Holy longest week of my life! We were able to move most of the big stuff from our old place into the new one last Friday and since then it’s been trips once a day, jamming tubs, lamps, and dishes into my little Corolla. Today we grab the last of it, clean the old place, and say goodbye!
We’re so happy at our new home! I’ve got more kitchen space than I know what to do with, Punk seems slightly more active, and even my plants are doing better, although I’m still patiently waiting for peppers from my jalapeño plant!
I wish I could tell you that I cooked some decadent five course meal for our first dinner in the new place, but alas.. it was five dollar spaghetti. After rent for two places, deposits, and moving expenses we were stretched pretty thin. I’ll admit that I’ve been a little…okay a lot…stressed out, but then I remembered, we’re a young couple! We’re supposed to be broke and in love! I know that we’ll get there eventually and in the meantime we have to embrace the situation and laugh at my dinner concoctions of frozen leftovers and find the romance in our living room picnics on the floor. Yep.. we made the decision to ditch our old furniture and wait until we could buy new. We wanted a fresh start in every way and if that means roughing it in camping chairs for a few weeks, then so be it!
The point is to just enjoy where you are now and how much you’ve accomplished at this point in your life. I guarantee you’re going to look back and remember that moment.. not the IKEA dining room table you wanted so badly.
One last sentimental thought and I promise I’m done! I just wanted to say a quick thank you to all of my readers.. new or year-long followers, thank YOU. You provide me the motivation and encouragement I need each and every day to cook, create, and write and I’m forever grateful for that. I hope you all enjoy the rest of your week!
