My good friend, Lindsey Rickert, was kind enough to come over a few weeks ago and photograph me working on a post from start to finish so I could share with you a behind the scenes look at Tattooed Martha. I woke up and found myself panicking about all of the last minute details I had forgotten like straightening up the living room, hiding the massive amount of dirty laundry that’s visible from the kitchen, and making myself look decent! I did as much as I could before we just jumped in and started working.
Later when I got the photos from her I actually kind of loved that my bookcase was in disarray, that my hair was constantly in my face instead of neatly curled and pinned back, and that I was wearing one of my favorite flannels (go Target!) instead of a fancy dress that I would NEVER actually wear while cooking. I wanted a genuine look at what my day is like and Lindsey most definitely captured it. Down to my awkward way of photographing food, breaking something in the kitchen, and even telling Josh goodbye before he goes to work.
I feel very blessed to have the opportunity to work with Lindsey, as well as call her a close friend. A huge thank you to her once again for following the Tattooed Martha tornado back and forth from the kitchen to capture these images. Be sure to head over to her page to read her blog, find out about upcoming projects, and see her other work!
When we moved into our new place it didn’t have a microwave and we decided we didn’t really need one. That means I have to get a little bit creative when it comes to softening butter, which Lindsey caught. I propped it on a vintage suitcase and set it in front of the heater! haha
My taste tester.
No step stool? No problem!
R.I.P. Teacup 🙁
Get the shot by any means necessary!
And there you have it! From start to finish! Let me know if you have any questions about my process or method to my madness! 😉
