own. This can also offer the option of hanging light things other than listed. Each guest can have their provided towel set up to fit the situation or room. I prefer this metal material construction as you see produced here by 3M versus a plastic based one as it is also fairly light. The big issue can become that it looks strong on the wall, but other people may place too heavy an item hanging on it. Therefore, where it is placed may be also important since it is easy to mistake it for being secured and set in place into the actual wall. I do not know a lot of indoor construction design elements, but have seen the holes made for shelves and other holding methods. Quite large and damaging even if using other improper smaller means which may mean removal leaves the decor for the area a problem. In an emergency also consider if for a light weight put out drawer. It can act as a temporary handle but my suggestion is to pull it straight out and slower. It depends what the finish is and if the underlying material won’t be damaged. I did test it on an old non-gloss finish wood type that had lost the knobs and it worked. The light blue sticky strip is placed against the mounting base and make sure to prep the wall as stated with enough time to get a good long term adhesion. It can be utilized flat on a rimmed table top to hang items as I did consider. The measurements for rod holder distance are 9 and 1/8 inch. The holding bar looks to be close to that of a dime coin in circumference The vertical length of the mounting base is approximately 3 inches and the total reach across seems within the 11 and ¾ inch range. The labeling says Rust resistant, Water resistant strips and Satin Nickel. Another alternative is in the kitchen as I always see things left all over the place. Small kitchens always need safer ways to deal with situations and the refrigerator may be an option, sink or for those with separate counters to prepare food. Even though it will adjust a bit, it still needs to adhere at an even level against the surface.SpringTime

Ever have unexpected company for an overnight stay? Well it happened to me and I was super happy to have this on hand. In my smaller apartment space is in short supply and well used. My bathroom countertops are tiny and used by my personal things. So when company showed up and needed to stay over I wasn't sure how to manage the shower/bath situation. With no counter space that left them to put their clean linens and clothes on the toilet. Then I remembered I had the 3M bathroom towel rack. I was happy with how easy it was to put up. Very impressed with myself as well because I was able to get it put up before my company got their clean clothes together for after their shower. We've now used it for a week or so and its been holding up great! It has a nice modern look and I love the fact of knowing I can move it later is I want. Awesome and handy! I received the 3M-Command Nickel Hand Towel product to test and review at no charge to me. I found the towel bar somewhat smaller than I had imagined but it would be large enough if the hand towel were to be folded in half length-wise when hung. This is probably more well suited to handing a washcloth than a hand towel. The color tone described as Satin Nickel was right on and very becoming. I had some issue with actually installing the towel bar. After it was initially hung on the wall the instructions directed me to slide the actual bar assembly off the clear plastic pieces that the sticky tapes were adhered to so the sticky tapes could cure on the wall and the weight of the towel bar did not cause it to fall. Well for me, getting the towel bar assembly off the wall without damaging it or the sticky tape and clear plastic pieces was tricky. They did not slide off easily but I was able, with the help of my husband, to remove the bar so the sticky tape could cure as directed. I would like to see a different method of accomplishing this part of the installation. Maybe the actual packaging could be used as a template for placing the clear mounts and tape, then after curing the towel bar could be installed into the mounting plate through clicking into the back or rear side of the nickel tone mounting plates.Green1

I purchased the Command hooks for my mom so that she could hang up her robe and other clothing on her bedroom and bathroom doors. I am familiar with the Command products from using them for hanging picture frames. Installation of the hooks took less than a minute once I figured out and measured the location. Measurement isn’t necessary but two of the hooks I installed went on the same door and I wanted them to be “professionally” placed.PapaDiddy

These are great to have around the household. The ways in which you can use them are literally endless. I love organizing things so these come in especially handy for me. And as long as you peel them very gently, you can get away without peeling any paint from your wall. Pictured here is some of my most used kitchen utensils hanging up near my stove using different sizes of these hooks such as measuring cups and spoons, two different sizes of tongs, and kitchen scissors. I received this hook free from 3M to evaluate. I've used similar 3M Command hooks previously. This particular one is not as "fancy" as the brushed nickle ones I put in our upscale RV, but they otherwise work the same. This one is more utilitarian, but has reasonable aesthetics. It looks good on the side of a refridgerator or the wall of a utility room, bathroom, or pantry, etc. The base of this hook's arch is substantial, so even though it's plastic, it's unlikely to break if used within the weight guidelines prescribed for it. I always like that the Command system is so unique; it was someone's truly great idea. I have one on the side of our upright freezer in the garage, and hang my coveralls on it where they're handy for any project; almost all my garage/shop wall hanging space is used up otherwise, and the unused, smooth freezer wall was just too handy. Putting one of the strips on the back, and then peeling off the second backing only when ready with correct positioning (even if it's the next day) is a big plus. Then if even years down the road you have occasion to move the hook, simply slide the hook up and off the base, stretch down the pull tab, and off it comes. A second sticky tab is included for the new position. And if need be, you can buy more tabs for more future moves. The only minor hassle is figuring a place to store the extra tabs in the interim, where you'll for sure remember to find them again. We recently bought a new grill so I was excited to be able to try the stainless steel hooks out to hold the tools that I like to keep with the grill. These make the grill look so finished. I was a little worried because our tools are a bit heavy, but these hooks seemed to be holding up just fine. Our grill stays covered so weather should not be a problem with these. However, I am curious to see if they will stay put in the GA heat. Won't know for about 4 more months just how durable they will be and if they will stand the test of time. If they do, I think I might want to try using them on my golf cart to hold some of my hand tools that I use when I am out in the yard. We will see….GAMom

The hooks in the Command line work really well and last years. For that, they get multiple stars. However, removing them is not at all as advertised. I have used these in drywall, ceiling, and wood surfaces, and they never come off cleanly unless they have been placed recently. The removal often involves severe damages to the wall. In many cases, you are better with a nail or screws to secure your decorations or goods.Jimbo

I received this product free from 3M for my honest review. We've been looking for a solution to hang a lightweight metal decor piece above our stove. Regular Command hooks didn't last long due to the stove heat, the hooks were always visible, and we didn't want to drill into the tile. Two of these hooks work perfectly so far! The heat hasn't affected them, the metal hooks lift up from the plastic to make hanging easier, and the hooks were adjustable with pliers to make the piece hang at the right angle since I couldn't hang hooks from the top of the piece.TXMama

I bought six of these for all my bikes in the garage and overall, I would say they are probably best option for the money and for a garage with limited wall space (the only comparable model is almost twice as expensive from Topeak). However, I have some design complaints now that I've had mine installed for almost a year. First, it doesn't hold the bikes flush and pulls away once the bike is hanging (see pic), especially heavier mountain bikes. Second, the coating on the hooks is pretty poor and have come off, which now is scratching my rims (see pic). Third, the small stabilizing handle that's mounted below is too small, especially if it’s a mountain bike, so I had to improvise to make sure the bike stayed stable (see pic). Fourth, I had to also buy separate larger hooks for my mountain bikes (which actually should be included or at least packaged as an option for some of us that need them for wider mountain bike tires), but the larger hooks are still slightly too small and it's a struggle to always hang my mountain bikes (to be clear I'm not talking about fat bike tires, mine are 2.5/2.6s). It usually takes couple of tries to get them hooked properly where the tire is sitting in snuggly, which I think is another reason why it's scratching my rims (because it's too tight, and slight too narrow). If I wasn't buying six of them, I probably would have gone with the Topeak. Topeak has beefier design for the hooks and the stabilizing unit below is larger and specifically designed to hold a wheel (unlike the Feedback Sports one, which looks like an off the shelf handle from the hardware store), plus the finish/coating is much better to protect the rims. Hope Feedback Sports can take the feedback (no pun intended) and make some improvements as I think for the money, they have the best product in the market.DoubleG

I bought the Feedback Sport's Velo Hinge on REI only to find out that it wouldn't accommodate my Mountain Bike tires. Saw that the manufacturer (Feedback Sports) sells a long hook for the hinge for $11 on their website, but it was out of stock so I put myself in the waiting list. When it became available and I went to purchase it on their site, I was extremely annoyed that the ONLY shipping option for it was Fedex Ground for another whooping $11. For something that's so small and weightless this is a complete ripoff. At this point I was past the return period for the hinge itself, so it was either buy the long hook or forgo the $35 spent on the hinge. Having to incur in an additional $23 dollars to be able to use this hinge was really annoying. It is pretty dumb that Feedback Sports doesn't sell the hinge with the long hook already installed as an option. And REI should really update the product description to mention that the stock hook won't accommodate MTB tires 27.5 or bigger unless the long hook is purchased separately.JHBoricua

These things work as advertised! They're super durable. The only gripe that drops it from 5 stars to 4 is the lack of ability to order one with the extra long hook. (The hook it ships with is good for all bikes except 29-ers…for those you need an extra long hook which costs an extra few bucks). Beyond getting bikes off the floor (any cheap-o hook can do that), these actually pivot super well, and get them fairly angled against the wall. This is really nice if you have them on a wall where you walk by a lot, or need to park a car and not worry about hitting your bikes, etc. I'm only annoyed I've gone this long in life without these!nopbot

I did not purchase online but instead purchased in store. I purchased two packs of these hooks to use in my five year olds room to hang his super hero masks and costumes so they are visible, organized and out of the way. I was really excited to find the clear medium hooks and in a pack of six, they were exactly what I wanted. Then I used them, I've used many command hooks in my home on doors, walls, wood paneling…flat paint, satin painted surfaces and they always hold with no problem. I prepped the wall wall I wanted to mount these on, which smooth, semi-gloss painted drywall. I measured, leveled and marked the wall then applied all six hooks per directions. I didn't wait the full hour, I hung light weight plastic hero masks, capes and such on all the hooks. In less than 24 hours they all one by one began to fall off the wall. I was extremely disappointed but blamed it on not waiting the full hour. I used my second pack to redo the wall because I couldn't find clear refill strips in store. I did the same with the second pack, prepped the wall and mounted the hooks but this time I waited a full 24 hours before putting anything on the hooks. I then hung the same light weight masks and capes on the hooks. During the night the hooks began falling off the wall one by one. By the next morning five out of the six were on the floor along with the super hero stuff. I'm disgusted that I wasted so much time on this small project and that I now have to do it over for a third time. This product is garbage, don't waist your time or money.Thisistheonlynamenottaken

Command clear or metal hooks, holds approximately two pounds of items while looking great. When you are done, just reach towards the back and release the hook from it's fixture. You won't be able to tell there was anything there. That's why Command Brand Hooks is highly recommended by me.bobbie.f

I purchased this item 12/4/2022 to hang my 3 pound Christmas wreath on our storm door that afternoon. Although I used great care to follow the mounting instructions, the adhesive gave way and all came crashing to the porch floor this morning, 12/6. As this was rated for outdoor use on smooth surfaces, I had great expectations, especially from 3M. So disappointed, wanted to give it zero stars but that was not an option.TKPFLA

I was not familiar with Command-type hooks. I thought that a "Metallic Bronze Hook" would be made of metal, looking like bronze, not plastic. I discovered that metallic bronze is just a 3M color – a bit disappointed. I read about Command hooks that they "adhere to virtually any surface"; assumed they were pretty strong to be able to also withstand temperature extremes of -20 to +125 degrees. But this "outdoor" hook only adheres to "smooth outdoor surfaces", not to the wood that I had planned to attach the hook, nor to the rough drywall in the garage. So I found another use. I prepped the area, installed as described in the instructions and have used the product elsewhere in my garage to good result. I think it would work well on front doors for decorations (as long as the surface is smooth and the item to be hung is under 5 pounds weight) .Tester

I bought two command hooks that hold up to 5 lbs. I hung the clip end of a leash on the hook. We went to remove the leash and the hook came with it. The back of the hook has a small plastic piece that holds it in place after it slides over the separate clear plastic base that you stick on the wall. The back of the hook broke and can’t be reattached to the base plate on the wall. So I attached the second hook to the base plate and it lasted about a week, then the hook broke in the same place on the back. Both the back of the hook and base plate can break easily. I’d rather have a metal hook that attaches to a strong metal base. I see there are metal hooks, but the base plate is still the same cheap plastic and can break. If it does, you can’t buy a new plate with more adhesive strips. You have to buy a whole new set or just buy a pack of adhesive strips.Jude

I have the organizing bug this week, so I decided to buy more Command hooks to hang up necklaces near my dresser. I currently use 3 medium white hooks to hang scarves and small bags on the same wall. They work really well. I chose the value size clear utensil hooks because I really liked their appearance. Sadly, after very closely following all instructions in preparing surface, applying strips and hooks and waiting more than the 1 hour before hanging the necklaces, several of the hooks fell off the wall before I even hung anything on them. I carefully cleaned a second time with alcohol, and used up the extra strips that came with my hooks to re-apply three hooks. I also used an additional 30 seconds firmly pressing each of the 9 hooks to the wall. Then I waited overnight before hanging my necklaces. Today 2 hooks are down. It can't be the weight, since none of my necklaces are more than a few ounces. I am disappointed that I wasted my time and money with these hooks.MathTeach

I bought these because my landlady didn't allow me to put holes on the wall. I used these to hang up a few decorative items. And I will say that for most 3 years they held great. My only reason for the extra star. Problem, and reason for the bad review is when I moved out and tried to remove them, they pulled the paint off the wall. You will love these Command Hooks because they have so many uses. I have been finding numerous ways to use them. I live in an apartment and do not have a lot of storage space.
